Loch O’Malley takes his job as the youngest brother seriously. The screwup. The wild one. He’s reliably unreliable. So when his brother Brian asks for a serious favor, Loch knows it must be something big.

Nora Munson has the weight of the world on her shoulders. She’s the strong one. Picking up all the burdens her family has left behind, and shouldering them no matter what comes her way. When her sister Carmen abandoned them all years ago, Nora assumed it was a selfish streak that sent her running.

When Loch tracks down Nora, he finds she is a woman cracking under the pressure of a failing family farm. Left to fend for herself, Loch decides to do what he can to help Nora out. He was sent to find her, spy on her, and report back. Falling for her was not part of the plan. His loyalty to his family is tested when his attraction to Nora grows. He’ll have to decide if keeping up the act is worth the risk of breaking her heart. Family loyalty goes head to head with new love, as Nora and Loch collide.

Writing is a way to make a lot of different people do exactly what you want them to do. When I can’t get my toddler to listen to me, I turn to my characters. They always cooperate!

I currently live in Charlotte, North Carolina with my husband and seven year old son. I have perfected the ability to write in a noisy house and create story lines while folding laundry.

Ten Things to know about me:

1. I have a fear of whales. All whales. The noise they make. The sight of them (even on tv). I don't think this phobia has a name and I've never met anyone else who feels this way. I blame it on the 3D movie when I was 7 at the Boston Museum of Science. (Thanks Dad.)

2. When I get hungry it brings out the worst in me. My friends and family know to keep me well fed. They pack snacks now.

3. I can cook but not bake. Not even a little. Not even a box of brownies.

4. If there is a song I like it is normal to hear me listening to it a hundred times (give or take) in a row.

5. I do not, under any circumstances, read directions. Who has time for that? Making mac & cheese by the seat of my pants for the last 25 years.

6. Like a black-out drunk, I have lost hours of my life mysteriously to Pinterest. If you haven't tried it yet... don't. Save your self.

7. Before I became a mother, lots of things grossed me out. Now nothing does.

8. My favorite food is food... my least favorite food is no food. I love food. (apply the same rule to wine)

9. I do not have a green thumb. I have the kind of thumb that kills any type of plant ever given to me. Whatever kind of thumb that is... I have it.

10. Writing has changed my life. Not just the career it's created but the way I feel when I write. If you have something you love to do I hope you get the opportunity to do it.

Nora and Loch

Carmen's sister Nora and Brian's brother Loch meet when Brian sends Loch to Canada to check out Carmen's family and try to find out if they want to reconcile and if reconciliation is a good idea for Carmen. What Loch finds is the father has split, the mother is bitter and does nothing to help, and Nora is so overloaded she's having to sell the horses and then the farm to ensure her mother has someplace to go.

A very good story that tells the reader just how easy it is for patents to scapegoat one of their children and blame them for errors made by the parents. It also tells how family issues can fall on one person and how that person has to give up everything to please a parent who will never be happy.

Nora is one of my favorite characters in this 12 book series. She is a doer who only gives up when there is no other option.

The twists and turn will keep the reader interested.

I was so happy to see another book in this series. Loch O’Malley is the youngest of his brothers and has a reputation of being a screwup. His brother asks him to secretly check out Carmen’s family whom she hasn’t seen in many years. When Loch arrives at the farm, he meets here sister Nora and finds her and the farm in desperate straits. He has sympathy for her situation and vows to help her save her farm in addition to his main objective. He also finds out that Nora was told that Carmen abandoned the family out of selfishness. Will he be able to accomplish both of his goals and keep his anonymity?

Such a good story

I so liked this story. I love Lock. He really went the extra mile to make the day about her. Great job on describing the painting. I could really picture it. I love how the kids and professor made her feel welcome. I did find it funny that Lock would be afraid of horses. It wasn't how I pictured him at all. Am glad Lock found Nora to help him care about life. Such a good story and series.

Nora and Loch learn so much about each other and about themselves that the future is brighter.

Loch goes to Canada on a mission to find out about Camron's sisters. Meeting Nora is the best gift of his life. The work he does to ease he life is creative and kind making an incredible impression. Fantastic character development and storyline.

It just ended!

I loved the book until the end. It just stopped. I felt deprived. No resolutions to the family drama. No family reuniting. Just ended. I expected so much more than this.

And another one. I always get sucked in and lose sleep (naps or going to bed at a decent hour) when Danielle drops a book. A heartwarming story about secrets, forgiveness, and choosing self. I can't wait for the next one to drop.

What a wonderful story.

This was such a wonderful story. I love how Loch managed to mess things up then get everything straight with everyone at the same time. Can't wait for the next story. And I am gonna make a guess that it will be Ronnie and Carter.

Excellent story that you don't want to put down. It brings to mind the things some families go through and how they handle them. Great book to read that will bring back family issues and how your family worked them out.
