Rate this book
In the final installment, Andreka has to deal with making what she believed to be a huge mistake, leaving her to lose the love of her life. Not having Krucial was the last thing she needed amongst everything else she was already dealing with. But how will the troubled beauty deal this time, without the protection she's used to and so many people gunning for her and even the people she loves? Not to mention the men who now see her as free game. The other couples return as well, with one realizing that no matter how hard they try to stray from one another, it's nearly impossible. And the other, let's just say they've gone from lovers to downright enemies, while still vying for the bond they once shared. Enjoy this final ride with the Lunatics, their ladies, and the others who dwell in the hoods of Los Angeles. Every page is dripping with more secrets, more lies, more drama, and more revelations than before.

3.5 ⭐️

This last book felt like it was so long. There was SO MUCH going on literally all the way until the end. Krucial was a step ahead of everybody and for a man awaiting trial, he was in the streets doing ALOT. Iyanna was probably my fav character. Initially I was into the love triangle with Jory but the whole situation AND HIM worked my nerves. Lolly was the only character that had any growth (he had his moments) and I enjoyed him and Iyanna together.

Overall, this series was okay. It was definitely entertaining.

This book was wild! After everything unfolded in books one and two, I couldn’t fathom how things would be resolved by book three. I truly felt like I watched a movie play out on page. I listened to the audiobook and I think the narrators did the book justice.

Whew

I gave 5 stars cause this author surely doesn't leave a detail out on all 3 books. They long, but questions do get answered.

KAPRIIIIIIII

I'm gonna let y'all finish...but Kapri "Krucial tha Great"Hendricks is the greatest book character of all time.
When a book bae is written, I want him to be exactly like Krucial. He was really HIM. From beginning to end. There is so much I could say but it's too much to type. Just know, he never got on my nerves in 3 books. Not once. I love him DOWN.

Gangsta King Lear
I hate how people write off Urban Romance/Fiction as either ghetto or poor writing or lesser than. Shvonne Latrice has a way with spinning words into pure gold. These characters have so many layers of subtly.

The Cards:

🃏#TheRuler aka Krucial tha Great
“The prince of darkness is a gentleman!”

Krucial can be seen as just a stereotypical hood gansta, but what he really serves is an interesting view of how intelligence, strength, and ingenuity serve as the Ruler archetype. He's a natural leader, one who rules on brute strength and keen intellect. He may drop a funny line that's just plain mean:

"That bitch with the nut all on her edges fucked up my appetite, shedding skin all over the muthafuckin table while I was eating.” I pointed to Nova, talking loudly as fuck as she waited on another table." We may all chortle at his hella mean responses but he's also a strong, loyal friend, he commandeers those cloeset to him so they can get on their level. He wants them to be as Great as him, they are a reflection of him. In other words, everyone is just a squirrel trying to get a nut-- Krucial happens to be That 🥷🏾.

🃏#TheDamsel aka Andreka
She may seem like the ghetto baby momma stereotype, but really, she's the perfect example of the Damsel archetype. Relying since 18 on a no-good man, who she thought of as a king, instead the Emperor had no clothes. Leaving her in the weeds and close to losing it all. Andreka had to claw her way back up, but the cocky street King Krucial saw her and said on sight, "I don't care if you got a man. I will wife you. I will raise his son like it's mine so he could forget that nicca. And I don't play about mine." We get to watch her come into her own.

🃏#TheAllies
Lolly/Iyanna were about working through trust in relationships and getting out of your own way.

🃏#TheSidekick
Jory/Taissa was about liar, betrayal, and the art of forgiveness

🃏#TheLovers
Quay/Chanel is about recognizing second chances over the bourgeois or shallowness

🃏#ShakespeareanConflict aka King Learism
"I am a man/More sinn'd against than sinning."

He's an example of how broken our systems are and how corrupt and dirty everyday man must get to even have a token of survival. His major conflict is Shakespearean in depth, and it pulls on us. By book 3, we know the enemy, aka the opp, is really Krucial's half-brother. We watch as everything tears asunder in this conclusion but is built back up in ways only a romance can have us glowing.

Great ending

This book was definitely worth the wait (not like it was long in between books) but it was definitely an excellent wrap up of the series. Krucial was that dude!!! He was a freaking genius, he was always 5 steps ahead of everyone. I loved how he systematically took out all his enemies one by one. The way he loved on and took care of Andreka was a thing of beauty. She was definitely a perfect match for him, she had her own gangsta ways.
Lolly and Iyanna were a cute match. I’m glad they got it together. Jory and Taissa were both trash so I guess they deserved each other. Chanel was a bit judgmental and stuck up, I’m glad she let go of those ways and just lived her life.

Let me say that I loved the epilogue or should I say final chapter so much. There was so much drama in this long book which I lived for and I loved how everything fell into place at the end of the day. Everyone got what they deserved and it made me glad. This is one hell of a trilogy because the characters will actually test you. I loved Krucial and Andrekas love story and the relationship with their kids. Their character development is one for the books. I also like Iyanna.
A nice ride and I recommend

What a ride!

🚨Y’all……..😂😂……I don’t even know……😂😂….where to start with this book series review…. I couldn’t even pick out a book quote that was even slightly PG-13 to put in this picture. King and Queen of the Hood by Shvonne Latrice was HILARIOUS!! Krucial the male lead….I can’t even describe how hilarious, impulsive, crazy, and insane he was. I’ve never read a character quite like him EVER. 😂😂😂😂😂 Anyways…let me attempt this review.

King and Queen of the Hood centers around Andreka and Krucial the fearless and ruthless head of The Lunatics. These two meet in such a controversial manner, mainly because Andreka has a child with Moe, who was head of The Yobs, whose enemies with the Lunatics. She’s messing around with the opps and that definitely had many people side-eying her. Her budding relationship with Krucial doesn’t help with a nasty custody case she’s fighting. But when a man like Krucial is staking a claim on your heart, then what the hell is there is to fear? We are introduced to a host characters with their own side stories that were just as entertaining! This story will have you laughing, upset, stressed, happy….overall, your emotions will be all over the place. I definitely have a love-hate relationship with EVERYBODY, because they all got on my nerves! 😂😂😂😂Taissa and Jory/Iyanna and Lolly 🙄…. Anyways if you are a lover of hood love, toxicity, drama, and need a good laugh, then check out this series! I swear you won’t be disappointed! Amazing character development! Bomb storyline! Shvonne Latrice has quite an imagination

Absolutely loved it!

The perfect ending to a series, although I would love to read more about each individual couple. Kapri and Andreka’s relationship was not perfect, but that man loved her to no end and would do anything for her and her family. This book was well written, easy to follow, kept me interested from beginning to end and had me laughing hard as heck while reading it. Depp, OD and Moe’s mom got just what they deserved. I loved the fact that these rugged, tough men softened for their women and they all got their happily ever afters. I’d definitely recommend this book to anyone who is looking for something that has a little bit of romance, humor and action. Because Krucial provided all of that.

WOW 🤩!!! this what I call an epic read. Grab yours!!!

This serie had everything: romance, live, loyalty, friendship, family issues & values, action, human emotions (such as greed, lust, gluttony, jealousy, envy) and then it had a wonderful bonding experience between the characters.
Andreka was annoying at first then became my favorite. Kapri/Krucial was the bomb and bae. Lance was ok but annoying. Iyana was childish. Jory was stupid while Taissa was my least favorite one and a liar and finally Quay was cute but Chanel was nothing.
I loved how Errrvrybody got touched and what they deserved from OD, to Depp to Essence to Donnica to Mariana to Cesar to Olin to Nova to Maissa to Grant and to the McCulloughs with Sisi….
A wonderful and so worth it read!!!! Grab yours

Now That's What You Call A Perfect Ending!!

Andreka has been through the wringer. She went from dating a Yob to the Queen of the Lunatics. She had some allies on her side Mr. McCullough and Edwin that's was only because he was her lawyer. She went and got a job so Emily couldn't say anything when they were going back and for to court.
is a homie hopper even though they wasn't close. That excuse her sexing Maissa man. Even though she messing with Shoki. I don't believe she pregnant with Jory baby, she was using to have some place to stay and to prove to Taissa she could still have Jory. I don't know why because Jory ain't no d@#n prize no way. He's sucka and a simp all because he doesn't want to be lonely. He takes in the needing like Nova or Laurel. She and her boyfriend was try to take out Jory and Krucial. Andreka slapped the h@££ out of Mariana Krucia is man everybody needs in their lives. Grant was smacking the fire out of Chanel. He didn't want fight Quay. Brenda latched on to somebody else in the political world. If Iyanna wanted to be messy, she could have ran to the tabloids but she didn't. Her mama needs to stay out her business because she wasn't getting back with Jalen. Lonnie had her heart anyway. Lea didn't stand a chance. Lonnie had to one for the team if Krucial plan was to work. He was killing everybody that was doing him or Andreka wrong. He's been busy man setting up Emily putting her son's hand in her garden. Sisi, Essence, Nova all made a fool of themselves. Andreka right popped Sisi for choking Cooper. I love how Coop called Krucial Copy. Andreka and Krucial were made to be together.

OMG, y'all, let me tell you about this book series review, because it had me rolling on the floor laughing! Seriously, I couldn't even find a decent quote to share that wouldn't make your grandma blush. King and Queen of the Hood by Shvonne Latrice is pure comedy gold! The male lead, Krucial, is a whole hilarious mess. I mean, I've never seen a character like him before, and I can't even begin to describe the level of crazy he brings. 😂😂 But let's get into the juicy stuff.

The story revolves around Andreka and Krucial, who are the heads of rival gangs. Talk about a controversial meet-cute! Andreka's tangled up with the enemy, and that had everyone raising their eyebrows. Throw in a custody battle, and things get even messier. But hey, when a wild guy like Krucial comes along and claims your heart, who needs to worry about anything else? Along the way, we meet a bunch of other characters with their own crazy stories, and it's all just insanely entertaining. Get ready to feel all the emotions—laughter, frustration, stress, and happiness—you name it. I have a love-hate relationship with every single character because they all managed to get on my last nerve. 🙄 Taissa, Jory, Iyanna, Lolly, they all had me eye-rolling like nobody's business. But if you're into hood love, drama, and toxic relationships, and you need a good laugh, then give this series a shot. I promise you won't be disappointed! The characters are top-notch, and the storyline is bomb. Shvonne Latrice has one wild imagination, and it's pure gold.

Ugh! While book 3 wasn’t my favorite, mostly because I think the author tried to cover too much. In book 2- she introduced a new couple. Which was great, but it became too much to a juggle and some elements took a hit.

For example like the detail of Sky’s age. At one point she was close to 21 and another time, she was 19.

She did a decent job, wrapping up the story. But again- it was jumbled. We honestly could’ve done without Taissa/ Jory. They could’ve wrapped up in the first few chapters. Especially with the way she reunited them. It was no buildup really to it. She was so pressed, childish, and desperate. She did more begging him. He got played by 3 different women. I really lost interest with them.

Now Quay and Chanel. I wish, she would’ve focused more on them. That was an interesting story. I would’ve actually read a full length on them.

Dreka was making poor decisions, at times it did seem she didn’t think of Coop. But focused on Krucial. But I still was happy it all worked out. Although that “trial” was unrealistic af.

Now my favs… Lolly and Iyana. Iyana was hands down my favorite character. Adore her. She’s a real one.

I would’ve read a full length of them for sure. Really wish there was more of them in this book.

This was some fun chaos.

Excellent twist but the Incredible Hulk Kapri character way too unrealistic

I read books for self-care, and I will admit an escape. About 2 books a week. So, I know what type of bae or environment I want to read about. I was in my ghetto Alpha man mood.

The first book was great for that because before we found out Moe was a snake, he was great, and the INTRO of Kapri was great. But turning him into the Black Man Incredible Hulk? Slapping police officers, killing 30 men at one time. Was I ready Marvel in the Hood?? Handcuffed to a chair and still fighting.

And Andreka just turned into a big D over anything, including her child. She cried she wanted him but then was blowing people's brains out once in front of the child. And the child just walked over the body like, "Oh, it's just another day on the neighborhood." They didn't even live in the projects.

The only reason I read was because the 1st was so good but skipped most of this book to get to parts I cared about. The Jory ride was crazy and sometimes sickening to watch, but well done even though I questioned their decision. The maturity came up. Jolly was great to watch by the little bit of Quay , which made me give it a 3 ibstead of 2. I say Skip bit if you aren't like me and need to see it through even if it is not good.

Great finale to a great series‼️

Yesssss.. Shvonne you did your mfn thang with this finale baby.

Krucial still a damn fool and I love how he loves him some Andreka.

I’m so happy Lolly and Iyanna worked out. I wanted them together so bad. He was so pissed at her but he was also so in love with her and true love will prevail.

Jalen was trash!

Depp definitely got what he deserved and I laughed so hard when Andreka beat his ass 🤣

Sisi clearly lost her mind.

I’m still on the fence about Jory and Taissa. Even tho they were wrong. I kinda like them together 🤷🏽‍♀️

Chanel came back and got her thug back. She better than me cause I would’ve fought Grant ass back like Tina did Ike tf.

OD was a b*t@h plain and simple and I wanted to beat Skyler’s ass for not telling Andreka that he had came to her hospital room and for sneaking off to meet him.

Krucial didn’t spare a SOUL. Just going around serving hood justice to everybody who deserved it lol.

I hate to see them go 😞 this was an absolute amazing series‼️

Am I the only one who does not want to see the end of Krucial ~~~~ BAE! It was hard to read the last page 🥲.

Krucial took no prisoners as he handled business as usual. Andreka sometimes will go off the handle on some situations she did not understand, but Krucial will bring her right back in.

Lolly sort of grew on me in this installment. I’m still not a huge fan of Iyanna (still remembering how she played Lolly LMAO 🤣).

Jory lost his way and became another victim to these trifling women. I’m not a fan of Taissa, and which he was paired with a well deserved woman and not her!

Chanel handled business and I was applauding her end game.

All the villains got what they deserved, but Emily got off too easy IMHO!

I’m crossing my fingers that the author provide us with an update on Krucial in the near future.

NOTE: It will be interesting to know what will now happen to OD’s mom hmmmm 🤔.

I don’t know how to sum up this series while I enjoyed it but by the time I got to book 3 I was tired of everyone. How much under hand s**t can you do? I did like how everything ending though.

SIDENOTE (aka “Don’t come for my stars!”):
Just a quick heads-up my ratings are based on whether I’d reread the book or add it to my personal collection, not the quality of the story itself. So here’s how I roll:

5 🤩 = I’m obsessed with everything the storyline, the author, and the narrators! I read it yearly and own ALL the copies: physical, digital, and Audible. I can basically recite this book. It lives in my private library.
4 🌟 = Loved the story, the author, and the narrator (if it’s audio). I’d happily reread it when I need a solid comfort read.
3 ✨ = Enjoyed the story, the author, and definitely the narrators. A great addition to my yearly reading challenge likely to revisit if it’s part of a series I need to refresh.

Unnecessarily long

For starters this book was entirely too long. All
The extra characters and story line were not needed. I also was not fond of many of the characters.
Krucial was just too much. It would have been nice for him to have some chill and not always slapping someone or killing someone
Andreka was too much of a hot head and wanting to fight which was crazy since she was trying to get her son back.
Iyanna was dumb but I ended up liking her a lot
There was absolutely no point in bringing in the story long of Chanel and Quay
But the character I hated the most was Jory!!! He was so annoying and dumb. The softest gang banger I have ever read about. And the story line with him and Taissa was so stupid to me! Also the nova story line served no purpose! It was just too much thrown into one book to try to make it longer and it honestly just made it worse

This was a solid series all around. Completely unrealistic but still good. In the end, this nigga Crucial killed everybody. Damn. Everybody died. Crucial was Completely insane. It went beyond BDE to obsession. I guess that's a good person to have on your side but that nigga couldn't be anywhere near me. Talk about unstable. He'd slap any person at any time. On your job? Doesn't matter. At a rich function? He doesn't care. This mofo was nuts! He completely scared the shit out of me. Thank God this was not a true crime story bc he was ruthless. Crucial and Andreka's love was real. Completely nuts but real. In fact, all the couple stories were good. Every couple took you on a rollercoaster. Not sure how some of these couples made it. Some of that shit was unforgivable. Anyways, this was a good, entertaining series.

This was the perfect series wrap up. Krucial was insane but he loved him some Andreka and would stop at nothing to protect her. Andreka's jealousy was annoying because there was nothing else Krucial could have done to prove he was all in for her.

I loved how Iyanna and Lolly both grew in this book, even with Lolly being crazy at times. Jaylin...yeah he was a piece of work. Jory and Taissa worked every bit of my nerves. Many times I wanted to punch her upside the head because she stayed doing too much for Jory. Knox dogged a bullet.

Chanel and Quay were cute and I wanted to see more interaction between the two of them.

This was my first series by this author and I will defiantly be reading more of her work. The drama was on 1000% and I stayed laughing. I listened to the audiobook, and even the narrators were perfect.

Amazing Finale

Shvonne Latrice you definitely did your thing with this Finale! Krucial was still a straight fool in this book but definitely served his brand of Justice in the end. Andreka was my girl she was down for her man and showed it by handling business when it came to him and her family. I am so glad that Lilly and Iyanna got it together in the end and moved pass the drama. Jory scared me for a minute he kind lost his way but I was glad he got it together and able to move on with Taissa. OD and Depp definitely got their karma just like they deserved. This series was definitely a 5 star read I would recommend anyone to read it! Great Job and congratulations Shvonne Latrice this book definitely deserves a #1 spot!!

🤩 Definitely king and queen

Like all of this author’s work, this series ender was a banger !! This book had everything; love ❤️ suspense, murder, and drama🎭. I could not put it down. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. I have become so emotionally invested in Krucial and Andreka that I want more🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽. They were the epitome of hood royalty and ride or die. I love that Krucial was loyal. Lolly was a great guy 😘and I am glad he and Ayanna got it together. He baby daddy was wack!!!! I am still on the fence about Jory and Tiassa🤦🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️. Quay and Chanel had history that just surpassed all the bs, glad they got it together. I hope to see a holiday up date from this hang🙏🏽🙏🏽. 😍 ❤️!!

Worth more than 5⭐

Shvonne has once again showed us why she's one of the top dogs in the game! The stories she writes will con very consume you until the very end, then still leave you wanting more! This series was the bomb. I adored Krucial and Andreeka. The love they shared was beautiful. Andreeka was already crazy but when you added Krucial to the mix she was off the chain. It was like she became the female version of him. Shoot first and ask no questions lol. I was glad that Iyanna and Lolly worked out. Now Jory made me want to push him down a couple of times for how he was acting, and Tassia still rubbed me the wrong way. In the end everyone got what they wanted. I hate that it's over but I'll try to be patient and wait on the next one.

This book was fire

I love Krucial, he’s the truth. He does not hold his tongue for no one. He had me laughing so hard. Andreka “Yami” had his back as well. She definitely stepped and put an end to SiSi. I’m glad they got their happy ending.
Lolly finally came to realize that Iyanna is what he was missing. I knew that other baby was not Jalen’s. He was so wrong for how he treats her and his son.
Jory was about to put under if he kept playing with Krucial, he should have known Maissa was playing with him with that pregnancy stunt.
Even Quay and Chanel got it together.
Great series and I look forward to reading more.

An amazing way to end a great series!!

I stretched reading this as long as I could because I didn't want it to end!! Kruical is that man that you don't play around with. He has so many layers to him so it's not hard to see why Andreka loves him and why everyone respects him. Lolly and Joey irked my nerves sometimes with how they moved as did Taissa but they all redeemed themselves. This finale was explosive in many ways because certain things were exposed that you wouldn't expect. This series overall is amazing and I will miss laughing at how bad Kruical clowned folks because I was guaranteed a good laugh once he got going!!

Another great series down <3
Krucial was just.... a very intelligent, loving, and generous psychopath 😂 and I say that very lovingly lol. Andreka was just beautiful and strong in every sense of the word. I loved Lolly and Iyanna together so much. It took me a lil while, but I was rooting for the underdogs Jory and Taissa. It took Jory a while, a long one lol, but he finally came through. The way that the story(ies) progressed was so thorough in its'/their build that you couldn't really know what was coming next and in what order. I very much enjoyed this read. I really love your stories. I'm excited to continue to navigate my way through your catalogue.
