When Bailey accepts John Colburn’s offer for her to visit Good Springs, she leaves the Inn at Falls Creek expecting to spend the autumn relaxing in her favorite seaside village. Upon her arrival, Connor asks her to cover a shift of guard duty on the equinox, and her quiet vacation takes a shocking turn.
Revel Roberts works hard to keep his life commitment-free, making it easy to leave community decisions to men like Connor and John. But when the Land is threatened, Revel sees his chance to prove he is a man worthy of Bailey’s love. Amid the chaos in Good Springs, his unrequited feelings for her preoccupy him. One wrong choice could ruin everything.
As Bailey’s new life in the Land unravels and threats from the outside world loom, a yearning she can’t define surges within her. It distracts her from defending the hidden world she loves, and a tragedy reinforces her need for independence.
With the survival of the Land at stake and their hearts on the line, Bailey and Revel will need more courage than fighting ever required. They will need to find the courage to love.
Keely Brooke Keith is the author of the beloved Uncharted series—inspirational frontier-style fiction with a slight sci-fi twist.
Born in St. Joseph, Missouri, Keely was a tree-climbing, baseball-loving 80s kid. After a 15-year career as a homeschool teacher, she now enjoys exploring the hidden gems of small-town America on road trips with her husband. Wherever the journeys take her, Keely always returns to her hilltop home south of Nashville, Tennessee, where she dreams up stories about a hidden land.

I always enjoy a visit to the Land Uncharted, and Uncharted Courage is no exception. (I could use some of that gray leaf, too!) Ms. Keith takes her reader on a journey that feels like a trip back in time, but with the all the tension of the 21st century. Outside the Land, a world war rages, But within the mysterious atmospheric shield, the Land is as peaceful as ever. Not without its difficulties or strife, of course, as any society will bear. Or matters of the heart. Coming from the outside world, Bailey never felt inclined to romance, and has kept her heart tightly secured against it. Revel Roberts, too, has secured his heart against romance. Like all else in his life, nothing is permanent, nor does it ever work out to his best interest. Better to stick to his solitary life; it’s what’s familiar and comfortable. But when hearts connect, it’s not so easy to quell that pull. That longing. There is more at stake, though, than runaway hearts. Evidence that another outsider—an enemy, potentially hostile—has come into the land, and fear runs high. Ms. Keith takes her characters—and her readers—on a roller-coaster journey. Mystery and suspense on every page hold the reader's full attention through to the end. She gives her characters real and raw emotions, and having read [almost] all the books in the series, I have come to feel like I have friends in the Land.

Keith’s world of the Uncharted Land continues with familiar favorites of the large cast, focusing on two rebellious spirits in Revel and Bailey as they battle traditions and their growing feelings. A son of the Land, Revel had thrown off the mantle of expectation that he take over the family business of innkeeper, and devised a new business for himself. Still growing into his self-worth, he seeks to challenge himself with a large enough task to impress Bailey as well as the authority figures in his circle. Bailey, a newcomer, has found home in this strange throw-back place, and struggles to keep her hard-won independence as a woman beholden to no one and able to take care of herself and everyone around her.
When an old foe returns with dread news from the outer world, the men—and Bailey—rally around to protect the values they hold most dear, even if their lives are threatened. Bailey takes comfort in being able to provide expert advice in case of catastrophe, but Revel spirals into a funk of despair as his half-plotted hope of proving his capabilities runs aground. This episode in the series focused more on the challenges of living a life of faith in times of doubt. I appreciated how Bailey was encouraged to center her life in trusting God over people, but I was distracted by how fearful the other adult women appeared, and by Revel’s apparent belief that he could walk away from a serious situation for three weeks and expect it to resolve itself. Other than that, Uncharted Courage is a charming addition to the series, following the budding romance of two special people. Those who love dystopian with a twist, and who love romantic inspirational stories, will enjoy this book. With the other stories, readers can jump in at almost any place, but I recommend reading at least one previous story, Uncharted Destiny, #7, to understand how Bailey fits into the cycle.
I have really enjoyed this series and getting to know these characters. If you haven’t tried this series I highly recommend you do, it is truly unique.
In this book the Land faces a really tough situation and then also the question about who they can trust. Then we also have the slow romance between Bailey and Revel. I just want Bailey to be honest with Revel about her concerns. Her independence frustrated me at time, but in a good way 🙂
Revel frustrates me when he does things without talking to others, I got worried there might be some bad consequences.
You’ll just have to read the book to see what I am referring to!
A copy of this book was given to me by the author. All opinions are my own.
Bailey Colburn is feeling unsettled, so takes a trip to the village of Good Springs to visit old friends and get advice from the village elder, John Colburn. She visits over spring equinox, the one time of year when a change in atmospheric conditions allows newcomers to enter the Land. And someone does … actually, two people.
Revel is enjoying his role as island courier now he’s had his father’s blessing to take the role and not take over the family inn. Now, if he can only get Bailey to see how he feels about her. But first he has to share the information the newcomer brought.
Both are fiercely independent and love their freedom, Bailey especially. Both have to learn that working alone doesn’t always yeild the best result. Sometimes, it’s better to work together …
Uncharted Courage is an enjoyable romance, and a relatively quick read. It’s good to see Bailey again—she’s been one of my favourite characters throughout the series. I also enjoyed the underlying spiritual thread, and the way the Christian elements underpin the entire plot without being preachy.
Uncharted Courage is the tenth book in the Uncharted series, about a small community living on a hidden island while World War III rages in the outside world. Keith does an excellent job of reminding readers of the important points from the previous novels by weaving them into the present story in a way that feels natural.
While you could read Uncharted Courage as a standalone novel, it’s probably best to read through the series in order. Having said that, my favourite stories in the series are the stories like Uncharted Courage, where there is a crossover between the Land and the outside world.
Recommended for fans of historical Christian romance or speculative romance with a twist. Thanks to the author for providing a free ebook for review.
Another wonderful Uncharted story! I have loved all the Uncharted Land books. I’m especially loving the ones I’m getting to listen to on audio. The narrator is great and helps bring the story to life even more if possible. Revel and Bailey were a couple of ones I wondered about. I’m so happy they got to be the “star” in their own story. I have always loved John and his wisdom. It’s always good to hear what he imparts to each one he gets to know. So many things happening in the land (more outside visitors?) I love to keep up with them. I think you could read or listen to either book and not get lost but it’s so much better to read them in order. I have so enjoyed doing that. I received a copy of this audiobook from the author but I was not required to write a positive review. All opinions are my own.
This author continues to surprise me with her twists and turns as she writes a genre that combined adventure, historical fiction and SciFI. The New Land once again is in turmoil as outsiders are able to enter this alternative Land once a year. Not all outsiders are welcomed as they don’t understand or appreciate the goodness of the land and working together to make a better place for everyone. Bailey has been accepted by the outsiders despite her strange fighting skills and quirky sense humor. She hears strange noises and finds an unwelcome guest all bruised up and bloody. More danger, adventure snd love awaits the reader of this series!
Keely Brooke Keith is a wonderful inspirational author, she will have you on the edge of your seat waiting to see what happens next in this book. In this book you will read about the threats of the uncharted land and the people living there. Bailey and Revel are truly special people who are true friends. Watching their relationship change is so inspiring. John Colburn is always there for his family and the community. I had the honor to review this book for the author for a honest review. I would give this book a higher rating than a five star review if I could.
I always look forward to the next installment in the Uncharted series, and author Keely Brooke Keith has written another winner. Revel has been one of my favorite characters, so I am thrilled that he finally got his own story. The plot line is intriguing with many twists and turns along the way. Vivid description immersed me in the sights, sounds, and smells of life of the Land. I love the mix of historical, contemporary, and fantasy in the story and hated for the book to end. Fantastic!
Remember that unresolved romance between Bailey and Revel? Well, it wouldn’t let me rest.
I had so much fun writing Uncharted Courage. I dreamed up all the crazy what-ifs, put them in the Uncharted blender, and hit frappe! The result is one of my favorite stories in the Land thus far.
I hope you enjoy reading Uncharted Courage as much as I enjoyed writing it!
This is an absolutely beautiful book! I have read the entire Uncharted series, and they keep getting better! I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and I didn’t want it to end. I love the Land and the people there. Keely has created wonderful characters that I admire and I enjoy reading all their adventures. I can’t wait to read the next one!
I was fortunate to see an advanced copy. Readers and fans of the Land will love this newest installment. Worlds collide and sparks fly... Fortunately, most of them kindle love!
Another great story! I love this series, and look forward to many more! I’m so glad that Bailey and Revel finally found what they were both looking for.
Another awesome book in the Uncharted series. Ms. Keith does a fabulous job making the reader feel like you truly know these people and like you're right there with them.
