The story centers around old friends and life in a small town. It appears to be a quiet life, with only a few tall tales of the fish that got away, until Purvis's car is stolen. As Purvis, his grandson and a good friend try to find his stolen car, the secrets of his life come to light. The book has memorable characters, a wonderful depiction of life in a small town, and the friendships that develop. In the end, Purvis solves not only the mystery of the stolen car, but confronts the mystery and secrets of his own life. I thoroughly enjoyed the book!

I have loved all of this author's stories, even the short stories he has posted on his website, but his books are my favorite. They all take place in a small town in the mountains of North Carolina and all feature friendships and the sense of community that is what make small towns so wonderful. I was sort of worried about this book, since most of the characters were old men but, once again, I was hooked by the end of the first chapter. I really liked the main character, Purvis Webb. The relationships that he has with best friend, C.J.; wife, Shelby; and grandson, Wyatt are so touching, yet realistic. And he has a faithful companion; his beautiful, old dog.
The book opens when Purvis notices his car has been stolen. The backstory of his life is revealed bit by bit as he, C.J., and Wyatt search for his car. However, finding the car is only the beginning of the adventure. This is a book pulls you in and you have to keep flipping pages to find out what happens next. I always look forward to the next book by this author and he never disappoints me.

This was a very unique read! It’s not one I would have picked up on my own, but my mom recommended and loved it, so I wanted to give it a try. First, I had to look up what a “liars’ table” is - which was helpful information to have going in.
This was a great story of small-town life and the secrets people keep. It was a character-drive story more than a plot-drive story, but there were enough details for the plot to keep the story moving nicely. The story moves quickly and you want to keep reading to find out what happens next.
At its heart, this a story of redemption and healing. There is tragedy and sadness in this story, but also hope and love. It really was both engaging and beautiful.
It’s a very quick read, and I could have read it in one sitting. I only wish the cover drew me in more!

Wall has created realistic, multi dimensional characters I will long remember, and a plot that has many twists and turns, both in the mystery of the car theft, and the story of Purvis himself. One of the characters has Alzheimer's and is written with both compassion, and realism. His portrayal touched me deeply. I just loved this book!

4.5 Stars. The is the second book I read by DK Wall in his "Small Towns/Big Lives" series and I am currently reading a third one. I don't know if there is any order to the books so I read Jaxson with an X first and loved it and gave it 5 stars. I moved right on to this book next and while it was an excellent book, it was hard to live up the exceptional Jaxson with an X. Still 4.5 stars.
What I love about this series is the strong character development. The pace is great and the storylines move along and are not too complex, but it is the characters and their relationships with each that really carry these books. Characters with many different life experiences and circumstances make them so compelling.
No spoilers so I'll just say I highly recommend this book and series!

A beautifully written tale of love, heartbreak, friendship, intrigue, and suspense all rolled together in a superb storyline that will grip you from the start and hold you til the end. The characters are wholesome, real and engaging. You laugh with them, cheer for them and love with them throughout the story and it’s one of those you never want to end. Liars’ Table is heartwarming - don’t miss out on it!! I promise you’ll love it!! Great job DK!!

new to me everyone should read.
There are three books in this Millerton saga. This author and these books were new to me. I thought I was getting something light, funny and an easy read. How wrong I was. All three of these are wonderful. It helps if they are read in order because of recurring characters but it’s not imperative. I loved these novels, the intrigue the harshness and yes, the rooting for certain people. This third was my favorite.

Such a good story!
This story really got to me. Purvis wasn't tall and handsome or some amazing ball player or such but he was the kind of man who would be there when you needed him and stay. Loved this story.

It was good. The way the author had the main character think and say things seemed typical. BUT he called himself an old man; same age as me.
