Really enjoyed the story and read in just a couple of days but the book really need some editing. Typos and improper use of pronouns made some parts difficult. Had to read some sentences several times to figure out just what it was saying.
Loved Patty, the main character. Liked her strength and will to make a go. The editing seems to be a problem with a lot of books nowadays. Other than that a good read.
Author does an outanding job of tracking the evolution of a city girl to that of a knowledgeable ranch owner. Through willpower this young woman developed rancher wisdom and skills. Not without confronting powerful men determined to use any means necessary to become more powerful AND many doubters regarding her ability to master the challenges that initially seemed unachievable. Powerful story about the rewards for determination and doing what is right.
i’ve read every western book from all the good authors from the 1800s up to now and I believe this person is one of the best. It’s not I’ll shoot them up and crazy stuff but it’s really fun to read.
Facebook was an easy read and full of interesting things that I hadn’t thought about. Very descriptive and seemed to be true to the time. Anyways, I hope so because I’d like to read more by this author. I haven’t looked yet, but I hope they have more
Jessie Nobles story is well written with excellent character development. I found myself engaged throughout the book and looked forward to picking it up and continuing. As I neared the end I thought there’s too much going on how can it conclude so quickly and sadly I was right. The author chose to cut short the story leaving actions unanswered all for the sake of the ubiquitous sequels. This trend is unfortunate which is why I usually avoid series books.
Not bad at all. A few spelling errors and pacing is slightly choppy, but a great story of a widow who is thrown headfirst into managing a ranch with few allies and not a few enemies. She has to win the respect of her cowboys and neighbors, all the while holding together the ranch her late husband loved. It's A fun ride and insightful of life in the West following the Civil War.
Overall the main character and story were good. I really got excited near the end to read how the villains get their just desserts. Then … nothing. The trend of book 1 in a series not having a conclusion is infuriating. Just because it’s book 1 in a series doesn’t mean you can’t have something meaningful happen at the end of it! Also, editing mistakes take you out of the story at parts. And the odd choice of having no chapters. Why are there no chapters?

Great book. I loved it. The hardship of ranch life even for the owners. A story of one woman's struggles when women had no rights and were looked down on by men. A story of the lengths men would go to to have it all. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and would recommend it. Thank you Jessie Noble for a great book.
A hard working ranch, and an even harder working women. Patty made the best of a bad thing, into something great. The story was good and showed just how hard life was back then.. I started reading and couldn't put the book down. It was so full at life at that time. Thank you for an enjoyable read. I will get your other books.
This is an inspirational saga for strong women! The characters are so human, but strong, just as you would expect from early western ranchers. Determination and endurance prevail, but good judgment with common sense carries the day. This is a fun book to read with local politics coloring the outcome. This promises to be a wonderful series!
A Texas ranch struggles after her husband dies, and the wife has to stand up to prove she can run a cattle ranch, much to the consternation of both the men and women of the local community.
This is a coming of age story for a woman who has to compete in the man's world of Texas ranchers upon the death of her husband. Well developed story and I found the ending to be a surprise but upon a little contemplation, a good surprise.
Very good! Not at all what I was expecting and a little disturbing to see how women were treated. Did not like that there was not chapters, but it didn't take away from the story.
Didn't think a woman could write a Western that well and so precisely! But you did it and did it so succinctly and successfully. My daughters can't wait their turn, though neither of them favor a Kindle. Keep up the great work!!
Texas ranching before there was enough law to keep peace on the range. I wonderfully written novel describing the beauty and harsh life of ranching. Especially when you're a widow!
