I began reading romance novels in 2019 and became instantly hooked. I was inspired to write my own during the 2020 lockdown and first self-published on Wattpad. With the help of Instagram, I gained a loyal following and eventually secured a publishing contract with 4Horsemen Publications. I am a recent but enthusiastic follower of the Dallas Stars Ice Hockey team and in particular the delicious Tyler Seguin. My Seattle Whalers hockey romance series has a loyal following on Instagram and I intend to keep writing about my crazy gang for as long as the readers want them. "I love all of you." I mean, this sentence sums it up. Whenever someone loves 'all of you', you know it's forever, right?
This is Tate and Jessica's story. It follows through on everything it promises. It's a quick, easy read, hot as hell, and full of instalove - and lust.
"How can a woman make me so infuriated but so horny at the same time?" I loved Tate. He's grumpy and grouchy, and a bit on the cheesy side, but he's also kind of adorable. Any guy who likes curvy women and is not ashamed to say so is a keeper in my book.
"He's the most attractive man I've ever laid eyes on, but he's looking at me like I've just kicked his puppy." Jess... connecting to Jess was too easy. I mean, a woman in her thirties, who's come out of a toxic relationship, is curvy and a bit on the insecure side sometimes, but is still looking for love? Emily could actually be writing about me.
Tate and Jess bump heads at work, in a very sexy way. They get on each others' nerves because they're attracted to each other. There's lots of tension between them, sparks flying all over the place, and I loved how much they didn't get along while still checking each other out shamelessly.
"NerdGuy: Are you asking me for a dick pic? [shocked face emoji] [eggplant emoji]" "TeacherGal: Hahahahaha, I can't believe it, but yes, I think I am." Anyway, they're alone, and so they resort to a dating app, Curve Connection, to find someone they can fall in love with. However... fate has other plans. When NerdGuy and TeacherGal are opening up to anonymous strangers online, who are they really confiding in? And where will it lead to?
Remember when I said it follows through on everything it promises? It did that, and a bit more for me. I truly loved them both, and so my only wish is that it was longer. I mean, I love the premise of the story and I wish I could see more of it, more of them. Love really has a way of sneaking up on you!
Thank you, Emily, for this ARC. Totally worth the read!
After her divorce, Jessica “Jess” Vega moved to a new town for a fresh start. Upon her arrival, she is horrified to discover that her new school’s technology is in desperate need of updating. She thinks nothing of it when she hires a tech firm to come fix things, but what she wasn’t expecting was Tate, the surly owner of said company.
Jess and Tate immediately clash, but she needs him to do his job, so she attempts to put up with him. Feeling lonely, she decides to sign up for “Curve Connection,” a dating app for curvy women like herself. She’s amazed when she matches with someone who finally understands and appreciates her. But when she finds out the true identity of “NerdGuy,” will she be able to accept it?
Holy cow, this spicy little novella was fan-freaking-tasting!!! As a curvy woman myself, I absolutely adore romance novels where the heroine is plus size. Bunney did not disappoint! Her writing is fun, playful, and steamy, and I’m so glad I picked this one up! Jess and Tate were amazing and believable characters, and I loved this story from beginning to end! Go read this right now!!!
This was a perfect quick read instalove story that made me smile.
Jess and Tate grind each other’s gears from the get go and it leads to some amazing sexual tension. Jess has her traumas from her past life but is more confident than she really knows. Tate is the grumpy tech guy who falls hard for TeacherGal.
This short novella ends with a combustion of pent up feelings and chemistry. It was hot and left me wanting more!
Tropes older heroine/younger hero (10yrs), enemies to lovers-ish, You got Mail, Neighbors, Employer/Employee.
This was my first Emily Bunney experience and I absolutely loved it. Can’t wait to start collecting her other titles.
This is a nice slow burn story… and when things start heating up… oh baby!! Sit in front of a fan coz they be hot, y’all!!
I thought Jess and Tate were a fun couple. I like that they started off in mutual dislike for one another… and that they only got to know each other anonymously through a dating app. It’s like the universe saying, “look, these two are meant to me no matter what.” They definitely gave me the giddy feels.
My only complaint is that Jess never actually says the words “I love you” to Tate. The declaration is one of the most important aspects in a book for me and I neeeeeeeed the words said from both of the main characters. I know, I know… but it’s my jam!!
Other than that, I will definitely be adding more of Emily Bunney’s books to my library.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. I voluntarily review it and the comments are 100% my own.
4 1/2 stars: Book was great. Loved the characters. Storyline kept me entertained. Gave me the feels and aaaaaaalmost made me cry in some parts.
Jess Vega is recently divorced and the new principal at CBE and wants to make the school more tech friendly.
Tate Harrison and his twin brother own the company Jess employs to help update the school's tech presence.
There's an instant attraction, but because Tate isn't a people person or good with his words, Jess thinks he's rude and annoying.
Her best friend is worried about her love life and signs Jess up for a dating app and makes her promise to at least spend the weekend looking at her options.
Because they are working together, and he doesn't want to say or do anything to lose the contract, Tate decides to join a dating app to try and get his mind off the beautiful curvy older principal he can't stop thinking about.
I resonated with Jess. 1) we are about the same age. 2) I too have been divorced and became insecure about my weight /looks because of my ex husband. 3) and at one point I was interested in a younger man 🤣
This is an instalove, you've got mail style, reverse age gap sweet, sexy novella. Emily Bunney is one of my favourite authors and if you're looking for a cute autumn read, this is a wonderful quick story.
A quick insta-love story that gets you needing a fan and a cold drink.
Jess is a curvy, divorced principal who just started a new job. She wants to upgrade and update the schools tech but needs help. Well in walks Tate, who seems to be a grumpy introvert, who owns a tech company with his brother. The initial meeting did not go well but he hit the job.
They each can't get the other one out of their minds. Tate ends up renting a place and it just so happens to be above Jess. Not the best situation for either of them.
Jess's friend signs her up on a curvy dating site and she gets a message from a nerdy guy. Well, Tate signs up as well as the nerd guy. They start chatting but are unaware that it happens to be the one person that irritates each other. What happens when things get heated?
Emily does a wonderful job of having you laughing at the banter between Jess and Tate. You are in for a fun and enjoyable read with Grading Curve.
Likes: Such a steamy little novella! What I especially loved was how special Tate made Jess feel, after all those years of her ex-husband putting her down. I also loved great enemies back and forth banter. And I'm always a sucker for a reverse age gap!
Dislikes: For me it went quickly to insta-love after such a slow burn start to their romance.
Overview: Such another great addition to the Curvy Soulmates collection! After being stuck in an unhappy marriage for years, Jess knew it was time for a fresh start in a new town. Her new life doesn’t seem to be missing anything, apart from romance. She longs to be desired and treated right, if only she’d accept that younger tech nerd Tate is the one to do that! Read as their back and forth bickering turns into longing touches, heated glances and then so much more…
Grading Curve: Curvy Soulmates is a cute grumpy-sunshine novella about Jess, a sunshiny school Principal who relocates to a new school following a divorce and Tate, a younger grumpy IT man. Their first meeting is a comedy of errors, which does not help their situation. Unbeknownst to Jess, her best friend set up a profile for Jess on a singles dating app for curvy women, then sprang the news on Jess. Meanwhile, the dating app is one that Tate did the coding for and maintains any changes needed to to app. He ends up making a profile on there too. Little do they know that they are each other's match.
One of the aspects that I always like to see in a romance is character growth. There just was not time in this novella to see any growth in the characters, other than the beginning of their relationship. I did really enjoy the dynamic between Jess and Tate. If you have about an hour to read, pick up Grading Curve: Curvy Soulmates for a fun read!
A very well written book. I enjoyed both point of views from each character. The differences in the personality between real life and the online life were fun to witness. The way everything was described brought the story to life for me. This book was easy to ready and once I started, I didn't put it down until it was done. I will definitely re-read this book. The only downfall for me was the length. I was really enjoying the story for it to end, so I just would have liked more. Excellent work!
Great new author for me, loved this grumpy nerdy tech introvert and the fun outgoing principal. I enjoyed how Jess and Tate first clash, yet have strong feelings towards each other both positive and negative. This was a great storyline with many ups and downs, with a dash of fate thrown in just to keep them on their toes. Loved the ending as each own up to just how much they admire the other and have fallen for who they truly are as a person. A fun read with humor and plenty of steamy scenes over texting and video calls.
I am voluntarily leaving a review for this book that I received free.
I enjoyed reading the love story between Tate and Jessica. She became a strong, independent woman after her rat of a husband left. He broke her confidence in herself but she was getting it back after the divorce and a new job. Tate and his brother ran a tech business and was in need of more business or they were going to fail. You'll have to read the book to see how their business lives connect with their private. Business they are cats and dogs,, not knowing they are connecting privately on Curves. It's so good, I hope you like it as much as I have. Written by Cindy :)
A sweet quick read that keeps you engaged. Jess is starting a new job as an elementary school principal, but she unexpectedly gets a chance at finding new love. I truly loved this couple, they were so easy to relate to. (Maybe a little easier for me as I am an aspiring principal and my husband is a teachie.) Jess and Tate put profiles on the dating app for different reasons, I enjoyed how it helped bring them together. I also enjoyed how he made Jess feel about herself. I recommend giving it a try. I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I’ve always wondered why curved woman never made it into books? I always read about a gorgeous-model type women in the books. I love that real women with curves and stuff are getting recognized in my favorite authors books. For Tate and Jess they both are cautious and nerves about dating. Jess has issues that she has overcome due to her ex, Tate just wasn’t looking until a coffee cake smashing came his way. They both bring out the best in each other.
Really loved this instalove age gap (older woman/younger man) romance. Tate and Jess really complimented each other. They brought out the best I each other online and the worst in person! It was fun to watch them realise they were the same person! It was funny, well written and very sexy! The HEA was amazing!!
Quick, hot read. Love it! A short steamy story Jess a recently divorced principal and a grumpy tech she hired to update the school system. When these two first met they have done nothing but irritate each other, but at night through an app. they have a different connection but don't know it's each other they are talking to.
I received an ARC and volunteered to leave a review.
Emily Bunney is 1 of my fav Authors. Her books never disappoint. This book is nothing like her other books. I absolutely loved it. It's certainly shorter than her other books. So if you want a great quick read for a great price this is a great choice. Emily leaves this book with chances for more books like this and I hope she does. Really great book!
I knew I would enjoy this story as I am a huge reverse age gap fan and then you throw in a curvy heroine and a grumpy/sunshine aspect and a “meet online” aspect and I was here for it. This was just enjoyable. It’s not super complex but it’s fun, sweet and steamy. It’s a quick read but just super enjoyable.
Jessica and Tate meet through work yet also meet through a curvy girl app. Yet they don’t know who they are talking to on the app. Sweet novella about overcoming insecurities and living your best life!
I was really excited when I found out that Emily was part of this series and this story didn't disappoint. Two very likeable characters who had me hooked from the go. Whose chemistry was hot an who were amazing. Highly recommended read.
Tate and Jess have a rough first meeting but are still attracted to each other. But it is their alter egos on a dating app that really help them connect in this sweet and funny read.
I actually loved this. I thought for a minute with her being ten years older than him he would be immature but he knew how to hold his own. Her insecurities from her first marriage kept rearing its head but Tate showed her she was perfect in his eyes.

This book was easy to ready and once I started and finish quickly since it was a short story.
Jessica is the new elementary school principal. She's also newly divorced and starting over in life. Her ex was a jerk who tried to control her every move. The first day of school, she runs into Tate, literally. That meeting wasn't exactly pleasant, but his company ended up with the contract. Jessica's best friend is tired of her not dating, so she signed Jessica up on the app. Tate's company wrote the code for it. They actually match on the app. The awkward meetings they keep having are both cringe and funny. The conversation when they find out who each other is was explosive. Briefly touching on problems in pregnancy over a certain age was a nice touch. Most would shy away from writing about pregnancy complications in a novella, so I'm glad they were included.
