Celeste the Flamingo is not like the others. She just doesn't blend in.
But can her unique style help when a friend is in trouble?
A hilarious and brilliant story about Celeste the Flamingo using her uniqueness to help others, as she goes on a comical journey of self-discovery.
Written by the multi-talented comedian, Celeste Barber, with bright and funny illustrations by Heath McKenzie, this book is full of flair and wit exploring themes of friendship, self-confidence and resilience.
The illustrations of this picture book are just as vibrant and fun as Barber's last (although I note it uses a different illustrator). Great use of colour and facial expressions. So the book is a joy to look at.
The message of being yourself and not being afraid to stand out from the crowd is also great. However, the story itself wasn't as strong. It wasn't clear why Celeste was "trying again", when she already knew she didn't want to just blend in. The link between her individuality and the rescue also wasn't strong.
