Three cupcakes, two knives, and one dead body equals... An unsolvable mystery?
When Milly Pepper is invited to cater a closed-door Halloween party by the “popular people” of Star Lake, Iowa, she feels like she’s finally being accepted by the townsfolk. But when she arrives at the exclusive mansion on the outskirts of town, she’s kind of… creeped out. And not in the good “fake blood and vampire teeth” way.
The occupants of the mansion, from the butler to the host, have dark secrets, and Milly’s determined to get her pay and get out while the getting’s good.
Until the clock strikes midnight on Hallows’ Eve, and the power cuts. And… Milly Pepper stumbles over a dead body in the dark.
It’s the host. And she’s been stabbed with one of Milly’s knives!
If Milly can’t prove her innocence, she’ll lose her father’s café, her pet bunny, Waffle, and her freedom.
Join Milly as she solves the unsolvable crime in the second installment of the Milly Pepper Mystery Series.

Milly, the owner of the Starlight Cafe is catering a party for Norna Jensen. She is the leader of The Bakers a cut-throat group in town. Noel and Fran are helping her with this important party. After the party is over, everyone is spending the night in Norna's mansion. When the lights and heat go out, Milly goes to see if a breaker was tripped, but Milly almost trips over Nona's body lying on the kitchen floor with one of HER knives in her back! Detective Freedman is not pleased to see her at another murder scene. Not only was one of her knives used to commit murder, but one of them is also missing. Why would anyone want to set Milly up for murder? Can she prove she is innocent? I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
It was fun to get back to Iowa with Milly Pepper and her friends and adorable little Waffle! There was the murder along with a side story that may or may not affect the ownership of her cafe, yikes! Not gonna spoil that, you'll need to read and find out.
I hadn't really guessed the killer but it made sense. Wow the people in those Butcher, Baker and Boating groups can really be a piece of work, lol. But a nice ending was had by all!
A great new installment in the Milly Pepper cozy mystery series. Milly is still adapting to life in Star Lake and running the café she inherited from her father. I found the characters engaging and the murder mystery interesting. I enjoyed reading about the different groups; Butcher, Baker and Boating.
This was a well written story with so many good concepts. This was an adorable cozy and a lot of fun to read. I love the mystery. I really enjoyed this book, I wish it was longer though. I’ll definitely be reading the next installment in this series.

Overview: Millie Pepper has a new catering job. Nora Freedman, head of the Bakers, is having a Hallowe'en party at her mansion. Too bad she is found with one of Millie Pepper's chef knives in her back. Millie is positive that she should be cleared as a suspect, as she is missing two knives from the case. One is in Nora, where is the other? When the town starts to turn on Millie, what can she do? The killer must be found. And why is Gram so preoccupied? Let's find out.
Dislikes: Uh, the Bakers group should be fielding a lot of trespassing and breaking and entering charges. That's the very least that they could be charged with. This is simply because the fact that Nora's second-in-command references Millie's private, in home, discussions with her pet rabbit. There's no real reason that she could have known anything about Millie's habit of talking to Waffles, without Rebecca leaving a bug somewhere in the house.
Come to think of it, the Boaters, the Bakers, and the Butchers all acted as if they hadn't left high school behind when they entered the workforce.
Likes: Gram was willing to hear out a painful situation in regards to Thomas.
Sue was willing to help Millie think out her solutions, and her problems.
At least Millie was smart enough to hire people who could cook at her cafe.
Conclusion: I think I'll stick with Watson, Ruby, and Bee as the detectives from Mrs. Point. This novel was just a little too much high school drama for my tastes. Enjoy the read.
Milly Pepper is back and still working hard to make her father’s and now her cafe a success. She’s really happy to get the business catering a party of one of the local bigwigs, until she finds out that the only reason she was asked was because Nora a Baker (one of the three factions in town) is trying to convert her. Unfortunately for Milly Nora who is fairly universally unliked is murdered and Milly’s monogrammed knife is the murder weapon. Once again faced with trusting the police who are lazy at best and incompetent at worst or investigating herself Milly turns sleuth to clear her name and restore her reputation. An exciting and unpredictable mystery in a wacky small town. Milly, Gran and Sue are just lovely and enjoyable to read about. The town is kinda crazy with their three pseudo unions which seem more like old school mafia that community organizations. They do make the solving of the mystery challenging and fascinating. Great characters, fun setting and a fantastic mystery. A must read for sure!

One of my favorite concepts in books, movies, games, you name it, are locked-room murder mysteries. And Point did not disappoint! I found the characters engaging, the murder mysterious, and the external circumstances interesting. My only complaint is that I wish it was longer! There were so many good concepts evolving in this book, but a lot of the time they stopped short of realizing their potential. Point has a plethora of great ideas here, from the clues pointing to the killer, to the internal drama of the town and its upper-crust clubs, to the interpersonal relationships and conflicts of Milly, the main character. At times though, these pieces were very bare-bones, lacking the meat to really bring this story to fruition. I really enjoyed this book--what was in it was beautifully done--but I think it could have been one of my favorites if there was only a little more to it. I'll definitely be reading the rest of the series as its released, keeping my fingers crossed for a lengthier installment.

When Milly Pepper is hired to do the catering for a Halloween party for Star Lake’s “popular” group, she hopes it will help with the popularity of her café. Because the party ran so late into the evening, those working the party were offered rooms for the night. But when the power goes out, Milly goes to look for the breaker box. However, she ends up stumbling over the dead body of Nora Jensen. Apparently she has been stabbed with one of Milly’s knives, which makes her the most likely suspect to the police. Once more starting her own investigation to clear her name, can Milly track down the murderer?
I love these stories! Poor Milly is struggling for acceptance in the small town, but things never seem to go smoothly. Now she faces more bad publicity unless she can solve this murder. Grab your copy and watch her search for clues before she ends up losing even more business at her Café.
I enjoyed this cozy mystery story with all of the characters. The main character was Milly Pepper.
Milly Pepper has been invited to cater a Halloween party. She finally feels like that the townsfolk are starting to like her. While at the party the light go out and she trip over a person but when the lights come back on she finds out that the person is dead. And that there a knife in the body of the person. But the two knifes are her's from the set she brought with her. She is determined to find the person that did this so she can clear her name.
This was a fun mystery story to read. It has action, suspense, adventure and secrets within. I had fun trying to solve the mystery. It had a few funny parts that had me laughing or giggling to.

Milly Pepper was hired to cater a Halloween party for Nora Jensen the leader of the highly vicious and exclusive Bakers group in town. Due to the lateness of the party, the help are given rooms for the night. The power goes out causing Milly to search for the breaker box, but what she finds is Nora stabbed in the back on the kitchen floor. The knife used was one of Milly's engraved set which makes her the prime suspect. Business is slow at her father's cafe, now hers, so she decides to investigate the murder before Detective Freedman nabs her for the easy arrest.

When the host and head of the Bakers ends up dead at an even Milly is catering, she realizes how seriously the three different groups take their rules. Lifelong commitments, no fraternization between members of the groups, among others that makes you wonder why they have members at all. When one of her knives is the murder weapon and another missing, Milly is in a hurry to determine who is behind this before she loses her late dad's cafe and her freedom as she is ostracized.

I've read several books written by Rosie A. Point; she is becoming one of my favorite authors. I can’t wait to read more of her books.
This is the second book in the Milly Pepper Mystery Series; it is a stand-alone book. The story is about Milly; she’s catering a Halloween party when the lights go out and she stumbles on a dead body. It’s the host of the party, and she’s been stabbed by one of Milly knives.

Milly is trying to get her fathers cafe going strong and ends up with a catering gig for a rich peoples party. The party goes well, but suddenly the lights go out and she stumbles across a dead body of the hostess. She is one of the suspects as one of her catering knives is the murder weapon. The characters are well developed, with great backstories. The storyline has plenty of fun situations, quirky people, intriguing clues, a side mystery and much more. Great ending that I did not see coming.

I really like how easy it is to read, it's definitely a mystery that wouldn't make me too scared and paranoid to sleep at night. I still enjoyed reading this though so 3 stars, and I will probably read the next book and other series by the author :)
A catering job for a party turns into a nightmare when Milly discovers the hostess dead in the kitchen. The rumor circulating in town is that Milly is the killer. If she waits for the towns incompetent law enforcement to solve the case her cafe could be out of business. She'll have to find the killer herself.
Just thinking about Milly discussing the case with her pet bunny, Waffle, makes me chuckle. This is a fun mystery. I received a free copy but my review is honest and voluntary.

Another great cozy mystery from Rosie! You're pulled in to the story line with mystery, suspense, intrigue and murder. The characters interact and work well together. Their relationships bring a bit of humor to the story line and keep you entertained as you try to solve the mystery of who dun it before you reach the end.

Another light, quick read that was mildly entertaining. Milly is asked to help out at a "invitation only" Halloween party which makes her feel pretty special. She thinks that maybe she's finally getting to be accepted in her new community. But things get pretty creepy when the lights go out and someone ends up dead stabbed with her own knives. Now she has to prove her innocence or her new business.
Another wonderful story from the author. We are pulled into the lives of the characters as they try to solve the murder that has been thrown into their lives. The story keeps us turning the pages as we try to solve the crime before the characters do.

Milly has to solve another mystery involving a murder. Three factions of groups in this town. The Bakers, Boaters and Butchers. They don't mingle with each other. And Milly has to deal with a family mystery. I would recommend this book.

I adore these characters, they are so fun and relatable. Milly is still working hard to adapt to life in Star Lake and running the cafe she inherited from her father, when once again she stumbles across a dead body. Lots of twists and turns.

I’m really enjoying this new series from one of my favorite authors. It’s an easy read. Love the setting of the small lake town in middle America. The main character is interesting with her background in police work. Nice to see how she is trying to make her dad’s diner a success. Her grandmother and best friend are good “sidekicks”. I didn’t guess the bad guy in this one!
This was an adorable cozy. It was alot of fun to read. The characters are complex. I thought the plot was very unique. I was quite intrigued with this fast paced suspenceful read. I love the mystery and the action. It has everything. Last but not least...food to die for.

I really was entertained by this. Milly and her friends were great. I could not stand Nora and I could understand why someone would want to commit murder. The town is rather crazy and cliquey. I loved Rosie's scene descriptions and her dialogue. She really places her readers in her scenes. I received this as an arc from Booksprout and I freely left this review.
I loved the pet by NY and TBE love between Gran and Granddaughter. The story has good bones, but sometimes it felt hard to follow. It all pulls together. If it weren't interesting I guess I wouldn't have finished it. Hope you ehjoy
These are really fun, short quick reads! There are a lot of grammar mistakes, so if that is something that really bothers you I wouldn't recommend these books, but it's not something that bugs me too much.
This book is so good I really enjoyed reading it!! Lots of good imagination at work creating the back stories and subplots and I like the characters!!!
Cute new series. This is book two & I am loving it. Milly Pepper is an awesome character. I look forward to reading more about her in the upcoming books.
