Trixie has never really been inspired by art at her school (other than wanting to create own her comic) she’s never found a style that caught her attention, until now. The Art Avenger is on a mission to right some serious wrongs and she’s going to do with some flair!

This is a superb story that will not only make the target audience giggle but it will also educate them about the arts in a unique way. Laying creative breadcrumbs to lure them into learning more about some of the world’s greatest artists with Trixie’s exploits. The quirky illustrations are very appealing and a bundle of fun too.

I loved the idea of including the fact file pages on the artists that were the spark of her ideas. It was a shame that I was unable to read the text clearly on these pages as they were blurry, but this technical matter with the file didn’t detract from my enjoyment of Trixie’s bold schemes.

Homes across the land are going to be ringing with laughter at the delights of the Art Avenger on the horizon!

I received an early copy from the publishers via NetGalley in exchange for a review.

This is a review from my 9-year old son:

This book is a number higher than I can count out of ten but five is the maximum I can put. It’s funny and very interesting to look at the Fact Files. Can you get rid of the rat on the cover of the first book as it has a sign saying “don’t buy this book”, and I think everyone should read it. It has brought me much joy reading it. Olaf, if you’re reading this, please put me in one of your art club videos - my name is Sammy!

Review from me: I really enjoyed reading this with my son, it’s funny and irreverent, and started lots of discussions about not just art, but all sorts of things. I’d highly recommend the Olaf Falafel Art Club on YouTube as well. Fans of Tom Gates books will love it.

Επιθυμείτε τα παιδιά σας να μυηθούν στην ομορφιά της τέχνης;
Θέλετε να γνωρίσουν το έργο εξαιρετικών καλλιτεχνών που άφησαν καί εξακολουθούν να αφήνουν το αποτύπωμά τους στην τέχνη;
Θέλετε να εμπνευστούν καί τα ίδια μέσα από τα έργα τέχνης;
Θέλετε να τους μεταδώσετε την αγάπη σας για την τέχνη;
Όλα αυτά μαζί;

I received this book as part of bookfairy campaign. I read the book as there is someone I want to get this book for. It is such a good read, it is funny, it is quirky, arty, a little gross sometimes, just perfect for Middle Graders. I don’t think I have ever read a book in this format. My 3 year old was interested in the cover, thank Goodness she didn’t asked me to read it aloud as I think that might be a book too long for me to read.

Looking forward to the next instalment.

Thoroughly enjoyed this! Smiled and chuckled my way through most of it! You can’t beat a good story of a hero (if you wanna call her that), her deeds (which are wonderfully funny and bizarre) and her life! I loved the fact filed about the artists too! I reckon this will be a massive hit in my classroom and I’m now gonna seek out the second one!

The audiobook version had me laughing out loud. What an unexpected gem! Trixie is a student who decides to tackle the injustices in her school by creating covert art pieces. The Art Avenger (her code name) is inspired by famous artists who are profiled in short fact asides. If you're looking for a fun funny read, pick it up.

Loved reading this book. Contained lots of info on true artists. Was a fun twist of Diary of a wimpy kid style of writing without the cruel treatment of friends. Storyline used art as a way to project a point of view, usually for the better.
