Create a life that truly makes you happy with this essential guide to personal growth. You may have outgrown a relationship. Your job may no longer excite you. Maybe you look in the mirror and see someone you don't want to be anymore. You might be so fed up that you're ready to throw in the towel at work or in a friendship or relationship. Behind the scenes, thousands of smart, capable, amazing people like you feel the exact same way. Rachel Service was once one of these people. After a successful career plagued with anxiety, depression and eventually burn out, she knew there had to be more to life - so she booked a ticket to New York City to see Beyonce. It wasn't until she found herself crying through the concert that she she was the problem. What she didn't yet know, was that she could also be the answer. In There Has To Be More , Rachel shares the methods and tools she created to genuinely grow and build a life that reflects what makes her happy. Since then, she has turned $300 in her bank account into a million-dollar business, became a CEO, got married and did a TEDx talk in a hot pink suit. There Has To Be More is a practical guide that walks the reader through the five steps towards personal growth. Rachel holds your hand along the way, encouraging you to pause and self-assess, then move on with greater insights and more courage. If you're ready to take back control, grow your confidence and assert your boundaries, this book will give you the tools to make positive change and discover your own definition of success in life and work.
The reality check of this book some may find confronting as it does force you to think about what society expects of us from what we truly want. I strongly feel if you do the work suggested in the book you'll grow as an individual. There were lots of common themes I had heard before in other books of this type. However, this book offers practical step by step reflection to challenge yourself to go for what you really want. I highly recommend for anyone who feels like they have outgrown their current life.
The book could have been shorter without losing its substance, but there's some good stuff in here. I'm not sure about the gulps, grrs, grumbles, rawrs, and oofs that punctuate so many paragraphs.
Loved the concepts and the practical steps provided. I loved the statement “when you have a problem you absolutely have the power to find a solution”. I listened as an audio book and would recommend the hard copy so you can take your time on the reflections and work through the growth cycle process during the read.
There Has To Be More: The Essential Guide to Personal Growth is Rachel’s first book of what I hope will be a very long list. ‘Why is that?’ you ask? Because this is the book you didn’t know you needed, but it hits the nail directly on the head. So why wouldn’t you want more insightful guiding works from this author to support you through every stage of life.
A book of the times
For some reason, this book fell into my lap at just the right time. And not for only me, but I expect a legion of people coming to terms with not only what’s next, or how do I get there, but in fact exclaiming there has to be more!
You’re not alone
You don’t have to be facing an existential crisis to want a change, to move at a different pace or want more overall. Rachel’s book covers all aspects of your desire for more, from evaluating the current circumstances of your life, to seeing you through to the other side.
The guides and exercises within the book support you through your self-assessment of identifying what you want and taking the steps to make it through to the other side. These invaluable exercises enable you to hold yourself to account and clearly set out a plan for what you want, and how to get there.
It’s not cliché
You might feel this is another book like the others on the shelf so why pick up this particular one? Written in such a fashion, you feel like Rachel’s friend who’s relating, supporting, playing devil’s advocate and lifting you up through what would feel too hard to tackle on your own or without this book.
If you’re unsure what’s next, how to get there or you’re expecting someone to drop opportunities on a platter in front of you, stop, buy this book and gain the clarity you need to build yourself into the person who can achieve it all.
A book not for the moment, but a reference guide for years to come.
