Years later a brutal madman sprays bullets into a crowd at a movie theater in Miami and sends a chill through the entire nation. When human remains are discovered in the dense forest next to a biking trail in Brevard County, it is only the beginning of a series of gruesome murders, which will shock the entire Space Coast.

I enjoyed returning to cocoa beach and love the characters of Jack and his family. The stories are ok but I find that there are too many threads to link up and in this book I don't think they joined up too well. I hate feeling unsatisfied when I finish a book and that is how I'm left feeling with this one.

The 2nd Jack Ryder book felt a little bit more disjointed than the first. Again, too many irrelevant characters were introduced, in detail, who would bring nothing to the story itself – and then disappear from the pages, leaving the reader wondering. I still enjoy Jack Ryder’s personal story and his dedication to his family; that’s really the reason that I want to continue reading the series.
I am not sure about his girlfriend, Shannon King, country super star. The author should do a better job fleshing her out. Certainly her being so weak under pressure requires a little more backstory.
Overall, the story-line is flaky and flimsy, but still kept me interested. Most of all, this is an easy read with just the right amount of a credible human factor that pulls you in.
I will not elaborate on the content of the plot, but I did learn about Prader–Willi Syndrome. That was informative and actually very catastrophic.

This is book two in the Jack Ryder series and I don't think you need to have read or listened to the previous book to enjoy it. Again the story jumps around from character to character and time, so it is a bit slow and confusing to begin with but soon heats up. The mystery was interesting and the method of killing was scary (not the normal gun shot victims here..well okay a few because the body count was high). I like Jack and his family as characters and the fact that they are all slightly damaged from there past and I look forward to finding out how they move on and become a family, it adds drama to a story that is already full of drama.
Jack is called in on his day off with the family because a body was found in the woods with an unusual cause of death but it is the emails his girlfriend is getting that are the real cause of his concern. Years ago she received emails just before a mass shooting happened in a cinema and now she has got another one.The problem is the police and public we're lead to believe that after the shooting the killer turned the gun on himself. Is it a copycat? Or is the killer back? Jack fears the worst because nobody but the killer knew she received the first around of emails. How can Jack find a killer and play bodyguard to his girlfriend if she is on stage signing out her heart but will that cost her heart? Then the body count rises and so does the press coverage. Can Jack find a connection or is he stretched to thin to see what is right in front of him and will he see it time?
I sped up the speed of the narrator because he dragged out the words touch for my liking but once I did that I found I enjoyed his speaking and the story just flew by.

“A Serial Killer Thriller!”
Another interesting Jack Ryder thriller with Jack and his new girlfriend Shannon who is a famous singer developing their relationship. It starts with a bang literarily with a mass shooting in a cinema.
I will advise you that you do have to take note of all the characters and dates as the story are interwoven and jump back and forwards but all becomes much clearer as you progress through the book and particularly nearer midway through. There is a lot going on so not an easy read if that is what you like but what it does have is a developing relationship between Jack and Shannon lots of interesting characters nice and bad plus a climatic ending albeit it leaves it a bit open and without a full resolution for I’m guessing the next book?
But I digress, as said Shannon is a very popular and famous singer with a huge fan base but one fan is going around murdering people and advertises the fact through emails shortly beforehand and one of the victims happens to be her soon to be X-husband who is threatening her over custody of their daughter b3ecomes one of the victims which leads to Shannon being a prime suspect. In-between this there is other sub plots which all relate and you don’t find out how and why until near the very end.
Overall a good book, parts are unpleasant not so believable and a bit of a struggle but it is exciting in parts and manages to keep your interest.

Slip Out the Back, Jack - a review by Rosemary Kenny

The incomparable Queen of Scream, Willow Rose rewards us with a second story in the Jack Ryder series, Slip Out the Back, Jack, that tells how our hero and homicide detective Jack Ryder, is obsessed with singer Shannon King, who's terrified after receiving a threatening email just before her performance at the Runaway Country Festival.in Brevard County.
What events might this message bring/have brought about - and how will Jack help protect Shannon, as they enjoy a romantic break on Cocoa Beach?
Who will the victim be and why does Shannon blame herself? Who is Shannon on the run from and why? Is she the innocent she seems to be?

I liked the engaging characters who were well-rounded and likeable (except for the killer(s) of course!). I also like the Jack's family background that made him seem more three-dimensional as an MC.
What I didn't like were the long descriptions of places and too much information/introduction of new characters, but these were not enough to spoil an excellent who-dunnit. What did rather do so, though was the fact that the book finishes much more suddenly than I expected in order to promote the next book in the series.
Why not try Slip Out the Back, Jack and the (currently 5) other Jack Ryder mysteries and decide for yourself? You'll be so glad you did!!

Jack Ryder #2

Detective Jack Ryder is preoccupied with Shannon King and the strange email she has just received. It leaves her terrified just as she is about to go on stage at the Runaway Country Festival.

We are back at Coca Beach and Jack Ryder has his hands full. Not only has Shannon King received an email that's left her terrified, but he is also investigating a body that has been found in the woods.

The characters, even though there are lots of them, are well-developed. There was also a new serial killer, but they had a new, unique way of killing their victims. The story jumps back and forth in time. I like Jack, but I'm not so sure that Shannon is the right woman for him. Only one way to find out, I'm off to read the next book in this series.

This is book 2 of a series. Definitely not a stand alone book, since we jump right into the relationship and families of Jack and Shannon without a recap of what happened in book 1. So please read "Hit The Road Jack" first, or you will be a little lost.

The actual story line bored me. Following Jack and Shannon and their children was slow, dragging, and repetitive. The mass killings weren't very exciting to read about and kind of predictable. The plot line with Elizabeth ended predictably also. Although I liked and was surprised by how it was tied into the present day, and how it pertained to recent events.
There were a lot of typos and misuse of wording. This causes a stop in the flow so I can work out what the author is actually tying to say.

I'm gonna move on the book 3 to see what happens to Jack, Shannon, the kids, and the Monahan Sisters.
And when will somebody get Little Abigail under control? She seems like a little brat.

Return to Cocoa Beach, the surf and of course, Jack. This is the second in the series.
In this one, Shannon King arrives in FL but wants to stay under the radar. She is a well known country singer who is running from her abusive husband. Her and her daughter stay at the motel owned by Jack's parents.

We follow a new serial killer who is killing people but "feeding" them to death. The story goes back and forth between time, and at times might be a little confusing, but it all fits together to the end.
Sometimes in the last two books, the end arrives before I expect it!

It is enough though to keep you reading about Jack and his family and to find out what is going to happen to Shannon as she is know being accused of murdering a man back in Nashville. And, of course, through it all, Jack as got to the find the killer!

I sometimes skip the Jack Ryder series because of sex and language, but I was having Willow Rose withdrawal, so when I saw a good sale on this one, I grabbed it. I did like it, sufficiently enough, that I plan to read the next one in the series to get the rest of Shannon's story. Shannon is Jack's new girlfriend, also a very popular singer. However, she has a fan who mass murders people and sends Shannon an email shortly before it happens. When one of the victims turns out to be Shannon's soon-to-be-ex, with whom she's fighting over custody issues, she becomes the suspect. Since Jack is in love with her, he has to find the responsible person to let Shannon off the hook. Nevertheless, her reputation is damaged.

[2.5-Stars | No Spoilers]

Somehow this one made even less sense than the last one. I had an alright time reading both, but only did so because I had no idea how they ended up in my Kindle library. A 1am purchase two years ago? Possibly.

They're fun enough to follow along with but I definitely won't be pursuing any more. If you enjoy your detective/mystery novels to make sense...you won't find it here.

Both the first book and this one's 'Big Reveal' relied on nobody doing literally the most basic things immediately following the discovery of crimes.

[SPOILERS BELOW]

This book bothered me even more than the first one -- you're telling me Katie beat a woman to death with her bare hands, was detained and questioned by police for literally days about it....and just.... nobody noticed her knuckles must have been obviously cut and bruised because there's 0% chance they weren't? I can't lol.

That's even more egregious than the Rohypnol 'reveal' in the first book, which only existed because nobody seriously looked into the most likely suspect...basically at all? One conversation and like 'eh alright, he doesn't seem like he's lying'. Again, I can't haha.

'Slip Out the Back Jack' was another great book that pulled me in from the start. I literally couldn't put it down. The storyline was that good. Not that I had any doubts, cause it's Willow Rose after all. I think the 'Jack Ryder Series' just keeps getting better. The characters are always a treat. Jack is awesome as ever. He has an unlimited amount of patience. Shannon is going through her own personal hell, and I'm unsure as to where it will lead. The 'bad guys' completely blew me away. So the way this book ended was quite shocking to me- in a good way. I can't wait to read more. A must read.

Jack and Shannon are continuing their relationship when her estranged husband enters the picture again. Shannon is performing at a multi-day concert when a gunman kills a number of people. Jack is called upon to investigate. There are number of concurrent stories in the book, and the reader is left to determine how they all fit together.

Jack is involved with a couple of the story lines and works to solve the mysteries.

This is another well written, well executed story by Willow Rose and I enjoyed it. I will be continuing with the rest of the books in this series.

I listened to the book and I thought the narrator did an excellent job.

Slip Out the Back Jack (Jack Ryder #2) was a great read by Willow Rose. A brutal shooting happens in a movie theater in Miami. There are human remains that are found in the dense forest next to a bike trail. This discovery happens to be the beginning of a series of gruesome murders. Detective Jack Ryder has only been focusing on strange emails his girlfriend Shannon King received. She is preparing to go on stage at a festival and is terrified. Jack believes there is a connection to the murders and he realizes he is looking for a serial killer. Only this killer has been on a decade long killing spree. I enjoyed reading this book and can't wait to read more by Willow Rose.

"Madness On The Loose"

In this second book of the series, Jack Ryder is busy with Shannon King and the strange e-mail she has received. She's spooked because she's preparing to go on stage at the Runaway Country Festival. While working on this, Jack senses that there is probably a connection to the numerous gruesome murders of a serial killer who's terrorizing Florida's east coast. Another terrifying, high-action thriller which is a winner for The Queen of Scream. Don't start reading while at the dinner table ... you won't be able to finish eating your steak? Highly recommend.

Slip Out The Bac Jack by Willow Rose was a great Volume 2. It just seemed to carry on from book 1.
The drama was exciting and kept you riveted.
Jack is a great character with a heart of gold and makes you wish you had someone like him in your corner.
A fabulous read and would recommend it to anyone that has a love for mystery, murder and mayhem.
I must say that Willow has a very devious mind and I'm glad that she is putting it down on paper.
I will be reading book 3 soon.
Keep up the great work.
Cheers

I really liked the first book in the series but this one just wasn't as good. Jack is settling into is relationship with Shannon King but a serial killer operating in town is taking up his time. Shannon is also receiving emails that are scaring her and her husband is determined to get her and their daughter to come home. The narrative jumped between story lines and each one seemed under developed. The relationships seemed forced and the connections were hard to follow. There was a bit of a twist at the end which is definitely setting up for future books in the series. I hope they get better.

Really Great Story

This is my first series by this particular author and given the quality of a lot of these Kindle Unlimited books, I didn't exactly have the highest of hopes for this series. But I was pleasantly surprised when I read the first one in a matter of a couple of days and I was even more pleased with this book. The stories seem so unconnected but somehow the author manages to connect everything in a way that is both complicated and easy to grasp. Im impressed with the series and would highly recommend it.

Another Willow Rose Masterpiece

Another month in the life of Detective Jack Ryder. There are few men in the world like him. He's likeable, handsome, and a really good dad even if he does heavily depend on his mom and dad. Now he's getting ready to add two more children in addition to the three he has for his parents to take care of. Ms. Rose has a fairly good but not perfect editor. Those pesky little errors are still scattered around. They aren't enough to ruin the book though. It's another masterpiece and if you enjoy mysteries\thrillers, you will love this one.

Slip Out the Door Jack

Willow Rose is one of the most amazing crime drama horror writers I have read. The story completely convincing, gritty and raw to the bone both emotionally and life like. With a mass shooting scenario in it. I am read this book one week after the Las Vegas shooting and it was hauntingly difficult to get through without a fear and sadness for those lost and the unimaginable pain they are experiencing now. I Loved This Book!!!!

Really struggling to want to keep reading the series. The main character reacts to events in an inconsistent manor sometimes in my opinion. Then I realized the author is a woman and I wonder if that has something to do with the lead character's actions. I found it hard to take the relationship abuse with the women in the series. Seemed that all men were predominantly bad and women were weak and intimidated. Until they weren't I guess.

Surprise after surprise....

I'm really enjoying the Jack series of books and I am anxious to read the rest. Jack and Shannon continue their romance and they are pulled into another criminals nest. This is one of those books where I didn't see the ending coming at all. Quite a few surprises are thrown at you in this one. I'm sure the next will be just as good...Willow Rose has yet to let me down.

willow continues to keep us interested, and excited!

Jack rider is quickly becoming one of my favorite Willow Rose characters. This series is wonderful! I can’t wait to see what happens next! This book was left with one tremendous shock, and question. You must read to find out! Spring break is usually a time for college students, and many other people, to have fun, go on vacation, and simply enjoy life. However, this is a spring break that Jack and Shannon, soon won’t forget!

Terrific!

Jack was back and still dating Shannon. But much has to happen before they get to stay together. Jack is after a serial killer and finds out it's a woman, also it is tied to Shannon's case. Now that he knows this he has to find out what else he can do to get this killer, even traveling to Jamaica. Can't wait for the next book now that the stakes are even higher with Shannon.

It was an ok book. What held my interest was Shannon, the superstar, and her young daughter Angela. Shannon began drinking heavily again and neglecting her daughter because she felt responsible for some of the killings. Three people where shot dead at her concerts, including her husband Joe (Angela's father). Then, Jack Ryder stepped up to intervene. He was working the serial killer case and being a step-parent to Angela.

Not my cup of tea

It was difficult trying to keep all of the characters straight with all the jumping around between seemingly unrelated events. I was really confused and then curious as to how all the pieces fit together. However, the chapters on the child with the eating disorder and the torture of guy by force feeding, were disturbing, not interesting. The ending was underwhelming and seemed forced. I won't be reading any more of this series.

This is a mixture of different events that need to be sorted out and the common denominator found. Detective Jack Ryan can never have a day off because he is always called in. His children suffer from this as he can never give them their deserved time. Jack travels from here to there to splice together different clues until he is able to solve this complicated story line. The thrills, the chills, the eeriness. You are never safe anyplace because you never know what can happen or where.

Much better....

I found this book much better then the first one. I enjoyed the character development especially the Shannon storyline. I am still wondering if Willow has ever been around children ,aged 3 - 6, because all of the young children seen to possess extraordinary communication skills.

I love how this author gives just enough background in her double plot, that you know their connected somehow, yet you are never really sure how till the end. You only think you have it figured out. Read this book in an afternoon. Couldn't put it down!
