Stripped: Poems

Rate this book
A debut collection of poetry that sings with hope!

Written with a raw, authentic voice, every word invites the reader on a journey of grace and curiosity, to arrive at a place of being at home in their skin.

Real, and with a soulful joy that feels like a quiet rebellion, these poems explore themes such as motherhood, autism, T1 diabetes, relationships, grief, loss, spirituality, and nature, with a sensitivity born of personal experience.

‘…a beautiful well-worn heart that shows through each of her poems. She’s a gifted poet and story-teller, weaving a parachute of hope from heartache, trauma, and loss…’

– Bethany H.

‘…a voice that is empathetic, observant, lyrical, and authentic, having both vulnerability and wisdom…’

– Supriya D.

This is a book of poems to treasure!

Liezel Graham is a writer, poet, and textile artist. She writes with a trademark honesty and vulnerability, leaving the reader with a sense of the beauty that might be found at the heart of any human struggle.

Her body of work is a continuous conversation that explores both personal, and interpersonal healing, through the natural world and the use of stories. The author of three full poetry collections, her work is independently published.

'...when a reader finds their way into my poems, I hope that they discover a soft place—a place where they might see themselves and their own experiences reflected in my words. I believe that we are all made up of stories, and that our stories matter deeply, and as a writer and writing group facilitator, I help people to explore their stories—the human experience of being on the cusp of change, and the courage and vulnerability that this requires of us...'

Beautiful. You can so easily find yourself across these pages. Too many favourites to highlight, starting right from the dedication "For you I lay down my darkness" ♡

Both of Liezel‘s books have become dear friends to me. Every poem carries such deep emotion and draws you closer to healing and personal growth. It’s like being gently wrapped in a blanket of love, grace and understanding. Both books are an absolute must-read and I cannot recommend them highly enough!

Liezel Graham knows. Somehow she knows. I read her poems and feel as if she's speaking not only to, but from the deepest parts of me. As if she lives there. Her words make me gasp. Take my breath away and then give it back again, someone fuller than before. Her words have a way. I cannot recommend her, her heart, or her writings highly enough. They are beautiful, all.

The author's poems are so insightful and raw and tender. These poems do what the best writing does - open the parts of ourselves that we prefer to keep hidden and safe. I feel like she knew me, was often speaking to me directly, coaxing the better parts of me to the surface. When the book was done, I was happy to have finished reading it but also sad that it was done.

I've been a fan of Liezel Graham's poetry online for a few years now. Her first print volume is a lovely series of reflections on her healing journey.

This is a stunning collection of poetry. I have followed Liezel online for a few years and she puts into words so many thoughts and feelings that I could never express so eloquently.
