The Gulf War took place between August 1990 and February 1991, when Iraq, led by Saddam Hussein, invaded neighboring Kuwait, a small, oil-rich country in the Middle East. His actions horrified and terrified world leaders and average citizens alike, as fears about his use of chemical weapons and his plans for further expansion spurred the United Nations into action.

Eventually, a coalition led by the United States would launch a counter-offensive against Iraq, pushing the Iraqis out of Kuwait and placing limits on their military growth for years to come. As the first major global crisis after the collapse of the Soviet Union, the Gulf War was a test in foreign relations and set an important precedent for how the world’s superpowers would respond in moments of crisis moving forward.

Good to know…

With what is going on now between Russia and the Ukraine, and also the intense fighting between Israel and Gaza, I felt I need to re-educate myself about other wars and battles that went on previously in those same regions of the World.
Reading about The Gulf War, Kuwait and Iraq brought back vivid memories. War is costly. Not only financially but also in lives lost, damage to our environment, and long term physical and mental issues.
Reading this Hourly History gave me a much clearer picture of what went on back then and perhaps what is happening now.

One of its kind, the Gulf War saw a combined assault against Saddam as his misadventure in Kuwait was brought to a halt. However, it had far reaching consequence. The book traces the history and the background of the Gulf War. The events and engagements during the War have not been described at length but still make for an interesting reading

This presents talking points

Although in a short (relatively) volume there will be omissions, be there is missing some illustrations of tree situations alluded to that would have been helpful and desirable. Maybe if the length were sacrosanct, the details could've been substituted in place of some of the proselytizing.

Every war is responsible for lots of blood and life . The gulf war is not excluded that . The hungry people for power in eastern and western are responsible for this kind of war. General People are the sufferer in this war . Nothing happens to the warlords . Wish to have a peaceful world .

Really?

A poorly written, and inaccurate, Jr. High essay. The author should seek local Community College classes to help. Or just give up.
