Hamish is always great about making stories with plenty of diversity and fun and Croc and Roll is no different. The artwork and character design in this story are lovely, and I loved the comic cover chapter dividers and quick yet fulfilling backstories we got for each character. I look forward to re-reading this when the album is complete. Super thankful to have the bonus concept book and Polaroid from the campaign as well.

Hamish is a friend of mine and when I heard he was thinking about making a comic about one of his special interests (gators & crocs) I was on board already! Then the amazingly talented George Williams was the main artist, and then the fabulous Ayoola Solarin was helping with the writing? Wow, what a fantastic crew working on this comic!

And what a fantastic comic it is! I teared up during Kyle The K-Man’s backstory, as a transdude some of his identity stuff hit me, plus the pain he endured by transphobes who at one point he called friends was hard hitting too. That entire section where they blast the Terf to the moon was a chefs kiss moment.

I found myself falling in love with Dylan and Alan, shipped them so hard and wish there was more moments with them sorta getting closer before the big kiss - but me and Ace (Gary’s step kid) shared the sentiment “MY SHIP IS CANON!”

Gary’s reveal as being in an interspecies relationship was cute as well as funny in how their husband handled being a secret & how he explained what Gary meant to him. Gary themselves was a very groovy little gharial, loved their vibe.

Mayday’s reveal and backstory was wonderfully done, she is literally great and her growth as she realized her stage fright was holding her back in more than musical ways but her personal life was great!

All in all this was such a great little romp of a comic, funny, cute and the characters were great!

I helped kickstart this, and I'm really happy with the result! An upbeat, silly, heartfelt queer story about a crocodilian rock band. It's got a lot of comedy, some very emotional moments, and an accompanying soundtrack that goes pretty hard! If you like rock music, stories of found family, or scaly pals, I highly recommend it! A great way to start my year.

Very funny, beautifully illustrated and wonderfully gay reptile rock comic. Really recommended, it'll surely be a TV show soon! Also comes with some tracks you can listen as you read, which ups the experience even more. Hope there's more.

Backed this on Kickstarter and I’m so glad I did! Such an excellent read with wonderful art, tons of LGBT representation, and croc rock! What more could you ask for?

Okay, I know that telling you that a graphic novel about reptilian rock stars being the queerest thing I've read in ages might make you pause, but trust me okay. Trust me.

Croc and Roll is so queer and trans and joyful and about creating art even when the world is like dude you can’t, you’re literally a group of crocodilians.

When Mayday Mendez, band manager, hits complete rock bottom, she accidentally discovers a quartet of magical, singing crocodilians. Could they be her ticket to stardom and the first step toward healing the wounds of her past? Each chapter focuses on a different band member and their relationships and histories together and apart.

The first singles from the concept album also slap so hard -- you can hear some of the tracks from the incoming accompanying concept album and look when it says on the comic it’s time for Track 4 Sandwich, PLAY IT, can’t believe I’m so emotional over this song!!

I think it’s actually available to order for everyone now (I got mine through Kickstarter), and you can get copies directly through Hamish’s website (or at Thought Bubble if you are there!). I also super recommend DeadEndia which is also written by Hamish and is one of my all time faves and has trans & autistic leads.

Croc and Roll is written by Hamish Steele and Ayoola Solarin with art by George Williams.
