Returning home to attend my childhood friend’s Halloween party was perfect timing for me. But I didn’t know what I was getting myself into when I agreed to meet up with Hannah and her friends.
This was such a fun and cute Halloween romance! Malika and Dre meet at a Halloween party and instantly hit it off. They spend a spooky night together and can't believe they click so well. They go to Malika's friend's birthday party the next night and it was so cute how smitten Dre was with Malika. The ending was a lot of fun and I enjoyed the little mysterious element thrown in at the end. This was a low-stakes romance, but it was definitely perfect read for Halloween weekend!
Boo’ed Up is seriously the perfect romance novella to read if you’re looking for something with Halloween vibes, without it being scary or horror. It’s sweet, funny, and gets hot AF. That ending though… I swear that had my jaw dropping. Definitely recommend if you’re looking for something easy and relatively quick to read.
Andre and Malika are introduced at a friends house for a gathering on Halloween eve….the two hit it off and end up spending the night together….The idea of the story was cute to me.l..but, I think I must have missed something because of the way the story ended.
Boo'ed Up didn't quite give what needed to be given. The chemistry between Malika and Dre lit up the pages. Their attraction to each other sizzling and the sex was unbelievably hot! Honey, Dre had a filthy mouth and I was all the way here for it. But, overall, the storyline just didn't do it for me.
After a breakup, Malika heads home to her parents' house for the weekend, choosing to attend a high school friend's 21st birthday rather than the Halloween festivities she helped plan at her now ex's fraternity.
Two nights of parties seems a bit much to Malika, but she reluctantly agrees to both, and meets the deliciously sexy Dre. As the only two Black people at the party, they decide to leave when the Ouija board gets brought out. Their immediate sparks leads to a hot as heck hookup, all weekend long.
But when it turns out a love spell was "cast" can Dre and Malika believe their new love is real?
This was seriously sexy, great characters, and a lot of fun. I'd argue it ends on a bit of a cliffhanger, as Dre and Malika have decided to be a couple, but then they find out dun dun dun, there was a spell.
This story follows Malik’s & Andre. Malika has just broken up with her bf who was cheating on her and decides to go home for Halloween + an old friends birthday. The night before the party her friend invites her to a little shin dig only she doesn’t know she’s secretly being setup, in comes Andre.
Listen from the initial conversation there were sparks between these two. They’re at a party and are the only two black people there so I mean IYKYK. The host decided on playing a game that includes a quiji board and neither Malika or Andre was up for that so they opted not to play. Andre ends up taking her home, it was also pouring raining.
They get to her house and whew tension is rising you guys I could feel it in my bones, the intensity of their connection, the playfulness, their banter there was sparks everywhere. This novella was SO.DAMN.HOT. I was like omg… oh my god… OH MY GOD!!!
Danielle writes these men who you can tell were raised by a strong black woman.. does that make sense? If you get me then you get me. Every single one of her male characters are a book boyfriend of mine. They just get it, they’re respectful, responsible, funny, intelligent, charismatic and they all leak alpha and dominance. Andre was all of that on crack. The steam and spice in here was OUT OF THIS WORLD. The communication? Whew bitch. PLEASE READ THIS. One thing about Danielle is she understands the assignment EVERYTIME. If you want some spooky spice for October don’t be dumb, read this
2⭐️ a Halloween hookup that was definitely spicy ! A bit odd here and there with the plot felt a bit all over place, the smut was “spooktacuilar” over all a fun little read!
Malika and Dre met at a Halloween house party. The attraction and chemistry were immediate. After a night of adult fun…in their case, young adult fun, these two became inseparable. It was like they've known each other for years. Even tho these two are college kids, their level of maturity was top-notch. Dre exuded all the sexy and BDE, especially in the way he takes care of Malika in the bedroom 🥵🥵 The ending, tho!? (Side eye)
Wish I read this on Halloween because it’s the perfect spooky novella. Loved the chemistry between Dre and Malika, they were perfect from the beginning!
Fully read this because Tanya told me to and I regret nothing.
This was a very tasty spooky snack, and a perfect Halloween read. It has everything you could want from a novella--instant attraction, unreal sexual chemistry, and a fun plot to keep things interesting.
I really enjoyed the main character's vibe, as well as her dynamic with Dre as they hit things off right off the bat. Their chemistry was incredible, and the spice was pure chef's kiss.
I'd highly recommend this to anyone looking for a quick, spicy read when you're feeling spooky.
Well, Malika got more than she bargained for coming home for Hannah's party. Meeting Dre took her mind right on off of what's his name, and the ish going on at school! Their chemistry was scorching hot, the flirting and conversation was sexy, then them scenes 🔥! Hannah, her friends, them spells and that seance ish can stay over there! That was the part that turned me off, but I loved Malika and Dre together.
The chemistry between Dre and Malika was so amazing. I loved their instant attraction to each other. The intimacy was so hot and soooo good! I was cheering for Malika for finding such a great guy. I absolutely loved the way Allen illustrated what it’s like to be the only Black person in a social setting. The “what’s understood doesn’t have to be explained” vibes were perfect. I would love to read more about this couple. They were adorable!
As someone who isn’t a big fan of novella’s this one is done PERFECTLY!
This story follows Malika, an HBCU student, and Dre a recent college grad. The two are set up by their friends one Halloween weekend! There is a mural attraction between the two which leads to some amazing chemistry!!
Now what’s Halloween without their friends wanting to do some spooky stuff with a Ouija board. Now Malika and Dre, the only tow black people in the group, aren’t down for this so they leave… but there’s a plot twist that I wasn’t expecting…!!!! (And it was done so well)
The chemistry between these two was amazing, and I loved the banter between the two as well! And let me say as always Ms. Danielle Allen killed it with the spicy scenes!
This book is so amazing, and I’m sad it’s a novella because I want more but it was done so well!!
Listen there’s always the token black friend but it’s cute when it’s two of y’all and you can get a good hook up out of it! Lol Such a fun quick read by Danielle Allen! This story is more towards the YA genre BUT the door was not closed on the sex scenes and they were bomb! This book ended in such a fun twist that made me question if the instant interest was real or did the other elements come into play? Y’all got to read and tell me what you think! No spoilers here! Definitely a WellReadRuby recommend!
Miss Ma'am!!! Danielle Allen...please take all my money. I've never been a fan of short stories or novellas but Danielle Allen has definitely changed my mind with this master piece.
This book is centered around Andre (Dre) and Malika and their steamy romance after meeting at a Halloween party.
Dre can be the father to all my kids!! He's everything! From the way he's attentive to Malika's needs and wants to please her in every way possible. Dre is so smooth, he can talk anyone out of their panties. But above all else, he is possessive and all in when it comes to Malika!
4.5 ⭐️ YES! THIS! THIS WAS GOOD! This is what I want out of all novellas, this is the standard! The spice was great, the writing was so good and the plot and the characters were so well developed for such a short read. I’m definitely going to check out more from this author!
3.5 stars. Short but cute Halloween read, and VERY spicy. I personally didn’t enjoy it that much since I’m not a big fan of smut, but nonetheless a good book.
