The Vineyard Sunset #11

A Vineyard Christmas Guest

Rate this book
A never-before-seen Christmas guest arrives to the island, filled with secrets of her own. The Sheridans welcome a brand-new baby. Complications arise left and right as the Sheridan sisters grapple with another season of changes.

The Sheridan sisters' mother, Anna Sheridan never spoke much about her family, which is why the appearance of her younger sister is a surprise for all of them. She brings with her a host of troubles at the very worst time, as Audrey arrives home from a tumultuous semester at Penn State, just as Christine gives birth to her very first child.

Audrey has had a horrendous time away from baby Max. She grapples with guilt for going after her dreams, as she fears missing out on more essential moments in Max's life, and also questions her feelings for the handsome man she met earlier this year, when Max was in the hospital after birth. Romantic love has never been particularly good to her. Why should she trust it, now?

Christine faces the biggest mountain of all: motherhood. Is she ready for this stage of her life? She's feels as big as a whale and terrified of making every possible mistake.

The Vineyard Christmas Guest will prove herself a missing link of their happiness during a strange and overwhelming Christmas time, with all the familiar cast of Sheridan family members: Susan, Christine, and Lola, plus their daughters, partners, father, cousins, and friends.

Dive into this heartfelt women's fiction series by heading to Martha's Vineyard— a backdrop of white sand and crystal blue waters that follow the stories of the Sheridan sisters. A heartwarming journey of friendship, loss, and love that will have you wanting the next book.

4.5 stars!!

This book is proof that if a series starts to feel stale in the middle, you should persevere, because sometimes and author just needs to pull out some new tricks. Loved this book and the introduction of a new family member, as well as the reveal of a new path for several others. The Sheridans and Montgomerys are one of few literary families I truly wish was real and that I was one of them. I'm enjoying watching Audrey and Amanda really come into their own, Grandpa Wes continue to triumph over his dementia and everyone else constantly eating, drinking.and enjoying each other, the way things should be!

My only complaint is that the damn nostril flaring is back and it brought a friend: cheek puffing. If one more person "puffs out their cheeks" I swear I'm going to scream. And someone in this family needs a dog or Christine's cat needs more air time. Not enough animals here......otherwise a great series. I hope they record more books because I'm almost done!

Continues to be a great series to listen to as I clean out my parents home.

If I didn’t know better I would have thought the story ended here as several storylines were completed but I know better. I’m happy to continue to follow the Sheridan and Montgomery clan.

A Vineyard Christmas Guest by Katie Winters

180-page Kindle Ebook story ends on page 172

Genre: Contemporary Romance, Holiday > Christmas

Featuring: Oak Bluffs, Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts; Penn State, Mom Guilt, Pregnancy, Inn, Lost Family Member Trope, Siblings, Cousins, Drama, Text Graphics, Sing-Song Voice, Mystery

Rating as a movie: PG-13

Songs for the soundtrack: Marshmallow World by Darlene Love, "Give It Away" by Red Hot Chili Peppers, "Winter Wonderland" by Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga, "Silent Night" by Boyz II Men, "All I Want For Christmas Is You" by Mariah Carey, "This Christmas" by Christina Aguilera, "My Only Wish (This Year)" by Britney Spears, "Wrapped In Red" by Kelly Clarkson

My rating:⭐️⭐️⭐️🎄🏝

My thoughts: The story was okay but the romance portions seem inauthentic. My issue was the repetitive language, it got to the point where it felt like instead of telling the story the goal was to use three identical simple sentences instead of one complex sentence just to increase the word count. It seems each book has a phrase or description that is overused and in this story, it was "sing-song voice." By the third time I couldn't hear a sound, it sounded like normal speech to me. The plot was interesting but the execution was so drawn out that I nearly lost interest, and this is a novella. If I didn't already have the next four books (12-15) I would end the series here. There also wasn't a lot of Christmas going on. The story is written like a sitcom with family members disappearing into the background when it's convenient for the plot. The cousins barely exist for each family when the book is focused on a Sheridan or Montgomery sibling.

Recommend to others: Maybe. The series has its moments but it has some flaws.

A Vineyard Christmas Guest: The Vinyard Sunset Series Book 12 is by Katie Winters. Just when you think this series is finished and nothing more can come from it, Katie Winters surprises herself. This book puts an end to several stories and yet keeps them open for another book should she decide to continue. The book meets the highest standards she can.
Audrey is in school in Pennsylvania finishing up her midterms. This has been a very difficult semester or her. She has taken a hard load; but it is definitely more because she has left her son at home with her aunts and cousins. She is missing him terribly. She has one test left and needs to study; but her roommates are celebrating finishing even if they haven’t finished a test. The next morning, she overslept and woke up 5 minutes before the test started. When she made a remarkably quick dash to the test; but the instructor refused to let her in. this brings her grade to a C and her GPA to a low 2 In a day or two she will receive notice that she is unable to come back to that program for the next semester. What a Christmas gift!
When she returns home, chaos has hit. Their Aunt Willa, Anna’s sister, has returned to the island but is having memory losses. She doesn’t know where she came from not how she got back to Anna’s nor what she wants. Audrey takes what information she has to begin a journalistic journey to find out what is going on.

Christmas time is approaching the Island and the Sheridan family. Several plot lines are woven through the book. Early in the book Wes is found dazed wandering the island and searching for someone. At about the same time, a very disoriented Willa turns up at the Inn. As It turns out Willa is a younger sister of Anna Sheridan. Willa seems to be suffer from psychotic issues. The family embraces her, determined to care for her

Meanwhile Audrey is questioning her decision to be in college away from baby Max. Can she be a journalist? Maybe her skills can uncover the history of Willa. Christine’s motherhood is rapidly as the family makes plans for Christmas celebrations.

Thank you to the author for this ARC. This review is my honest opinion.

There’s a long-lost and a new family member in this next installment in the Sheridan family series. I wasn’t sure about Aunt Willa at first with her lack of memory and mental issues. I had a feeling something bad had happened to her to cause her to block it out, but it wasn’t clear what her motives in visiting after all this time. Poor Audrey wanting to be with her son and purse her journalist dreams. I wanted to yell at her roommates for partying when she was trying to study but I guess she could have gone some place quieter. I laughed about Christine’s comment about her college’s response after she wrong the investigative piece. Christine and Zach were adorable with their new baby. As usual there was plenty of drama among the Sheridan sisters.

I love a good Christmas story and this did not disappoint. I loved that Katie Winters focused on Audrey a bit in this book - I have been waiting to see what happens with her being at school and away from Max. There is definitely some internal and some external struggles - but I like the way Audrey resolves things at the end. We also meet Aunt Willa - who has her own struggles that are locked away in her head - not struggling with memory like Wes - but with reality and some psychosis. How the family works together to help Willa is lovely. There is even a Christmas Eve Baby! Have to read to find out more about that one. Overall a beautiful holiday story - one to read for sure.

The unexpected guest in A Vineyard Christmas Guest is the Sheridan sisters' deceased mother's younger sister, Willa, whom they have never met. Willa is really a mystery to them, and she is suffering a breakdown. Audrey, studying to be a journalist, is having problems at school and feeling guilty for leaving her baby Max back on the vineyard while she studies. Christine is expecting her first baby and is fearful. This book's plot was very intriguing. Again, the power of family helps solve problems. no matter how dark and impossible they seem. I loved this message of hope.

The wonderful Sheridan clan bring us together with their lovely Christmas story. A confused visitor, Audrey’s return, and a possible Christmas Eve arrival makes up this continuation of our favorite ladies. As always during the holidays, family comes together to share love and support. Thanks, Katie’s for another great story. I am giving my honest opinion for this ARC.

Just finished the Vineyard Christmas Guest. What a heartwarming book! Anna Sheridan had a sister, Willa, who came to the Sunrise Cove Inn. She is in a psychotic state. Audrey comes home from college for Christmas. Christine awaits the birth of her baby. So much happening in this book. So much love shared in this wonderful family. This was a great book. Thank you once again, Katie Winters.

So I really like Winters books but man her editors really need to keep a list of characters or something because this is not the first time she has accidentally switched a name for a character. She called Kelli’s bf Xavier when his name is Xander. Other than that I liked the book and would have given more stars.

Audrey and Christine’s story

Audrey has been away at college while Christine and Zack watch over her infant son Max. Is being a journalist what Audrey wants or is being a full time mother the answer? At 43 Christine gives birth to a daughter.

So I read previous Christmas book from this author from a different series and loved it, however this book had so many characters and was so convoluted and confusing I had no idea what was happening. It was painful to get through. The storylines were scattered and all over the place.
