The wolf I share my body with was born able to separate herself from me and wander around in a spirit form, but now that we managed to get ourselves permanently separated, she's trapped as spirit and I'm dying.
I've been searching for some kind of magical fix-all that could bring us back together, but so far, the only answer I've found is the one thing I can never accept:
Taking a mate.
My friends are interviewing guys, trying to find the best candidate for something I swore I'd never do.
The only man I somewhat trust has started leaving notes everywhere with reasons as to why he's the best candidate.
And my wolf is just as on board with hiring a mate as the rest of them.
I want to survive more than almost anything, but that almost includes my only option.
I've got three months to decide whether or not to take a mate… or my body will become spirit, like my wolf's.
*This new-adult novel is a full-length, slow-burn standalone romance featuring a sexy werewolf cowboy, far too many mate-interviews, a heap of corny love notes, and a woman who keeps her distance from *most* men.

*I was provided an ARC for an honest review* The next chapter of the Rejected Mate Refuge unfolds with this sweet tale of Lex and Parker. It's a non-stop, "keep drinking coffee til you finish" story. Lex wasn't a character I was particularly thrilled with in the last book, however the growth she had in this story certainly made up for that. We get to see her grow from a stubborn head strong MC to one that not only learns to adapt but to acknowledge her own emotions. Parker is the teddy bear of the pack, gonna call it now. He is honestly so lovable, and it's impossible not to swoon whenever he's on the page. My only critique for this book is one of the lines in the beginning of the story when Lex tells Taylor she may not have sexual urges and Taylor is telling her: "Anyone who doesn't like sex just hasn't figured out what works for them." As someone who has aro/ace friends, this line is somewhat diminishing. In the context of the story it makes sense, and Taylor obviously cares for Lex, but it was just somewhat hard to read. Otherwise I absolutely enjoyed this story! It was non-stop and completely engrossing. Can't wait for the next one Lola!
Totally enjoyed this book with Lexi and Parker. They are my next favorite couple. They complement each other so well. I enjoyed their story. The double epilogue was the best. I like how Lola tied the ending so well. I enjoy reading how Lexi over came her trama and how Parker was there for her. Was a great read.
4.5 stars. Lex (Alexandra), the female lead, has had her wolf separate from her and travel with her in spirit form. When her future seeing grandmother tells her she has three months to live unless she mates, she makes a list of activities to complete and sets out. She takes her best friend, Parker, the male lead, for company, fully expecting to die by the end of it because she can’t stand to be touched after past sexual abuse. But Parker gently and patiently persists in suggesting he’s a real alternative and Lex decides she does want to live AND she loves him enough to try with him.
And then his family implodes and his ex-fated-mate who abused him demands him back…
This story is female lead POV only - that’s honestly the main reason I didn’t give it 5 stars; I really prefer dual POV. The story is well written and deeply moving. There are HEAPS of trigger topics handled by both main and secondary characters but I feel it is sensitively done and really shows how messy life is but how good it can still be.

This was a nice sweet story about learning to trust and love again after trauma. Everyone needs a sweet southern cowboy willing to do just about anything to save you and show you that not every man out there will hurt you ♡
After spending years in her wolf form after the trauma she suffered Lexi didn't trust men easily if at all, she hated to be touched but after she killed her ex-fated mate it put a time limit on her life. Lexi had always been special, she and her wolf spirit had the gift to seperate but after she had killed her ex-fated they had been unable to join again. The only way for them to rejoin and save Lexi was for her to take a mate but how could she even think about doing so when she couldn't even let a man touch her the thought alone had her spiraling back to her hellish nightmare. She decided that if she only had months to live she'd live them to the fullest and go out being as happy as she could because in her mind she wouldn't take a mate just to live. She thought she'd go alone on her adventure but when Parker the only man able to get within a foot of her without her cringing offered to go along she reluctantly agreed. Parker had always been kind and patient with Lexi but having a time limit on her life freaked him out, he thought they had all the time in the world to gain her trust but now he didn't and pushing her wasn't an option, he'd buy his time and hope she'd eventually see that there was another option besides death. Along their road trips Lexi's walls began to fall and she slowly let Parker in to her inner sanctum but just as they began crossing lines, Parkers family needed him and he had to bail on their road trip but instead of continuing alone Lexi went with him. Lexi found out whilst with Parkers family that though their trauma was different Parker hadn't had a great fated mate either before she rejected him. They bonded further and Lexi felt comfortable enough to realize maybe she didn't want to die but did she trust Parker enough to tie herself to him forever. When faced with tragedy everything becomes crystal clear fer her because now she had a reason to live ♡
I love getting all of these Rejected Mate stories!! I've been so curious about Lex and Parker and how their story would go. It was so sweet. I loved seeing Parker help Lex through her trauma and sticking with her. Lex is stubborn and won't do anything she doesn't want to. I liked that they both fought for what they wanted and stuck with it. I really love the way Lola handles PTSD and all that comes with it in her books. A mate isn't the magical cure, and I really appreciate it. Parker was patient and gentle with Lex, but also pushed her when she needed it. And I like how Lex learned to feel and acknowledge her emotions. It was great to see them navigate things together. And I liked learning more about Parker's past as well.
This is one of my favorites in this world, and I absolutely loved it. It's part of the Rejected Mates world, but could easily be read as a standalone too. I definitely recommend it!!!
For those of us following the rejected mates series, I think we have been increasingly curious about Lex’s backstory, especially with getting more context from Taylor’s story (Mate Tracker). While I didn’t connect as much with Lex as I have with other Lola Glass characters, I really loved Parker. I thought their romance was sweet and I really liked the additional mystical elements in this book (I’d love to see more wolves with other powers like Lex’s grandmas foresight). I would also say this book focuses a bit more on the romance than on other aspects which I also really enjoyed! Overall, would recommend to anyone who is a fan of Lola Glass, or werewolf romances or just romances in general. Also, you don’t need to read the others in the series it can be read as a stand-alone!
In case no one else has said it, this is not a stand alone book. Think of it as a spin off of a side character from a previous series.
This book surprised the hell out of me. I like Lola Glass, I like her books. She can be a bit heavy handed with the darkness level of her books sometimes. It’s like Game of Thrones level dark, people. Sometimes you just want to throw the book and say “really, Lola? Leave the poor girl alone!” So with the FMC tragic backstory I was expecting same. And the adorably handsome MMC does have a surprisingly darker backstory than we realized from previous books. But it’s like she intended to write some darker story and surprisingly wrote a lighter, sweet story that handled dark themes and leavened them with brightness.
I would like to start by thanking Lola for writing this book and creating Lexi. This book and Lexi 💕 are both special 😇 to me. I admire how Lola creates something that is completely out of the box and interesting at the same time for us (reader's) and thanks again for Lexi💖
Now, coming back 😉 to the story, I loved how the plot comprised💗 both of the characters equally, it wasn't all about Lexi and her predicaments but we also got to peek into Parker's life too. It was wonderful😍 to see them evolve around each other... I loved the slow romance that took place in their friendship gradually and steadily, it was a sweet, light and lovely story and perfect for the pair too🤗😇. I had a delight reading 🤓 Lexi's and Parker's sweet romantic story🤭💕.
I loved this whole series but really really loved this story with Lex and Parker. I loved that she overcame her past with her best friend and also the additional insight to Parker’s background and how it wasn’t so cut and dry with him being a man who’re. I wished his family came around to Lex more but oh well- I’m a couple of these outcast stories, the families have been jackasses! It felt a little unresolved with Parker and his family since that was one of the reasons he went rabid- but oh well. Everyone got their HEA and that’s fine by me! I love that every extended story of this series still includes the main characters- Knox, Cara and Shadow!
Spirit Wolf is another page-turner set in Lola Glass’ Rejected Mates Refuge world. Although it’s a standalone, I would recommend reading the series, not only because it’s great but also because there are scenes with the female main character (Lex) that give even more insight into who she is and where she came from. I have to say that this is the first time I’ve read a book where the main character has vitiligo, but Lola Glass made it just another part of the character, which was both refreshing and interesting. Lex is a fascinating leading lady and her love interest (Parker) was a really perfect match for her. A great read that I highly recommend!
Just finished editing this book, and... it didn't go as I expected.
I thought Lex's story would be dark.
But...it wasn't.
I think it's one of the lightest that I've written in a long time.
I tried to make it darker, but the characters didn't want it that way. And I always try to listen to my characters, even when they're ignoring me.
There's something simple and calm about this one, and I loved that. I hope you feel it too when you're reading, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
Lex and Parker are quite the pair. Lex has had a traumatic adventure so far and her wolf and her haven't always been on the same page. A mate is not in the cards for Lex, but her friends and wolf disagree with her. Then you have Parker who is a sweetheart and knows what he wants. This is set in the Rejected Mates world but it can also be a read as a stand alone. We do see the characters from previous books but they aren't required reading. It is also fun to see into the lives and struggles of each side character in the Refuge. Although I'm a sucker for the original pair😍.
Another chapter from the people from the Outcast pack this time starting Parker and Lexi. Lexi's life is counting down and thus begins a wild trip with Parker that made me laugh. It was cute and a bit steamy and entertaining as we get to learn more about their pasts and what their future might hold. Of course there is a bit of drama and pain but that is expected. Entertaining and fun to read as I had to see what was going to happen next and if Lexi would survive to the end and choose Parker.
Lexi's wolf had the ability to separate from her and wander in spirit form. Because they are now permanently separated, her wolf is trapped in spirit form and Lexi is dying. She has 3 months to take a mate and save herself from becoming a spirit as well.
Parker is trying to convince Lexi that he wants to be her mate. She is stubborn about not wanting to ever accept a mate, but she really doesn’t have a choice. If she wishes to survive, she needs Parker in her life. Even her wolf agrees she should take a mate. Will she give in and accept Parker?
Lex is now at a cross roads she must either die or do the one thing she swore she would never do, take a mate. Her past has kept her from ever trusting any man she came across, but in an effort to no longer be controlled by her past, she decided to overcome her fear of men. She decided to try with Parker since she felt semi-safe with him. Lex and Parker both overcome problems from their past, Lex's being physical and Parker's being emotional, and I enjoyed how they were there for one another when one felt like giving up. They both gotna well deserved HEA
I devoured this book in one sitting. I couldn’t put it down. This was an amazing example of the friends to lovers trope and how friendship and true trust are so important to help in the healing of trauma. There are discussions of physical and emotional abuse and sexual assault in this book, but it is handled so well. It is not gratuitous, but necessary for the characters to understand one another and how they must interact with each other as they move forward. I loved how the relationship between Lex and Parker unfolded.
This is the sort of book that you think is going to be " heavy " reading with all the trauma and problems the main characters have but you would be very wrong it is fun, suprising and a story that really needed to be told. It is part of a series but is really easy to read as a stand alone shifter romance . Watching the characters react to bed situations throughout the story was very emotional and very compelling ...late nights ahead for those who love this type of story
After all the bad that Lex experienced so far in her life’s she has only a few months to live because of what happened to her spirit wolf. To live she had to mate but he died because of what him and his friends did to her after he rejected her. Parker found her but she had a lot to sort out. Parker said that he would be her mate they went on a road trip and ended at his grandmother’s house and things got worse again but Parker and her fell in love and mated! Great book!
This is probably my favorite of the stand alones in this series so far. I’m not gonna lie, I was not a fan of Lex’s in Mate Finder. I get like she was super selfish and unwilling to even attempt to more forward. I want sure what to expect from her in Spirit wolf but her growth was amazing and she is a fantastic character. Love her with Parker. Lots of humor mixed in too. Read it! Lola never disappoints. :)
This is the 6th book in the Rejected Mate Refuge series. Each book in this is series can be read as a standalone, but I highly suggest reading them all because they are all unique and wonderful in their own ways. This book focuses on Lex & Parker and is my favorite one so far! I cannot wait to read the next book!
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I really enjoyed this book. It dealt with some heavy issues without "being heavy" if that makes sense. My only minor criticism would be that the last chapter seemed truncated. I didn't want to use the word "rushed" as that was the point of the story where there needed to be a sense of urgency, however, I just felt the author could've dragged out that chapter a bit more.
I loved Lexi and Parker’s story! I was so happy to read how strong and loyal Parker is to Lexi and the patience he has. Lola has a great imagination and she shows how to write such wonderful characters with a loving storyline. I love how there are recurring characters from all of the series. Thank you Lola Glass and I look forward to reading more of your stories!
Such an interesting concept of a shifter’s wolf being separated from their body in this way & the journey to heal both inside & out. Trigger warning for sensitive readers: Touched on lots of darker subjects like past trauma, recovery from rape, mental illness… but so much humanity, friendship, patience, gentleness & love shown through in their mate story. Well worth the read.
Lexy and her cowboy ( are there really cowboys in Tennessee?) make a tender love story. When Lexy’s future seeing grandmother tells her that since her spirit wolf has separated from her she only has three months to live. Without her wolf, she will die. Deciding to live her last three months, Lexy takes off on an adventure. Cowboy goes as her friend and companion. Along the way, love grows.
I know what I’m getting into with these books; they’re open door paranormal romantic fantasies and they’re pretty good at being exactly that. This one tried to feature a character with a lot of trauma around sex and it really missed the mark. Add in a character announcing that everyone likes sex in some way or another and overtly erasing the existence and experiences of asexual folks…just a bummer of a book
I was a little ticked at Lex after the last book and didn't know Parker much so I didn't know what to expect from this book. I ended up liking Lex and understanding Parker better. I also love how the rest of the gang made appearances. Can't wait to read Alaska's story she's one of my favorites and I loved Bash ever since the cinnamon rolls.
This is Lola Glass's sixth book in her Rejected Mate Refuge series. We've seen Lexi and Parker circling around each other in previous books in this series. Lexi's wolf is just a bit different than what we've seen before in this series. It was a great change and a great addition to the series. I have enjoyed this series and can't wait for more.
I love these individual stories of the Outcast Pack. Each character is well developed, has an engrossing storyline, and all of our fav characters from previous stories make a showing as well. This series is developing well, each story is a hit, and I like how the whole pack is growing into a cohesive family!
