With feck all power comes feck all responsibility... right?
The island of Hy-Breasal never disappeared; it simply went into hiding. Secrecy is paramount to protect the veiled realm, but how long can it last? For now, it’s a haven for Seelie fae who don't ask too many questions.

What doesn’t transmit light creates its own darkness...
All that changes when unseen forces mark her for death. She’s spent her whole life running from uncomfortable truths. Before the day is over, she’ll be running for her life. The odds are stacked against her and time is not her friend. To survive, she’ll have to trust forbidden allies and unravel the mysteries of her past. But not everyone can be trusted and it could cost her more than just her life.
Fred must battle her inner demons and a dark force more deadly than anything she’s ever faced before. Will Fred make it home in time to save the ones she loves?
Triskele Castle: Creation is the first novel in an Irish Young Adult Urban Fantasy series. Filled with arse-kicking action, tenacious heroines, mythical creatures and a dash of slow-burn romance. Think Buffy meets A Celtic Legacy with a sprinkle of Winx Saga.
Full of fae fantasy, Irish folklore, & plenty of adventure
The opening of this book drops you into a crazy Irish/fae world, but just keep reading!
The story dives into the beautiful but fiercely competitive fae world unlike any you've ever read!
I loved reading about a girl named Fred who is wholly relatable as she navigates between two separate worlds. Don't we all feel that way sometimes? But we don't all turn into fierce warriors who make tough choices while still retaining our kindness.
A heatfelt journey full of adventure that pulls you into a colorful, mystical world that is uniquely Irish. Well worth reading!
Fans of urban fantasy and coming of age stories will enjoy this lively, action-packed adventure.
Putting a different spin on things, the author sets the story in Dublin, Ireland. Irish myth and legend come to life as Fred (aka Winifred) and new pal Clara face off against a deadly banshee in the streets of Dublin.
Being Irish myself, I heartily enjoyed the author's obvious love for, and knowledge of, ancient Irish folklore. A welcome change from fantasy books grounded in Greek, Egyptian, and Norse mythology - though one that non-Irish readers may take a bit of getting used to at first. I look forward to the next book in the series.
A fantastic journey into this coming of age story!
If you want to be swept away into a world with supernaturals, demons, vamps, and fae with the lure of Irish flair, then this novel is the perfect addition to your day. Though I must say I read it into the wee hours of the night too. The characters come to life with masterful description (who doesn't like reading about a misfit), and I loved the dialogue.
I truly enjoyed this novel jam packed with Irish magical entities. I have traveled around the world, yet I’ve never been to Ireland. The country has a particular intrigue for me & this book quenched a bit of that thirst. I love the Irish word reference guide at the end! This book is clever, with colorful characters. I highly recommend it if you want a good read!
The non-linear structure of this book totally threw me off and kept me confused right until the very end. It's kinda sorted itself out, but it definitely detracted from the experience of an otherwise very intricate and well-thought-out plot with an intriguing magical system and some great world building. If it had been presented in chronological order, I think I would have probably really loved this book.
I loved this book. The characters are richly written and developed, with real, complex relationships. The Irish vernacular transported my to the Emerald Isle and added a great deal of depth and charm. Can't wait for the next one!
I picked up this book as a casual reas and figured it would take me a week to finish. No way! I devoured it the same day. I was drawn in to the magical world within the pages and it only got better as I read. There are some very unexpected twists and lots of adventure, which kept me on the edge of my seat. I loved the character-building, too. I highly recommend this book!
Besides telling an enchanting YA tale, this book conjoured fantastical memories of the Emerald Island which I circumnavigated pre-COVID. I envisioned the cliffs and crags filled with mythical creatures, both fun and fierce. Well done Me. Hughes! SLF
Fred is a on the run and as she stumbles through one problem and the next you can’t help but grow to love her and her tenacious ways. The steady unfolding of her abilities make it a fast & enjoyable read.
