I was my sire’s greatest warrior. The most powerful vampire Cain had turned in generations. His most beloved daughter. But I was tricked. Someone framed me for a betrayal so great that my sire chose to punish me by burying me in a silver coffin. He left me there to rot, until I was driven mad by thirst. Until I broke. A hundred feet down they buried me. In a place so deep that most people forgot I existed. Until almost two centuries later, when my sire has need of me once more. But I’m not who I once was. I’m shattered. Weak. To keep me in line, Cain forces me to take a pack of warriors as my thralls. They’re my jailers and my carers; responsible for feeding me and teaching me about this new, modern age. Between a vampire, two lycans and a hybrid, there’s little chance of my escaping. But my thralls have secrets of their own, and I’m about to get caught up in their plans whether I want to or not. The only question is, will I fight with them, or against them? This is a medium burn reverse harem romance for readers age 18+. Book 1 of 3 in the Daughter of Cain series.
Marie Mistry is a reality challenged reverse harem romance author whose books are full of pirates, magic, and spicy adventures. When she's not writing, you can usually find her curled up with a game or a book and a large cup of tea. She lives in a wonky cottage in Kent with her other half and a super sweet shepherd named Meg.
This book is a colossal disappointment, but it is written fairly well, which, if I am being honest, makes me even more disappointed. The disappointment stems from a few insurmountable issues. Throughout the book, there are references to The Vampire Diaries complete with the original vampires, a character named Silas, white oak as the only thing that will kill the original vampires, vampire hybrids of all types (werepires, witchpires, vampouls), and a megalomaniacal original who wants to run the world and keeps his naughty vampire children captive in coffins for centuries on end. It’s also obvious from the first chapters that all the political intrigue is the vampsters (vampire-sisters, not vampire-hamsters) betraying one another and cattily competing with one another as they throw one another under the proverbial bus to distract their vampire-dad from their own secrets.
Moreso than anything else, the one thing that is the most singularly disappointing aspect of the book is that Evelyn, who was supposed to be some genius-level master strategist and the General of her vampire-father’s army, is a shrinking violet who cannot out-wit, much less out-fight, a vampire-hamster. She is nothing more than a dickmatized blood-addict who spends her time snooping through the underwear drawers of her thralls between feedings and f_c<*ngs. She is so dull that she doesn’t even notice that they’re all having sex with each other for more than half the book - which, then, begs the question of what purpose she serves? This book barely passes the Bechdel test and only because Evelyn’s sister Morwenn has a girlfriend.
As a final pièce de résistance, the book ends on a cliffhanger. The next book, that will not be released until sometime next year, will, I assume, reveal that the behaviour of all of the characters at the cliffhanger was part of the elaborate plan that is going perfectly to plan, a plan that the author didn’t bother to write until after the fact.
I really enjoyed this it’s the first book in a trilogy a paranormal reverse harem set on an earth where vampires and supernaturals have come out of the shadows and into plain sight. The tyrannical dictator Cain an ancient immortal vampire is the law, Cain is the ultimate power and rules his empire through fear and terror even those closest to him tiptoe lightly. Eve is a first daughter one of Cains's made vampire daughters. Once she was the favourite that was until she fell from Grace; betrayed by an unknown source close to her and then sentenced to be buried alive to suffer, her mortal lover sentenced to death by ghoul.
Freed from her prison after 185 years Eve awakens much changed the world has moved on without her and she is all but forgotten. Cain is now firmly ensconced in his power and Eve is expected to fall back into line to play the dutiful daughter or suffer the price for her continued defiance. The new thrall bonds Cain insisted on to keep her in check are unexpected but also not quite who they first appear and Eve finds herself despite all of her continued resistance intrigued. Now she has quite the dilemma throw her lot in with them and go against her father or do the sensible thing and come to heel. But with enemies hiding in plain sight and a sister that is still imprisoned to further complicate things Eve has no idea who she can actually trust.
I liked how vividly this built up a picture of this world. There are vampires, lycans and even ghouls to contend with and this had plenty to hold my attention. The pace here was good and the sexy times felt balanced without it taking over the story. I appreciated all of the males well maybe not Gideon as he came across as a bit of a dick but the others definitely. As well as the M/F action we also have some M/M with Silas and Finn and also M/M/F so a smorgasbord of sexiness.
There are six males in this harem Lycan brothers Silas and Vane with Silas also being a hybrid. Gideon again a Lycan and the pack leader. We then have the Omega of the pack Finn who is also the tech guy. Then there’s Draven the resident psycho (a vampire) and finally Frost the source of Eves's initial first painful betrayal.
Overall this was a great beginning and introduction to the series and managed to capture my attention easily. It was well written and the story itself was intriguing I’m excited now to see how this develops especially considering that thrilling finale.
Marie Mistry really has a gift, everything she writes it’s just pure perfection, honestly I would read her grocery list without a second thought.
I loved the characters of Entombed by blood, the boys felt so real and unique, I loved how each of them had some trait that balanced Eve, of course I have my favorites (Draven and Frost *wink wink*) but I actually liked all of them, even Gideon who was kind of a jerk in the end.
Eve too is a great character, she was really traumatized in the beginning of the book and reading about her journey to discover herself and the new world she was thrown in, was really interesting, I loved how vulnerable she was and how slowly she grew her strength back.
I can’t wait to read the next step of Eve and the boys journey, I’m sure it’s going to be as awesome as this one was.
Some books absolutely do not need to be a drawn out series...... a hill I'm willing to die on
Spoilers ahead
ETA I'm not continuing on with this series.... somebody spoil it for me was her sister the traitor?
This started off absolutely fantastic! The h is the badass executioner for her sire. She unfortunately kept her bond with a human thrall secret. She and the human male Frost would meet in secret until they're betrayed and her father finds out. Frost is given to a pack of ghouls and the h is taken and locked away in a silver casket for hundreds of years. Point to note here she's a vampire and silver is harmful to her kind.
We open again a new world hundreds of years later, her sire has moved from the old country, his seat is now New York I think? Technology has advanced and the supernatural is out in the open. Her father releases her from her prison and makes her bond with some supernatural thralls and sets them up in an apartment together
Now here is where it fell apart for me, of course there's the recovery of the h and her getting used to the new world but the lack of communication and general distrust has the plot stagnant. Nothing much happens
Then we discover that Frost, who by the way unbeknownst to the H was the leader of the human resistance back then, is still alive and still leading a resistance effort to kill her dad and tge reson she was released is to draw him out.
Now they're all in hiding and eventually agree to work together. Too bad they're recaptured 🙄
Eh the potential was definitely there, but as I often find with series authors just drag shit out unnecessarily imo. Like damn this was going really well. And seriously nobody suspected her sister????? Not one person said hmmmmm? Ughhhhhh
********** Anyways Frost is a hybrid ghoul vampire now, second chance between him and the h because he deceived her in the way back when, hundreds of years before they were together. Him secretly being the leader of the resistance is the reason she was punished by her fathe. He's been looking for her for years or so he claims
Draven vampire who started off cold and standoffish then turned into my favourite and then may be a traitor 😭
Silas and Vane, brothers one is a wolf other is a hybrid. Vane is determined to protect his brother
Gideon asshole Alpha of the group (why does there always need to be one)
Finn tech genius and omega (now this is a me thing but I do not like male omegas, I do not like the focus off of my h, that's just me though) he's involved with Silas and Gideon idk about the others
As much as I'd like to know if Draven was a traitor and the sister was one too I'm not slugging through 2 more books
Evelyn is Cain's best weapon, in an arsenal of weapons. Five daughters he created, directly of his line, with individual powers, but completely under his rule. An unwitting betrayal costs her almost 200 years in a silver lined coffin. But worse than the torture, is being awakened to be a weapon again.
Spoilers ahead. Any sensitive readers need to avoid chapter 15. Cain may call these women daughters but he treats one in a very unpaternal manner. And he abuses her. No matter her choice to try to gain favor this way, he makes it hell for her. It isn't Evie but it's in the book and deserves a warning. So, yeah, that crap needs a warning. That's an automatic star drop for any author that doesn't warn readers about sexual assault. Also, one of Evie's guards was abused by her sister. So, sexual assaults abound. The one is the beginning of chapter 15 and can be avoided by skipping a few pages. The other is hinted at and dodged in conversation. As for the rest of the book... This appears to be an alternate timeline? Earth, but accepted and known paranormal races- vampires, lycans, magic users and ghouls. Cain wants to be the ruler of everyone and everything. He uses his daughters as tools to achieve this. The world Evie wakes to is violent, controlled and dark. She's mentally abused by her sire, made to bond with others she can't see as anything but pawns, and worries about the only good person she's ever known. She has to learn technology, play head games, is isolated, and is poisoned daily. It's kind of grim and ends in a cliffhanger. I kept hoping that there'd be a little lightness, some hope, some joy and bonding. We get betrayal after betrayal, worry, fear, constant attacks, and a little sex but not bonding other than some thrall bonds forced on her that get snapped into place with said sex. I don't expect rainbows and butterflies with a blurb that mentions 200yrs of torture, but a little happiness wouldn't be amiss.
DNF @35% p110/316 Chapter 13(Gideon) Im not in the mood for this right now at all. It’s just too heavy right out the gate, and the relationships are starting out in a weird way. And since I put it down and moved on already I have no inclination to continue with it. I think it’s just one of those books I have to be in a specific mood to actually be into.
First reading of 2024.I was looking forward to reading this but I was solely disappointed... I think the plot is good, and I love vampire stories though imo they almost never are done in a way that I like. It's the reason why this novel fell flat for me.
Eve is an ancient vampire, 2000 years old. She has A LOT of experience being so old, both personal and as a warrior. We are told many times how amazing she is, how strong, and yet, we never see it. Eve is weak. I understand she was imprisoned in the worst way possible, but as a vampire, I was expecting her to come out raging, angry and seeking revenge. She comes out a shaking and completely weak vampire. The MMCs walk all over her, something that made me dislike all of them.
The men are all younger than the FMC BY CENTURIES. There isn't a single one that comes close to her age. They keep treating Eve as a bomb about to explode (I guess in a way that makes sense), but even after they take her away from Cain, they continue to undermine and talk over her. I HATE THIS! Either the FMC is strong or she is so weak that she allows a group of men to walk all over her. Or at least she could have been pretending to be weak to gather info, but that isn't the case. She's,just point blank weak.
Also, I don't like male omegas in the RH because most of the times (including here), they take the attention from the FMC. I took a look at the next book and saw that's exactly what will happen. Finn is said to be the HEART of the pack. In my opinion, there can't be two hearts in anything, thus Eve feels misplaced.
The men also did nothing for me to be honest. I don't know... I've already read all of Marie Mistry's books, and I always enjoy them. But the men here were just so boring... And they manipulated the FMC. They just wanted to use her, like Cain. I disliked Gideon the most. There's a part that he hurts the FMC and I hated it. The woman is confused, weak, being pushed around like a toy, and she doesn't react!!! God was it frustrating and disappointing.
Anyways, I won't proceed with this series, unfortunately.

Absolutely loved this book. It has such an interesting storyline, one I hadn’t read before that kept me captivated the entire time. There was drama, intrigue and plenty of betrayal! Can’t wait for book 2!
I already had this book on my wishlist before I had read any of Mistry's other books. I even downloaded a free Kindle copy at some point. However, when I finished both Liar Witch and Traitor Witch I knew it was time to get to Mistry's entire backlist. And since this book had been on my radar for such a long time already, and since I needed a book I could read on my Kindle because I was traveling today, this was the perfect moment to pick this one up.
This book is clearly different from her Deadwood series. Where the Deadwood series is epic fantasy, this is more urban fantasy. And I love how that means Mistry's writing style adapts and changes too. The sentences in this book are less flowery, the world building is less detailed and the characters have a way more modern feel, even though this book takes place years in the future when technology has advanced even more and supernaturals rule the world.
My favorite part of this book is how all the characters involved are using their intellect and tricks to win the war. Most of them know that when it comes to brute strength they will lose. They have to use their brain, they have to find ways to trick their opponent, they have to look for the weak spots, the weak links and the ins. That also means that quite often characters choose not to fight back, but to run. It made me respect these characters even more.
I also really love how gray these characters are and how hard it is to keep track of who's the good guy and who's the bad guy and if there even are good guys and bad guys. Our heroine is trying to figure out which side to be on, but it's clear that we also can't be completely sure if all the guys are on the same side. It actually feels like we don't really know all these characters yet, apart from the adorable omega, and I can't wait to learn more about them in the next installment!
After reading a book that I was really emotionally invested in, I then struggled to get into any other book...until I picked this up. I have read the Traitor Witch series before and loved it...so I thought I would try another of the authors series as I really needed something that would draw me in and this did not disappoint. I think the author creates a really good balance of character development, world building, spice and plot...it didn't feel like one aspect took over any of the others and I just LOVED reading this. Surprisingly I did really like the FMC. I like that she was vulnerable, that she didn't cave in to another of the MMCS and trust them just because she was attracted to them. They need to work HARD to earn her trust, and even by the end of this first book she still doesn't trust them. It is also well written, and even as the reader I am not sure who she can trust either. The author does really well in bringing the reader along for the ride too. The MMCs are a really diverse and interesting group, and I am loving getting to know them. I keep changing my mind over which I like the most, as they are all so diverse and appealing. Already picked up the next in the series and loving it!
Vampires.. hybrids...rebellion..different time periods🧛🏻♀️
DNF. Stopped until I realized there was M/M kinda had an inkling but since it didn’t say I read on. However if your into that read on. The storyline very much reminded me of the movie underworld & I liked the introduction to these ghoul creatures.
Well this sure ended in the thick of things leaving much hanging. Right in the middle of a showdown between Evie, her sisters and of course world ruler (and her sire) Cain. He rules with more than an iron fist and wants Evie back under his thumb. After she falls for a human her punishment get her gagged and bound in a silver coffin for almost two hundred years feeling every moment of bloodlust, agony and despair. Her long lost love and leader of the rebellion didn’t die all those years ago and has instead been kicking ass taking names and trying to find a way to save the world and his girl all in one. Doing so alone is impossible so he gathers his closest and most trustworthy to bond with Evelyn and hopefully win her over again to take down her sire. I’m still trying to get the guys straight but mostly my fault for flying through this so quickly!! No easy feat for sure especially for Evelyn who’s awoken into a completely new world where she’s no longer Cain’s most trusted and he’s even more powerful. As if her life couldn’t get worse her “sisters” will do anything Cain wishes even if that means torturing Evie and boy do they. Even after being locked away and hurt so bad, they’re actually still jealous of her smh, it’s nuts. In fact everyone is a bit cr@zy and I can’t believe the world allowed Cain to take over in such a manner but I bet that’s because any resistance was quickly extinguished. Off to book two as this one literally ends in the middle of things! Obviously I’m enjoying it, Evie is an amazing character. She loves fiercely and is super protective of those she cares for. She’s also an amazingly skilled fighter, both lethal and nearly invisible.

I’m gonna say 3.5 stars for this one. Towards the end it felt very drawn out. I think it honestly could have been shorter. It almost felt like a chore to finish the last couple chapters. I would say this wasn’t a bad read. The characters were all very interesting and there was some development that was intriguing. I will continue the series because I am curious where the story will go, but I’m not sure how much hope I have for the second.
I have such mix emotions about this story. It’s really good and well written, so much so that I’ve been unable to put it down. Almost to the point of depriving myself of sleep.
However, I’ve been almost nervous and weary I would say reading this, because I was so scared this book would have one of my triggers. I’ve even been jumping between books trying to gather as much info as I could with keywords, because I wanted to keep reading but didn’t want to risk the chance of me being triggered by something later on the series.
Just for reference I’m not a fan of OW drama, cheating, dead lovers or spouses, virgin fmc, the list goes on. In this particular series I was worried about the former, however after reading this book I was put at peace over that. There’s not really OW drama, however through context I do believe one of the men was SA’d by the fmc’s adopted sister. (I could be wrong about that and will absolutely edit this when I’ve finished the next book in this series) but so far I believe this to be the situation.
I’m also very particular about my mm, when it comes to reading mm the men have to for sure love the fmc just as much as one another. Otherwise I can’t enjoy the story at all. All the men in this story, adore the fmc all of them are wonderful except Gideon. I’m not really a fan of him yet, I see these brief moments where he cares for the fmc’s well being and is almost defensive of her when it comes to what happened between her and Frost.
However, I’m now 35 % into the next book, ( yes I came back to write this review) and I’m not impressed by him at all. Not when it comes to Finn and especially not when it comes to Evelyn. He hasn’t shown enough of his good side, he has not shown any care other than what I’ve mentioned earlier towards the fmc. It’s not enough for me, especially factoring in the prestablished mm relationship he has with Finn, I need to see improvement and development which I’m hoping to see once I finish the next book. Again mixed emotions because this book is so well written, but in order for me to enjoy a poly like Reverse harem, there has to be equality (equal love probably a better term for it) in the relationship. Granted I’ve only read this book and 35% of the next. There’s def room for growth and I’m obviously into it enough to continue.
Also I love Evelyn, and can’t wait to see her become her bad ass self once more. Finn, Silas and Vane are my fave so far, and they are the reason I want to keep reading.

Mistry has done it again. Her storytelling is absolutely addictive and utterly captivating. I could shamelessly lose myself in her writing for ages and never be bored for a single second. I’ll absolutely be devouring this series as I do all her work.
The way she constructs the harem and their personalities is simply *chefs kiss* I love that there is the most perfect mixture, including an Alpha lycan who refuses to admit how he feels and keeps his distance, two protective beta shifter brothers each unique in their own way, a vamp with a heart made of ice, an omega that’s sweet as pie, and a previous lover that betrayed the FMC, back from “the dead” to (try to) claim his woman again.
We have the very first vampire - daddy, if you will - and his five daughters, one of them being our main girl. Evie was locked away in a silver coffin for almost two centuries as a result of her deception, but now she’s been unearthed to help Cain weed out his enemies and be his executioner once more. Cain’s games have just begun as he toys and manipulates his beloved and most favourite daughter; especially when it comes to the 6 thralls (or bonds) that were thrust upon her once she was let free of her silver prison. He’s always one step ahead and I’m dying to see how they will eventually one up him.
Evelyn is a bad bitch whose been beaten down and bloodied with the hopes of making her submissive but our girl has a backbone made of steel; her sire has no idea what’s coming for him once she regains her full strength and I, for one, can’t wait to see her blossom into a dangerous beautiful killer once more. She’s going to be feral in her justice and I’m salivating at the thought.
The twists and turns keep you on your toes and the ending was utter cliffhanger perfection. Draven clearly has something hanging over him for that betrayal and it better be fucking serious. I’m so excited to see what happens next as it’s bound to be bloody and dramatic; I’m beyond here for it.
4 stars

There wasn't anything necessarily wrong with this book, it just wasn't a story for me. If I didn't buddy read this book with a friend, I think it would have become a DNF. I read the Vice College for Young Demons series last year and absolutely loved it! I was excited to read more from this author this year which is why it was so disappointing that I didn't enjoy this one. I was interested in the beginning but after some point it started feeling like the story was too long and I was never excited to pick it up and continue on with the story. Even though I was bored almost the entire time, I did want to try to make it to the ending because I wanted to see if the ending could convince me to pick up book 2 or not. There is a cliffhanger at the end of the story and usually a good cliffhanger will convince me to pick up the next book in the series because I need to know what's going to happen next but I didn't get that feeling after finishing this book. I think what made it hard for me to enjoy the story was I never felt a connection to the characters. I felt that I never got to know Evelyn as a character besides what we learn about her past in the beginning of the story. I didn't really care much for her relationship with the guys either because it got to a point where it felt like the guys were centering their entire personality around being Evelyn's thralls. I also found it weird that Cain calls Evelyn and her sisters his "children" because he is the one that turned them into vampires but he is sleeping with one of Evelyn's sisters. I don't have any plans to continue on in this series but I do plan to read more from this author in the future.

I’m actually falling in love with Reverse Harem romances especially fantasy ones. This book was SURPRISINGLY really good. And it didn’t soley focus on the romance which I appreciated. There is an actual good plot there. As always with RH I have to pick my favorite and so far Gideon is at the top. I just loooooove the stoic, serious one that makes it his mission to NOT fall for the heroine for some reason or another. And when the do fall for the heroine, they fall HARD! Second favorite is probably Vane because I love how overprotective he is of his brother Silas. There are alpha and omega stuff in this book which is still pretty new to me. I haven’t delved too deep into omegaverse books much but this was really nice. Like the dynamic between the guys felt very much like a brotherhood/family. I really really hope the sequel will be just as good and can’t wait because THAT CLIFFHANGER!!
4 stars She seemed very sane for someone who lost her mind. Definitely didn’t think she would bounce back so quick also didn’t really understand all the secrets that were everywhere. Still really enjoyed tho
I’m actually eager to finish this series! The plot is solid, and the world-building is strong enough that you don’t have to try too hard to understand it. It’s been a while since I’ve read about vampires, and I love the way the author portrays them here. Such a cute book! 3.5 stars
Honestly I think I’m in love with Marie Mistry. This book left me staring at the wall with my jaw dropped. Excuse me Marie? You’re going to leave me on THAT cliff hanger? I’ll be seeing you in the reviews for book two. 🫣

What is your general opinion/ rating of this book? I really liked this book. The female main character was incredibly strong, and the story was excellent. What she had to live through in the beginning part of the book was horrible and my heart hurt for her. I really liked the fact that the main character acted intelligently despite having to face such hardships. I liked that she didn't just fall in love with the thralls that were enforced on her and that she had trust issues. The author did a great job a developing each one of the love interests and their relationship with the main character. The villains were well created. They were clever and had believable motivations. I wish there were more villains that could outsmart the main characters in more reverse harem romances like the ones shown in this story. Overall, this is an excellently written romance with the added benefit of being a reverse harem. I can't wait for the next book.
How intense are the intimacy scenes? The intimacy scenes are vividly detailed. There are only a few scenes and only one mating scene.
At what “burn” level is the romance? The burn level is medium. It’s slow at the beginning and there is are a couple of hot scenes at the end.

This book talks about betrayal, redemption, and trust. Evelyn is one of the five daughters of Cain, a super old and powerful vampire who wants to rule the world. In the 19th century, Evelyn bonded with a human thrall, but has been horribly betrayed and burried in a sliver sarcophagus by Cain for almost 200 years. Now, Cain needs Evelyn to get read of the rebellion and authorized a pack of lycan to unburry Evelyn and teach everything she needs to function in this world. But things aren't as easy: Evelyn isn't the same anymore, traumatized by her imprisonment, and decided to make Cain paid and save her sister Imogen. I like this book and all the world building😊 Evelyn is a very interesting character and following her development and what she has to endure or learn is captivating. I like the guys as well but after reading the end, I'm not sure what thinking anymore🤯🤯 Hell of a cliffhanger here...I'm so sad for Evelyn because it felt like she wouldn't be able to trust anybody anymore 😭 (well, I wouldn't for sure). Next quick!!!!
This is a bit dark in terms of I have yet to see any light. This villain has control over everything…it’s so dark in that and our Evie keeps getting betrayed. There isn’t really anything good about this world that I like and they end up in bed rather quickly due to the bonds. But with all the betrayals, how old Evie is and how long she had been in the box there would be more. The timeframe of the book is also super fast paced.
Overall it isn’t terrible it just isn’t my favorite yet either.
I enjoyed the book and the relationships that are building but it felt at the end every other person was getting betrayed. It was a solid 3 stars until the ending and now I don't know that I want to read book two.
Reading this series reminded me of a story Mark Twain told where, when he was a boy, a preacher inspired him with his speech so much that he wanted to donate the entire $400 he had in his pocket. However, time passed on interminably, and by the time the collection plate came around, he stole ten cents from it.
This series started out very well. The writing was good, the plot was interesting, there was plenty of action, and the main character was supposed to be a badass.
Unfortunately, it all went wrong.
First, the heroine is NOT a badass. She's supposedly her sire's "greatest warrior", "the most powerful vampire Cain had turned in generations", and a general. All she does the entire series is be a fucking damsel in distress. She's constantly needing rescue or protection, and I can count only two times out of the many fights or enemy encounters they've had where she actually did something. As for being a general, ha. There wasn't the slightest trace of strategic planning or command of battle tactics to be seen here. She was just useless.
Second, this is only a reverse harem by a loose definition. See, when I go into a reverse harem book, I expect the heroine to be like a queen bee around whom the harem revolves, treating her as the center of their universe. However, in this series, of the six men in the harem, two of them were already in an M-M relationship with a third one, and with romance involved. This wouldn't have been bad in itself as I've seen this in other reverse harem books. Unfortunately, in this series, the guy in a relationship with the two other guys in the harem was an omega and the heart of the pack. He was already the queen bee and already being pampered and protected, both sexually and otherwise, by the others. When the heroine arrived on the scene, she was just squeezed in as a second queen bee, sharing with him. She didn't even start having sex with some of them on her own merit--it was just because they wanted a third in their M-M sex, or she was supposed to be the conduit for their M-M romance.
It got so that I started being annoyed reading about him being there waiting to be sexed by the other guys in 80% of the sex scenes alongside the heroine. To make it even more egregious, at least two (maybe more) of the sex/ romance scenes were from the omega guy's point of view and not the heroine's.
Which brings me to the third point.
Third, the constant head-hopping. Every chapter had to be from some random person's POV. It served no purpose in 99% of the cases except to be confusing and annoying. It's intensely irritating and immersion-breaking when you're reading and you keep having to stop and page back to see who the fuck's point of view this chapter is now, because it keeps fucking changing for no fucking reason.
Fourth, the romances for the heroine were mostly nonexistent. Their bonds just automagically snapped into place because 'I trust you, teehee'. And a couple of them just magically loved her and she loved them back. That's it. The damn omega got more of a romance scene than she did.
All in all, this series was:
70% story 10% shallow interactions between heroine and the heroes 5% heroine sex with other heroes 10% heroine sex with the other heroes, with the fucking omega competing for attention from same heroes 5% the omega having sex with other heroes and also having a romance

I will say, something that I liked here was that in the dominant-submissive setup, the author was careful to have the dominant hero be concerned about the heroine being able to use her safe word if she felt uncomfortable with the proceedings. There were a couple times he would pause after doing something she gasped at, to see if she wanted to use her safe word, and when at one point she couldn't speak, he gave clear instructions on her tapping something to convey distress instead. It was also mentioned a couple times that she was okay with trying new and possibly dangerous things because she was immortal and healed fast. Bit of ‘safety first’ reinforcement there for readers.
Note: The author dipped into a variety of less usual things here--knotting, werewolf sex in their lycan forms, in addition to the dominant-submissive thing. It was well written and not gross. This isn't a trigger warning since it's highly unlikely anyone has real life memories of the first two, but they're definitely exotic enough that perhaps they merit a heads up.
