Mature characters with touches of dark humor and some drops of horror.
Enjoyable and easy to read, also really fast to finish and it leaves you wanting more.
If you are a manga or anime fan you will love it.
A hidden gem worth to read.

A superior YA fantasy novel which has a large number of ingredients which make it stand out among the standards of the genre. I found it particularly interesting that Canadian, Japanese, Mexican, and fantastical culture were amalgamated together.

Alva has a talent for writing action and creating demons, both of which I would have liked to see more of as these were the highlights of the book, and it would be great if there was more of this in the subsequent novels.

This novel contained it's own type of mythology that felt original rather than borrowed from standard genre tropes.

I always enjoy when rock bands are incorporated into the novel.

The mix of first-person narrative and third-person added some variety, though I found the first-person narrative strong since it gave me a more intimate glance into Joanna's character.

My main complaint was that the pacing could have been strong as I found the flow of events a bit choppy, but this book still stands out, and makes me curious about what the follow up book will consist of.

This book opens with Joanna and her parents moving to Tokyo, Japan. New people, new place, new jobs (or lack thereof, unfortunately in Joanna's case). Luckily for her, her favorite band, Vortex, is from Japan and, in fact, are having a concert relatively soon.

Two of her best mates come to Japan to visit her and all go to the concert together. After some peculiar things happening to them, it all comes to a head at the concert. From there on, none of their lives would be the same.

This book has it all, folks! Other worlds, demons, magic and magical creatures. Betrayal, twists, love and love loss, "Wind Weaver of Dreams" brings you to wonderful lands with terrible secrets. A book where the past and the present collide!

With all that, there were some grammatical/formatting errors that I couldn't quite ignore. However, this is a book that was originally written in Spanish, then translated to English. Not to mention the author, Luna, speaks more than one language herself, so that in and of itself is impressive.

All in all, while some of the errors were distracting, they weren't detracting from the story. Interesting plot, and I'm looking forward to the second book, "Fire of Life!"

This book was incredible. I cried before the end of the prologue, audibly laughed by page 15, and by chapter two was madly in love with this book. The character depth, lore, and mystery of Axis Mundi was indescribably good. I never expected to find a book that could marry influences from so many cultures and lore and yet create something entirely new and unexpected??
The author has such a way with slowly unraveling mystery and advancing the plot. Even when I thought I knew where the plot was headed, a small character interaction would suddenly open up an entirely different world of possibilities.
I finished this book and felt so greedy. It had been so long since I had read a book that made me want to know the details of every mundane interaction that happened between scenes. One month after finishing this book I’m re-reading it to find every crumb of foreshadowing and Easter egg.
Reading this book felt like falling into the magic of a Studio Ghibli film then realizing that it was actually a world of dark fantasy.

(TLDR: I’m eating dirt. Romance, mystery, lore, broody MLs? Author spoiled us)

I love this story, the worlds and the possibilities. I loved Jiro even more, it made laugh a lot and feel nervous as well. I'm hoping for the second book.

Transport into the enchanting world of "Wind Weaver of Dreams," a fantasy novel that dances to the beat of its own drum, literally! Imagine combining magic, rock bands, slow burn romance, and the mystery of the past into one spellbinding book. It's like having your favorite playlist set to the backdrop of a world where anything is possible.
Silly, creative blurb aside, what I loved most about this book are the characters. Luna does a wonderful job of making them realistic and relatable. Their personalities really shine through the pages. Joanna, Maya, and Dana are the definition of true friendship. The dynamic between the boy band VORTEX is what you would expect from rock stars. All of the characters are woven together in a magical, karmic way that leaves you wanting to know more. The way different languages are woven throughout the book is really cool, and I love the depth it adds to the character’s personalities.
The plot is thrilling, and had my heart racing more than once. There are so many secrets to unfold before they can begin to make sense of what’s happening to them. The mystery is woven deep into the past, and the characters have to look there to find hope for the future. I was not disappointed in the slow burn romance between two characters, like I usually am. It’s pretty obvious they’re going to end up together early on, but the lead up to the relationship was everything I wanted.
My only complaint is the overuse (in my opinion) of exclamation points. It wasn’t distracting from the story, but noticeable. The formatting in the paperback isn’t what you’ll typically find, either. However, I got a sneak peak into the sequel, “Fire of Life”, and both of these are much better.
Overall, I’m giving “Wind Weaver of Dreams” a solid 4.5/5. This book was very well done, and is a perfect example of how self-published books do not always equal bad writing. Definitely give Luna a chance and pick up her book soon (It is available on KU)!

This is not my usual genre but I found it fascinating and quite enjoyable. Fans of Japanese pop culture would particularly enjoy it. We are given glimpses of medieval Japan peppered among the modern Japanese lifestyle of a rock star, through the eyes of three girls from Mexico. It was nice to read a book that was not Anglocentric. However the fact that English is not Luna's first language was indicated here and there, such as "an ace under her sleeve" instead of "up her sleeve" and so on. It was always pretty understandable, however, and these occasional slips just served to enhance the "foreignness" of the story. The magical elements of the story grew slowly as the young people realized their potential - and their past lives. And the antagonist? Wow, I did not see that coming! I am very glad that I put off reading this until the sequel was available - warning - it's a bit of a cliffhanger.

It's been a long time since I read anything that evoked the kind of emotional response that I had while reading Wind Weaver of Dreams. From the beginning you can't help but care about these characters, and before long you're wishing and I would dare say longing for them to find the peace and happiness they deserve.
