Enemy Love

Rate this book
I’ve fallen in love with my kidnapper. WTF have I done…

Damian isn’t your typical boy next door, he’s the boy the neighbors hide from, he’s the man your friends tell you to leave alone, and your mother tells you he’s no good.

But I didn’t listen, not when Damian is everything beautiful, wrapped up in the perfect package, with his smooth tongue, and devilish charm.

I kept telling myself meeting a guy like Damian is too good to be true. And I was right. Not everything is as it seems. Damian is hiding a dark secret and the clock is ticking.

I fell for his lies and let him whisk me away to Italy. I expected the romance of a lifetime but found myself in Mafia crime boss hell.

My life is in danger, and I may be in too deep. But surprise protection and love rush in when I least expect it. My life depends on where my loyalties lie.

I must choose wisely or suffer the consequences…

I’m Misty Winters, the “Mother of Chihuahuas”… also of three human children, and I’m the debut author of some new steamy contemporary romance novels. I’ve always been an avid reader, devouring whole books in one sitting, and with my vivid imagination, writing was a natural next step. I love creating plots and characters that can provide my readers with an escape from the everyday. My ability to concoct stories has always been my inspiration, and besides, who doesn’t want to spend the day dreaming up romantic bad boy leads?

I’m an animal fanatic, and my little fur babies, Lulu, Oliver, and Winston, are my cheerleaders while I write. I firmly believe a good laugh can heal the soul, and for those it doesn’t, red wine will do the trick.

Enemy Love is a fast paced, stand alone Mafia romance. It's a short story filled with steamy scenes, violence, has no cliffhanger and a HEA. The book has 10 chapters and the span of about 6 years is compacted into them so, I feel there is not much depth so, my rating is 3.5 stars.
Trigger Warning: Kidnapping, Rape and Murder.

Franny is newly divorced from her cheating ex-husband and hits a club with her best friend, Sasha, dressed to impress. She feels someone staring at her and he's a sculpted God in a 3 piece suit and he dances the night away with her.

Damian is rich, mysterious and goes above and beyond to impress Franny. He asks her to go for a week to Monaco with him on business. Of course she agrees, they join the mile high club and yet he's still being mysterious.

Franny is attacked and taken captive. Turns out her kidnapper is Damian and he's taken the wrong woman. A wrong must be made right and Damian will ensure that Franny will not become the enemy.

I received this 10 chapter book free through Bookfunnel. It is a good first try, but be prepared for some logic errors along the way. The MFC Franny is the narrator. Her tense gets confused between past and present. The first half of the story is told in present tense with a look back to how her marriage ended. The second half feels more like she's relating the events of her kidnapping in the past tense. Franny doesn't show surprise, either, when her boyfriend reveals he is actually part of a crime syndicate. Prior to that she thought he was a regular business man. She also shows no anger at him for kidnapping her but only wants to jump his giant thing after she'd been raped by a different dude while she was unconscious. Me. I'd be spitting mad at the guy for putting me in that situation in the first place. So, not a logical reaction from a woman brutalized. To finish on a good note; however, the author writes well descriptively, using active verbs and good figurative language.

This is a quick ready that involves deceit, crime, fake and real relationships. Franny was married and found her childhood friend and husband cheating on her, divorced and starts her new life. When her best friends gets them tickets to a new trendy club for the wealthy Franny meets a new guy who after 2 weeks takes her to Italy on a business trip. Once there she is taken and undesirable things happen to her. Her captors at both evil and genuinely nice. Once she is able to trust Franco they start a relationship that turns out to be much more. Franco does what he needs to protect Franny from all those out to cause her harm and how she protects herself along the way. These two seem to be just right for one another! This is an enjoyable read, wish there was more! I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

This was an enjoyable Mafia romance story. There was lies, cheating and deception. As a warning to those who need it, there is also kidnap and rape.

Damien is secretive about who he is and this leads to trouble for Franny. Franny has already had a tough experience when it comes to relationships, is Damien too good to be true?

I received a complimentary copy of the book and I'm leaving a voluntary and honest review.

Like a true life mafia experience. It was so realistic that I felt it was a reliving of an event in Franny's life. Very dramatic and sexy.
