A fearsome legend. A long silenced ghost. A modern greed. When her co-worker and friend, Thomas, suggests they search for the long-lost jewels from an old island legend, dive boat operator, AJ Bailey, is up for the challenge. But their innocent hunt leads them to the run-down shack behind the myth, stirring up far more than timeworn dust. The struggle over a precious piece of land begins, rekindling a tragic story of young love in the shadow of World War II and the mysteries left unanswered. Book 11 in this best-selling series set in the beautiful Cayman Islands takes AJ on a wild chase above and below the water. Read in series order or as stand-alone novels.

Love and the sea are good things. But you also have a lot of death, greed, racism, unimaginable sadness and maybe a ghost. Two stories separated by 80 years tied together by a possible treasure. Both stories are well-written and move right along, but the more I think about it, the more I don’t like the earlier story. At all. The previously mentioned death, racism, and unimaginable sadness are from the story from 80 years ago.

Half Moon Bay - a review by Rosemary Kenny.

AJ, Thomas and friends are in at the deep end, in Nicholas Harvey's excellent 11th novel, Half Moon Bay.

A dual timeline switches between 1940 and the present day, telling a tragic love story (of mini-Titanic film proportions), set during WWII, then that of a current feud, between members of Thomas's family and the potential developer of their abandoned, supposedly cursed land and buildings.

Also, of a treasure, (presumed lost decades earlier) that's interwoven with AJ, Thomas and Nora's treasure-hunt, for not only the missing items, but also answers - about the feud, the cause of the curse - and to learn what Thomas's Gran knows about it all/is willing to tell Thomas and his friends.

Riveting stuff - get it today!

Read this book while on a cruise to Grand Cayman and found it rivetting. This is the seventh or eighth book by this author that i have read and they are perfectly constructed mysteries. I love how the stories traverse events in the past on Grand Cayman and tie in to the characters in the present. I always learn a great deal from the stories and love the character development. This one hit on a very sensitive subject: a romance between a rich young British girl and a black Cayman Island boy in 1940 as war was engulfing Europe. One of his best.Thankfully there are many more Aj Bailey books to read.

After reading the entire series, Half Moon Bay is one of the most outstanding reads. I picked up this series from Tropicalauthors.com and was hooked from the first book. AJ's adventures will curl your toes and twist you in "knots" but remember to always keep breathing. Half Moon Bay takes you back in time to a wonderful romance on Grand Cayman as well as AJ's present days doing what she does best.
Filled with adventure and romance you can't help but get feeling of those times of years gone by.
I'm looking forward to AJ and Thomas' next great adventure.

Always a great read.

Great story telling. In this case a good 80 year old mystery and an old haunted cottage has AJ and company on their toes. With Nicholas books, I always feel like I am part of the story and just watching how things unfold. That is the best compliment I can give an author.

Gosh, I feel that each book gets better and better!!! Harvey keeps surprising me with his stories. Now that I know the characters, I’m totally invested in their well-being. So this time, when one of them went missing, it was personal.

A dual timeline format, as Harvey does so well, this one goes from present day to 1940’s Grand Cayman. There is a forbidden love story, heartbreak, and a ghostly shack which remains. There’s also scuba diving for lost treasure…so, double score.

Loved it all. Bravo and job well done, Nick!

Great series!

I'm so glad I found this series. I can't put each book down - wonderful characters and plots. I also love the Nora Sommers series by the same author. Highly recommend!
