The Accidental Newlywed Game

Rate this book
What happens in Vegas doesn’t stay in Vegas, when one night out turns into a wedding that neither newlywed can remember, from New York Times bestselling author Jaci Burton.

Wedding planner Honor Bellini is in Las Vegas for a work convention when she runs into her sister’s ex-fiancé, Owen Stone, who’s also in town for his craft brewery business. They’re both glad to see a familiar face from home…until a night of drinking leads to waking up in bed together—and a marriage certificate from a wedding that neither of them can recall.

Horrified, Owen suggests an immediate annulment. Honor agrees, but when they spend the day together, their chemistry is overwhelming. Plus, Honor has a flash of memory of their steamy wedding night, and she definitely likes what she remembers. They decide to wait before cancelling the whole marriage thing, though they both head back to Oklahoma determined not to tell anyone at home what happened in Vegas.

The problem is, Honor and Owen can’t seem to stay away from each other—or keep their hands off one another. The longer they keep their secret, the harder it gets to deny how they really feel. Even worse, this huge secret has the potential to hurt someone they both care about. They need to get an annulment before this accidental marriage turns into love.

Oh, I loved it! Owen is a sweetheart! Steamy too.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
First off, can we just say this cover is the bomb? It was what initially drew me to the book and I am so glad I decided to review it. And the pup in the corner?? Too cute!
I am a sucker for the accidental marriage trope and this one was pulled off perfectly. I loved both of the main characters as they had a true friendship going on for years. Plus, Owen is a sweetheart and so all in for Honor. The sparks were definitely flying throughout this one!
The story flowed beautifully and I was engrossed from the start. While I never read the other two stories in this series, I was good with following the storyline and connection between everyone.
There were a few inconsistencies that threw me off but with this copy being the Advance Reader copy, hopefully, they are corrected before publication. Plus, one area of drama was overplayed a bit but I think it was meant to be more of an excuse to stay together.
Overall, The Accidental Newlywed Game is fun, sexy, and a perfect afternoon read for romance and Happily Ever After lovers like me.
Jaci Burton’s sweet, friends to lovers romance was really enjoyable. A fairly lighthearted, funny read with family drama and a surprisingly steamy (but utterly satisfying) romance.
What happens in Vegas doesn’t always stay in Vegas…
Wedding Planner Honor is in Vegas for a work convention when she bumps into her sister’s ex-fiancé, Owen who’s also in town for his craft brewery business. Their glad to see a familiar face… until their night of drinking leads to waking up in bed together with a marriage certificate for a wedding they don’t remember.
They both agree to an immediate annulment but spending the day together leads to some serious chemistry. So deciding to wait, they head back to Oklahoma determined not to tell anyone what happened in Vegas.
The problem is Honor and Owen can’t seem to stay away from each another. And this secret has the potential to hurt someone they both care about—Honor’s sister Erin, Owen’s ex who he jilted at the alter. But could this accidental marriage be turning into love?
This is the first book by Jaci Burton that I’ve ever read and I’ll definitely have to check out the rest of the series because I really enjoyed it. It’s the third book in the Boots and Bouquets series but it does work as a standalone if you haven’t read the previous books.
The romance that brews between Honor and Owen was amazing, their chemistry is palpable almost instantly and the fact that they were friends for years meant their wasn’t as much tiptoeing around their attraction as I thought there’d be, and I really liked that.
I also really loved Honor, who is bold and confident and (for the most part) knows precisely what she wants, as I said I’ve not read the previous books so I cannot say what Owen’s character was like previously but I really liked him here. We do briefly touch on his reasons for jilting Honor’s sister but, it does complicate their relationship—but it makes total sense why they’ve decided to keep the marriage secret.
The romance is soo good, and definitely quite steamy, so if you prefer fade to black or closed door romances you might not enjoy this.
Overall, this is a really cute and satisfyingly light romance that friends to lovers and accidental marriage trip lovers are bound to enjoy.
A huge thank you to Headline Eternal and Netgalley for the e-arc.
It's been years since I've read a Jaci Burton book and diving into this book felt very familiar.
The premise is M E S S Y so I was into that. The hero, Owen, is the heroine's sister's ex-fiancé and he left her at the altar. At the start of the book, Owen and Honor have a one-night stand and also find out that they've gotten drunkenly married in Vegas. 😵‍💫
I wanted to love this one but the chemistry wasn't really there for me. I never quite got why the two were into each other. I read this book for the dog though and she was a cutie. 🥺
Thank you to Berkley for a complimentary ebook in exchange for an honest review.
The Accidental Newlywed Game was messy, fun, and steamy! I’ve never read a Jaci Burton book before, but the blurb about the accidental Vegas marriage caught my interest. I didn’t realize this was book #3 of a series! At first I thought that the beginning was a little abrupt, jumping right into the conflict, but it makes a lot more sense when you consider that I missed the backstory of the first two books.
In the previous books, Owen left Honor’s sister at the altar. Honor always had a thing for him, though, and apparently he for her. Talk about messy! I’m a fan of a forbidden romance, though, and Honor and Owen had good chemistry when they were on their own. I’m very curious whether it was set up like that in the previous books! Owen seemed like a sweetheart, and of course my favorite part was the rescue dog.
I loved the vineyard wedding venue setting, and I wish we got to see more of the family and business dynamics. Again, maybe that’s something I missed in the previous books.
I wasn’t sure why Honor didn’t just take Plan B if she was so worried that she might be pregnant. The whole possible-accidental-pregnancy storyline was a little awkward, as there was all this buildup with her worrying and then one day she was suddenly drinking heavily again and oh by the way, she got her period so there was nothing to worry about.
I’m definitely interested in checking out the other books in the Bellini Sisters series.
Jaci’s books are hit or miss for me, but I just keep trying.
I really liked the first half of this story. Honor and Owen are good people with good chemistry and it was amusing reading them try to navigate things. As soon as the family knew they were dating, it became a lot of telling instead of showing and there was a lot of times I needed to characters to sit down and have a conversation.
I kept reading because I wanted to know how it played out, but definitely skimmed here and there. I’d like to say that this is probably my last attempt, but if there’s more to this series, I’ll likely read it.
**Huge thanks to the publisher for providing the arc free of charge**
If you don't assume that Honor and Owen end up married after running into each other in Las Vegas and then spending the night drinking, you don't read enough. As soon as Honor realized the man she saw was Owen, I knew there would be a drunken wedding, I just wish that we could have seen that.
I thought the 2 of them dealt with things pretty well in the after math considering they were friends and the history they had. I liked that both were smitten and a bit afraid to do anything about those feelings, but definitely not ready to dissolve the marriage. It was fun to see the 2 of them get to know each other on a different level and as much as I hated them sneaking around, they needed that time to themselves to let those new feelings develop.
I hated how they were forcibly outed and the how things shook out from there. I was upset with Erin, yet when things were explained, her anger made sense. I'm glad that things were cleared up and Owen and Honor were able to figure out what they really wanted, to stay married and build a life.
Read this review on Fresh Fiction
Jaci Burton returns to her Boots and Bouquet series with an interesting concept. Honor Bellini is a wedding planner and she attends a convention at in Vegas. There she encounters her sister’s ex-fiancé Owen Stone who is there on business as well. As they have a drink together, they begin to get closer until they find themselves waking up in a hotel room together with no recollection of what happened the night before. The only clue is the wedding certificate that states that they are married.
I think a lot of people will be interested in this kind of concept. However, it did take me a while to enjoy it. I think the problem was in the fact that Honor and Owen really felt like just friends to me in the begging of the book. I didn’t get that romantic vibe from them at all until much later. So I think that played a part in how the romance panned out for me. Nevertheless, I do think that the chemistry started to show itself more when they left Vegas and headed back to Oklahoma. I feel like that’s where the romance really got going.
So while THE ACCIDENTAL NEWLYWED GAME had a slow start for me, I did enjoy it. Burton’s writing flows nicely and is very easy to read, making it a quick read. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoy Harlequin novels or wedding-themed stories.
This is the first book in this series that I have read and now I'm curious about the previous two and will have to go back and check them out. This light-hearted romance was filled with steamy scenes, family drama, and witty comments.
Honor and Owen have known each other for quite some time so it wasn't unusual for them to hang out in Vegas when they realized they were both there. What they didn't expect was to get married, but that is what too much tequila will do to you. Even though they can't remember the ceremony, they both think that maybe something is there between them. Is it chemistry? Lust? Only time will tell.
We've all heard about people that get married in Vegas by mistake...well maybe not a mistake, but it is a drunken event and you have to wonder why they allow people to get marriage licenses if they are intoxicated? They did, and now they have to figure out how to handle everything because Owen was previously engaged to Honor's sister, Erin, which could make for a sticky situation even though Erin was happily married now.
Honor and Owen do have chemistry so it begs the question, why are they trying to get an annulment or divorce? Wouldn't it be better to try dating since they have hot for one another? Or maybe it is more fun sneaking around and not letting everyone know what happened until much later.
There are some family dynamics that come into play once the truth is out there which causes people to take sides. It is one hot mess and it takes some time and conversations between Owen and Honor to realize they should maybe stay together.
And let's not forget the rescue dog! Dogs always make a story better.
We give this book 3 1/2 paws up
What a wonderful friends to lovers story The Accidental Newlywed Game was. Cute and funny at times, steamy and romantic at other times. Jaci Burton really drew me into this story and made me appreciate the lengths people will go to to protect the people they love.
Honor and Owen were both honorable and had chemistry that just oozed off the pages. They both know staying married is risky but, do they have a choice? Do they really want a divorce? Yes, there is major history between Owen and the Bellini family. They forgave him, they understood but, will they understand this and can he be forgiven … again?
The family dynamic throughout this story was fun, frustrating and refreshing. The Bellini sisters are all different but they work as a family. I love the way that Mama Bellini made them settle their differences. I could totally picture it in an Italian family because, who else but the mother has the power in the family or the last say?
I thoroughly enjoyed this story from beginning to end. The story was fluent and flowed off the pages. I can always depend on Jaci Burton giving us a fun and sexy story, engaging characters and the perfect mix of humor, heat and romance. And, throw in Bettie and your heart just melts with all the cute and cuddlies. A little bit of angst, a lot of humor and a whole lot of love. The Accidental Newlywed Game was a pleasure to read.
The Accidental Newlywed Game, is a totally enchanting story of two star-crossed lovers. Whose stars just happen to align in a most unexpected way. After a tequila inspired trip down the wedding isle. And so much more. After what amounts to a chance meeting in Vegas.
The problem...
To say that these two have a history would be the understatement of the millennium!
Not only did they grow up as best friends.
Owen was once the love of her older sister Erin's life.
Check the past tense there.
Can we say hard feelings, disappointment, and regret.
But...
As Honor and Owen's predicament does more to bring them together than to drive them apart.
They must come to terms with the fact that the undeniable chemistry that they feel for each other has the potential to be so much more.
If that is, they are brave enough to bring their relationship out of the shadows and into the light.
This is a beautifully written, emotionally compelling, romantic underdog story. That will have readers turning pages with crossed fingers and full hearts. As we witness the coming together of not just the lives and hearts of Honor and her leading man. But the healing of a family in the process.
Another aspect of this read to love is the fact that Owen is a Cancer survivor. Seeing Honor be there for him. Even though it was quite clear that the whole ordeal unnerves her. Really is enough to let you know that even though she may not be ready to admit it. She is a woman in it for the long hual with this man.
And this, as it turns out.
Is just one example of many where the proof of love is more than evident in both puddings.
But I digress.
This is a wonderful one-sitting read that once you start, you won't stop reading until the end.
May I say that this reviewer is chomping at the bit for more!
Next book please ma'am?
I think the only reason I did not DNF this was because it was an audiobook and I was listening while doing other things this weekend and in the end it worked mostly as background noise.
I got it because the blurb sounded interesting and promised a good, romantic conflict. But that is not what happened for me.
I felt there was a curious lack of emotional heft and urgency given the conflict. The first part of the book where Honor and Owen wake up married in Vegas after a drunken night (that neither can remember) felt rather bloodless. Oh, hey look we're married. Ok let's go back home and work on getting a annulment and keep it a secret while going on about our day to day business. I felt no real chemistry or anything below the surface. Just a reminder they were keeping it a secret from family and friends while consulting a lawyer and waiting to see if Honor might be pregnant (cuz they have no memory if they practiced safe sex).
When everything finally does come out, the story got marginally more interesting and at least some emotion leaked through. But even that couldn't disguise the fact that so much of it just felt manufactured for plot and much of the motivations of the character actions at this point felt rather illogical.
My overall takeaway is that the characters all felt were being moved around to serve plot. At no point did I feel like I was reading a story about characters who acted within their own logic, but everything, every character every action was a neon sign that said "the plot needs this." And again, I felt no emotional depth.
The story itself felt simplistic and too many people were invested in the everything the MMCs did. Everything just felt very 1 dimensional.
Thank you to Net Galley for the ARC of this book, This is an honest review of my own.
I know Jaci Burton is a mainstay in romantic writers, I have yet to read other books in this series. This book was an easy read, I would say perfect as a beach read. A book that you can pick up and put down without too much worry.
The story is a cute one the only issue I have is that the reasons they keep the marriage from her family feels a little flimsy but it was a cute quick read and helped with my readers block.
I will be trying more of Jaci Burton's books, especially on vacation.
Soooo, I’ve read the two first in this series and enjoyed them, therefore I thought would enjoy this one also. I was wrong.
This third book of the Bellini sisters didn’t engage me as the other two and I didn’t feel the chemistry between Honor and Owen.
There are also some things that not adding up, like Owen thinks Honor is his go-to person that he can talk to about everything but a couple of pages later Honor comes to his house that he bought last year and she has never been there. What?
All in all, this one was not for me, unfortunately.
Is there any better way to spend the hottest day of the year, than reading a rather hot romance? I can't think of any, and this certainly didn't help my heat levels, as this had clear sexual chemistry from the off.
Of course the fact that Honor and Owen don't initially realise what they have done is the stuff that films are made of! It's great, and then watching them work out what on earth to do with this info and to start to try to unravel it is fun.
I didn't realise until after I had finished the book that this was the third book in a series about the Bellini series, so I can safely say it can easily be read as a standalone. However given how much I enjoyed it, I am sorry that I hadn't read and had the full background on the other two sisters.
I loved the Bellni's but I also thoroughly enjoyed Owen, and his new furry friend too.
I really enjoyed the various layers to this story, and given it's my first book from the author thoroughly enjoyed her writing too. This certainly won't be my last Jaci Burton book.
I fabulously hot and entertaining romance guaranteed to distract you from the reality of life for a few hours while you lose yourself between the pages.
Thank you to Headline Eternal and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.
A fun and emotional friends-to-lovers book. This is the third book in the series and can be read as a stand-alone, though the experience is richer if you've read the others.
Honor and Owen have been friends for a long time. When they encounter each other in Vegas, where both are on business trips, they get together for a drink. One drink turns into shots; the next thing they know, they wake up in bed together wearing wedding rings. Neither has any recollection of how it happened. Complicating matters, Owen is her sister Erin's ex-fiancé. Their initial reaction is to apply for an annulment immediately, but they hold off until they find out if there are consequences from the wedding night they don't remember. They also plan to keep what happened a secret from everyone at home.
I enjoyed watching the relationship between Owen and Honor develop. I understood the initial impulse to keep what happened a secret. Owen walked out on his engagement to Erin right before the wedding with no explanation, creating heartache and hard feelings. It wasn't until the end of the first book that they discovered he had panicked over his cancer diagnosis. His relationship with the family has recovered, though Owen still feels a lot of guilt over his actions. Neither Honor nor Owen wants to cause Erin any distress, even though she has moved on and is happily married.
Keeping the secret proves to be very complicated. Owen is friends with the family and with the sisters' menfolk. Honor and her sisters run the family's wedding business together, are very close, and don't generally keep secrets from each other. Honor and Owen find themselves wanting to spend more time together, and when they do, the sparks fly. I loved seeing them together. They have so much in common; their interactions are fun, easy, and realistic. Owen is a sweet guy who enjoys taking care of Honor, from cooking for her to adopting the rescue dog she loves so much. Honor is a strong woman who has no problem standing up for what she wants but doesn't want her actions to hurt someone else. I especially liked when she went with Owen to his doctor's appointment.
The longer Honor and Owen go without confessing, the harder it gets. When the truth comes out, the fallout is immediate and intense. Battle lines are drawn, and the tension is off the charts. Owen, Honor, and Erin all need to face their feelings before moving on to the future. The ending was fantastic, emotion-filled, and heartfelt. The epilogue was a terrific wrap-up.
I loved the setting of the book. The Bellini Winery/wedding business provided many laugh-out-loud moments that relieved some of the building tension. There are also more family dynamics, from Honor dealing with her sisters' inconvenient nosiness and matchmaking to Mama Bellini's cure for sisterly tension. I also enjoyed getting to know Owen better and seeing his joy in his work. He won my heart when he adopted the dog, Bettie, and she became such a big part of his life.
Ruthie – ☆☆☆☆
This is the third book in the series, and I would highly recommend that you read them in order. The three Bellini sisters run a wedding/events business with their mother at the family vineyard. Each book has concentrated on the romance of one of the sisters.
Honor has a bit of a reputation for being averse to romantic entanglements, so the fact that she manages to end up married to her older sister's ex-fiancé is surprising only if you forget how much tequila they drank!
Owen ran from his initial wedding due to a devastating cancer diagnosis, and has since been welcomed back into the Bellini friendship fold – although always with a little distance being maintained. He is not sure how his recent unplanned marriage to Honor is going to play out, but it doesn't seem like it will be good... From the moment they wake up together, we know that the scene has been set for some really complicated encounters.
I love the whole vineyard set up, the different relationships which exist between the sisters, their parents, and the men in their lives. Not only do we get some insights into the businesses that they run, but also the complexities of group friendships and the dynamics at play in such a close-knit group of friends and family. I was so sad for Owen when his reasons were revealed in book one, and this turned the situation around and restored (eventually) harmony to the family.
A really lovely, thought-provoking, and ultimately romantic read!
Brought to you by OBS reviewer Heidi
Honor has always had a crush on Owen, but when her sister started dating him, she knew she could never be with him. He ended up running out on Erin days before they were supposed to be married when he got his cancer diagnosis. Erin went on to marry Jason, but Honor knows it would hurt Erin if she ever tried anything with Owen. However, they are all still good friends.
Honor thought nothing about having drinks and dinner with Owen when she ran into him in Las Vegas. However, neither of them expected to get hammered and wake up in bed together the next morning, married. They both agree that an annulment is in order, if Honor can only keep the drunken wedding a secret from her family until then.
However, it’s harder to dissolve the marriage than either Honor or Owen expected, and in the meantime the two are growing closer together. Can the pair do what they have set out to do, or will they finally give in to their hearts’ desires?
This was an enjoyable read from start to finish. I wasn’t a fan of Owen in the first book of the series, The Best Man Plan. However, he has redeemed himself. I especially loved when his protective side came out when Honor’s family was being ridiculous. Someone needed to stand up for her, after all.
I thought Erin was a total brat once she found out about Honor and Owen. You expect some hurt, but she went a bit overboard with it. And, I was disappointed to see the way their mom handled the situation as well. I just expected more from the perceived perfect matriarch of the family.
Overall this was a great book, and I hope Burton finds a way to extend this series now that the three Bellini girls have found love. I mean Mae is right there and could definitely use a good romance.
I have really enjoyed this series with The Accidental Newlywed Game being perhaps my favorite. The meet/cute isn't exactly a meet since these two grew up together but it was fun. What a surprise to Honor when she looks over and there's Owen checking into her Vegas hotel. Her heart skips a beat since she's still into him. And man, does he look good. He's been taking really good care of himself. They agree to a drink and dinner but things get way out of hand and in this case what happens in Vegas can't stay in Vegas. Legal documents don't just disappear when you leave!
Honor has always been in love with Owen. Even when he was engaged to her sister. She never let on because she's got honor and would never try to undermine her sister. Owen has been through so much and made the wrong choice to do it all alone. He's back to good health and socializing with his old friends but there's still some tension over his past behaviors, if only in his mind. They're in a pretty good place both to start a relationship but...there are a few things to resolve. First and foremost, Erin, Honor's sister and Owen's former fiancé, isn't going to like that they're seeing each other even though Erin's now happily married. Honor's relationship with her sister and Owen's relationship with the entire clan will take some work. But what really do they need to do? Can't they just annul the marriage and it's like nothing happened? Well, that wouldn't make for a very exciting book though. Of course, these two are fated and cannot keep their hands off each other. To top that, they really like each other's company.
It was fun to watch Honor and Owen because they're so natural together. It was so obvious to me, the reader, that annulment or divorce was not the answer. For these two to split would be a huge mistake. There's lots of emotions including stress between the sisters over the relationship and even more stress when everyone finds out they've been married for awhile. These stresses added a nice element to the story.
I was so glad to finally see these two get their Happily Ever After because they're just the nicest and most deserving and fit together so well.
Thanks to NetGalley, Berkeley Books and the author for the ARC.
(free review copy) I’ve read the whole series so far and I always love the family dynamics and the vineyard setting and the wedding planner stuff. But the actual writing and some of the manufactured drama is a bit eye-roll worthy for me. But will I keep reading the series of it continues? For sure, because these are the perfect books for times when everything is too much and my brain and everything else hurts.
This is a charming and humorous book with a fun premise and quirky characters. I couldn’t put it down! Honor and Owen are friends, he was engaged to her sister. They meet by chance in Las Vegas, have too many shots, and wake up married! Honor dreads telling her family and friends, but as time goes by they start to feel happily married. They have real feelings for each other, and have to figure out what’s next for them. Romcom readers will love this book! 4 stars.
I received an eARC of this book through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This was such a cute conclusion to the Bellini sister stories. At first, I was a little put off by the pairing, mainly because Owen ran out on Erin in the first book, but I grew to love and respect Owen and think that he needed a redemption story. Their love was so sweet and you could feel the emotion pour from the pages. I'm so happy that each sister ended up with the one they were meant to spend their lives with.
The Accidental Newlywed Game
by Jaci Burton
Honour Bellini and Owen Stone had a chance whilst they were in Vegas for conferences. After having a drunken evening drinking tequila shots they wake up naked and married then their problems start. As Owen was previously engaged to Honours sister and abandoned her a few days before the wedding. They keep it secret whilst they find out about an annulment. When their secret is eventually revealed there is family friction.
This book has humour and begins a lighthearted easy read for a lazy afternoon, 3.5/5
I wanted to like this book. I did. But I had a hard time connecting with the main couple. This was odd because I loved the pairings in the other books in the series.
The story felt rushed and messy at times. For example, we learn the couple always had feelings for each other growing up, but Owen dated and then became engaged to Honor’s sister. What? And the unnecessary family drama had me rolling my eyes.
I will continue to read Jaci’s books, as I do like them, but this was a miss for me.
2.75/3.0 out of 5.0 stars.
The last thing that wedding planner and all round good girl Honor Bellini could have ever expected was to get hitched while in Las Vegas for a work convention, but when she runs into her sisters ex and old friend Owen Stone the two hit it of and what was supposed to be just two friends catching up somehow turns into a wild night in sin city, one that ends with the two of them married! With both of them in total agreement that their best option is to have a fast annulment without anyone from home finding out, they set out to do just this but somewhere along the way they both begin to realise just how comparable they actually are which is how they find themselves putting the annulment on hold until they head back home, all they have to do is keep things on the down low…well this is proving to be a lot harder then either expected… with their secret becoming increasingly harder to keep on the DL they need to figure out what they pan on their very real marriage…
..
I am such a big fan of the whole accidental marriage trope, this trope is always insures loads of laughs along side one hellva cute romance. This is the first book in this series that I am reading and it will definitely not be the last, I loved the easy and relaxed writing style that made this a breeze to read.
..
Both main characters were just adorable, I loved that they has this shared past and that Honor has had this mini crush on Owen all this time but because of her sister she had never made a move. I really loved the whole What Happens In Vegas vibe that ran through this book and that their entire relationship had this playful nature to it. I really liked getting to see Honor a girl that was so apposed to getting tangled in romantic relationships actually falling in love with the guy that she accidentally marries. As for Owen well his story was a bit more deep, after running away from his first wedding after a cancer diagnoses he is back in town and in remission, however the last thing that he expected was wind up marrying the sister of the women he was set to first marry. Talk about an awkward situation. But I have to say things work out perfectly for this couple and I really liked that they both got a second chance at happily ever after.
..
The Accidental Newlywed Game is definitely worth checking out, if your looking for a cute read with loads of family dynamics and drama then this is the book for you.
The Accidental Newlywed Game by Jaci Burton is the 3rd book in her wonderful Boots and Bouguets series. The story revolves around the Bellini family’s winery, the three sisters (Erin, Brenna, Honor), who also run a wedding planning business.
Honor Bellini, our heroine, is the wedding planner for the family, with her attending a convention in Vegas. She encounters her sister Erin’s ex fiancée, Owen, who is also in Vegas for his craft brewery business. Since the family has forgiven Owen (he walked away a few days before the wedding), after learning why he left (cancer, chemo, et). Honor was happy to see Owen, a familiar face and together they spent the evening drinking at the bar; until they wake up in a hotel room together, with no recollection of what happened. Then they discover a wedding certificate showing they are married. At first, they decide to get an annulment, but Honor convinces Owen that they need to wait, since they have no idea if they had sex, and if she could be pregnant; so, they agree to go back home, and not tell anyone.
Both Honor and Owen began to spent a lot of time together, and the chemistry between them escalated, as they can’t seem to keep their hands off one another. Honor had a hard time keeping the secret from her family, especially as her relationship with Owen continued to bring them even closer. Will they get the annulment/divorce or stay together? How will Erin handle their relationship when she finds out?
What follows is a slow build romance, with a couple that was unexpected, especially with Owen. What I loved about this series is all three sisters, the wonderful Bellini family, wedding/winery business; and the great group of friends we have met throughout the series. I rooted for Owen and Honor, as they really made a cute couple; and loved the dog, Bette. I also liked Mae, and loved seeing all of the family again.
The Accidental Newlywed Game was an enjoyable story, especially seeing everyone. Jaci Burton has created a wonderful group of characters that are so much fun and enjoyable; with wonderful couples and family. The Accidental Newlywed Game is a wonderful romance that was fun, entertaining and sexy. If you enjoy wonderful romances, then look no further than Jaci Burton.
Lately, I've had a bit of trouble getting into the books I've been reading. I figure it has to do with the fact that it's summer and warm out. It's easy to get distracted. But with The Accidental Newlywed Game, I had no issue jumping into it and loving it right away.
I was so glad to finally get Honor and Qwen's story. I knew we had a chance for some drama and the story didn't let me down.
I wasn't sure how the title would match the story. I hadn't read the description so I went in blind and I was so glad for it. I totally loved being shocked about why and how they got together. The author did a great job of making you feel just as shocked as the characters.
I loved Honor and Qwen's interactions together. How they didn't know they were perfect for each other in the beginning is a shock to me. They are perfect together. Right away you see that Qwen will do anything for her including getting a pet.
You'll love seeing how they fall in love and don't even know it or want to believe it. They both have a ton of guilt because of Honor's sister Erin and all that went down between her and Qwen so I think that makes it harder for these two to share their true feelings.
One of the best parts of the story is the conflict between the sisters. Having a sister I know how we act with each other and how we can at times refuse to speak to each other but in the end, work it all out. That part of the book was very well done. As a whole, this is a great story that you'll really enjoy reading. I will say that it is better if you take the time to read the series in order because it makes each book easier to follow. Plus it makes Erin's anger much easier to understand if you read her story first. Not to worry the who series is very good and easy to read.
