Your curse is your biggest strength.

...I just didn't know it yet.

Book 1

Jamie Hunt's the high school quarterback in his senior year. He's popular, smart, got the prettiest girl in the school chasing him. Everything couldn't be more perfect.

But a single mistake changes everything. His new "ability" puts in the middle of a war he doesn't want to be a part of, protecting a girl he barely knows and running from the one thing he loves—his family.

Book 2

When Jamie and Gabrielle ran away in the middle of the night, they thought they'd be leaving their troubles behind them. Now, they're starting to realize those troubles have just begun.

With no money, no plan, and no destination, they find themselves the world's most wanted fugitives—trying to stay one step ahead of an international intelligence organization tasked with hunting them down. An intelligence organization run by Jamie's own father.

An opportunity presents itself, but nothing is as it seems. Alliances are strained. Powers are tested. And no one knows who to trust.

How do you outrun your destiny?

Book 3

How do you hold back the tide?

When Jamie and Gabrielle fled halfway across the world just to escape his father, the last thing they wanted was a castle full of unexpected guests. But magic doesn't discriminate, and they aren't the only teenage fugitives living on the run.

Now, with a whole group of people depending on him, the stakes are higher than ever and Jamie struggles to control his powers. Tensions mount and relationships are tested as unexpected secrets are brought to light. No corner of the world is remote enough to hide, and with Obtero circling ever closer, it's only a matter of time before they are discovered.

Can a group of teenagers fend off the trained killers on their trail? Can they master their abilities in time? Most importantly, is it possible to keep such a terrible secret?

One wrong breath…and the game is up

Never give up. Never give in.

Wanita May grew up in the fruit belt of Ontario - St.Catharines. Crazy-happy childhood, she always has had a vivid imagination and loads of energy.

The youngest of six -- four older brothers, and a sister -- taught her at a young age to be competitive in all aspects of life.

At sixteen, she began competing in athletics (track and field) and before she turned seventeen, she was representing Canada in high jump. She continued to compete, breaking Canada's JR High Jump record (1.92m - 6' 3 1/2" for those metric-ly challenged). She attented University of Toronto, and Kansas State University - winning CIAU's and becoming All-American 6x - NCAA Indoors Runner Up + more.

But you're not interested in her athletic career - unless of course you're curious to know she stands 1.70m (5'7") and has jumped 20cm over her head on more than one occassion. She's represented Canada at the World Championships, World Jrs., won Francophone Games, and loved every minute of every competition. From the grueling workouts, the crazy weights she lifted on her back, the days she thought her lungs were going to spit out of her mouth for lack of oxygen, the travelling around the world and the opportunity to read - her favourite past time.

Life continued with her husband (a distance runner from Liverpool, UK, who she met at KSU) and then their first, then second and finally third child. Their house became full of more imagination and stories.

Wanita and her husband run an online business, dealing in antiques and collectables - particularly jewelry and porcelain (one of the business' website: www.wadeincanada.com ).

After her father passed away in 2009, from a six-year battle with cancer (which she still believes he won the fight against), she began to write again. A passion she'd loved for years, but realized life was too short to keep putting it off.

Her first book, Rae of Hope - from the Chronicles of Kerrigan - will be available October 2011 by kNight Romance Publishing.

She is currently represented by Dawn Dowdle of Blue Ridge Literary Agency. Wanita is a writer of Young Adult, Fantasy Fiction and where ever else her little muses take her.

A new addiction!

This book is like the X-MEN only they fight the government, not each other. I feel like Jamie's character is a typical jock. He's sexy, athletic & every girl wants him. He has a jaded view of his friends. Gabby is a character I love. She's fiery, sweet, and has morals. Unlike some of the other girls in the book. Both characters have big secrets their trying to keep from everyone. Jamie lives in denial of his abilities. It comes close to getting him in hot water. How he can deny what happens to him at age 5 & in a football gave, I'll never know. Gabby was popular and gorgeous until she wasn't. Like high school it only takes an incident at a party to ruin it all. Jamie's father lives the ultimate hypocrite life. He gets rid of genetically altered people yet, his son is one. Yeah, ironic! What happens when Jamie realizes he has abilities? Read to learn of he & Gabby's adventures. Trust me you'll love it!

I surprised myself by really loving these books. They're YA-ish urban fantasy, with a young male MC (Jamie) who abruptly develops illegal superpowers. It was a fun, inventive take on the reluctant hero trope, with a hero who doesn't WANT to be reluctant--he just lives in a world that forces him to dislike his own powers, because they're dangerous. Jamie's narrative voice galled me at times, since he definitely has some regressive attitudes about women, but overall he was a believable character, and it rarely distracted me from what is an excellent, fast-paced story of magic, adventure, and self-discovery. Normally I like my fantasy with more dragons and medievalish ballgowns, so it was cool to see some of the story tropes I love be invited into a world a little bit closer to home. Would recommend!

Non stop action

These three books are packed with action, intrigue and some romance. I could not stop reading and wanted more. I could not believe the ending in the 3rd book!!! The characters are amazing and their abilities are fascinating. W.J. May is an excellent author. She draws you into the story so you feel part of it. I can't wait to read the rest of them. Hooked on Mending Magic.

Loved the story!

Editing is horrible! Easily fixed spelling mistakes, each book worse.
Characters are great! Griffin is a blast. Jamie and all the other characters are well developed. I can't wait to see where this goes next.

3.5 stars. I enjoyed the story line but...

It seemed too young. The main characters were high school rather than college.
