And, sorry (not sorry), this Mimi loves to brag on them. You've been warned. Besides reading, I love to crochet and bake (if someone else will clean), and travel. I've even been to Ireland and stood in the ruins of where my great, great, great grandfather's great, great grandparents were married. That was a trip--pun intended. What a fun idea, to name characters after songs written and recorded in the sixties, and to give then personalities fitting the names. While we meet all three weather girls in this first novel, the story concentrates on Sunny. She's a fun character, knocked down but quick to bounce up again when given the opportunity.

The era for this novel is well described. Yes, I remember the plaid skits and the tweed bellbottoms. What a fun fashion time. The most interesting aspect of the novel for me was attention to truth in relationships. While truth came out in the end, many people were hurt along the way. We see the harm that can be the result of not being honest and open. There is a very clear gospel message included too.

This is a fun Christian romance. Cary's writing style is a pleasure and I look forward to finding out what the future holds for the other two weather girls.

It's not just a song, it's literally Sunny Day, the main character for this book. I loved the names of these gals, as well as the 70's vibe. Yep, Day does remind of me of Doris, as well as the fun plot and characters. The author got the fun of the time frame captured nicely. Sunny was a really fun character, and loved her resilience. Faith wasn't left out at all, there's plenty of it in this book. This book just might well make you feel good, it sure did me. I am really looking forward to the rest of this series.

Stormy is aptly named. She has a temper. It erupts when she thinks she is mistreated but even more so when someone attacks her younger sister. Her husband, estranged in this novel, describes living with her as living with a whirlwind. Her character is a good study in quick action before thinking over the ramifications or even knowing all the information.

Since Stormy is the main character in this second novel in The Weather Girls series, and she and her husband are living apart, there is much about marital strife and the tough road to reconciliation. Throw in a jealous woman trying to ruin Stormy's marriage and snag her husband and you have more excitement.

There are many relationship issues explored in this novel, such as judging before allowing the other person to explain fully. Another issue relates to siblings and spouses and God and relationship priorities. There is the big issue of forgiveness. There is a good deal about the most important relationship of all, with God.

This is the second novel in The Weather Girl series. This novel would be best enjoyed by reading the one about Sunny first.

Stormy is the second book in the Weather Girls series. While you might still be able to enjoy this one without first having read book one, honestly this is one where it's definitely going to be better to start from the beginning. This picks up right where the first one ends, and the first book is really going to give you a better feel for the dynamics of all the relationships in the book. I imagine I might have felt a little lost having not had all the background myself.

I must say, I thought the first book- Sunny- was fun, but I do believe that I enjoyed this one even more. Perhaps it's my love of a second chance at romance... or maybe it's just that I feel that there are far too few books about couples who are already married falling back into love with one another, but either way I just really found this story to be enjoyable. I enjoyed getting another chance to see these sisters again, and getting to know the appropriately named Stormy even better. I am looking forward to seeing what happens next in the series.

Stormy is the second installment from Jennifer Lynn Cary’s series, The Weather Girls. I enjoyed the first book, Sunny, and was excited to get my hands on this one. I thought this was an entertaining and delightful story to read. I enjoyed the humor sprinkled throughout. I never knew what was going to happen to Stormy next. It was fun going back in time to the 1970s Indiana with her and seeing the chemistry between and Rob. I adored this story and just could not put it down until I read the whole book in one day.

I am giving Stormy a very well deserved five plus stars. I highly recommend it for readers who enjoy reading clean historical fiction. I am looking forward to reading the next installment from The Weather Girls series, Windy.

I really loved the first book, Sunny. I didn't think that this one would top it, but it might have! Stormy is a wonderful read. It's a lovely second book in the series, and I would recommend reading them in order. This could stand alone, but why would you miss out like that?

It's a fun, but beautiful second chance romance story, still in the 1970's like the first book. That it just super groovy. Thought he storms and the much missed drive-in's, there is a lovely faith message fully embedded into the story. At this point, I would love to see this as a mini-series on TV. I'm eagerly awaiting the next book, and hope that you don't miss out on one single second of this remarkable series.

It's been a while I read a book that was so simple yet captivating and inspiring. Simple not in this sense that it was common but that the author did an amazing job of putting together a story  with very little funfair but with a captivating plot, characters and profound lessons in faith that rivals any book I've read in a while.

I loved Stormy! It reminded me of the power of prayers and God's leading. It highlighted so much the beauty of family and the power of forgiveness. The story was sweet, soothing and inspiring.

I received a copy of this book and this is my honest opinion.

The Weather Girls: Sunny is a Christian Historical Romance that is written by Jennifer Lynn Cary. This is book one in The Weather Girls series. This is the first book that I have read by this author. I will admit this is an instance where I judged the book by the cover/title. I was not sure what to think when I started reading. However once I got started, I wanted to delay everything else in my life and finish the book. This was a case where "one more chapter" kept me up late. This book is set in the 1970's which is not a period I read about often - and I enjoyed it. I am an 80's baby - so I understood the culture and song references.

The Weather Girls are three sisters. Sunny, Stormy and Windy. They have some major life changes and they all end up back at the home that they grew up with Gramma in Kokomo, Indiana. This book is Sunny's story. It starts off with her losing her job in the treasury department through the governor's office. She considers this the worst day ever. She returns home and tries to figure out what to do next with her life. With the help with her Gramma and Gramma's friend, Chloe she buys a historical mansion and has a great idea for a business. However, there is a competitor that wants her hands on it also - that she sends her brother, Pat to scope it out.

Pat is not thrilled when his sister sends him to do her dirty work. He does not count on being completely taken by Sunny. He is intrigued by her brains and beauty. He finds himself wanting to help her get the business off the ground. He is a corporate lawyer and comes from a family of money, but he desires so much more. He does not disclose his last name at first for he wants Sunny to see him for him, and not for who his family is.

I love these characters. I love that these characters have to figure out themselves, and how to bring God to the forefront of their lives. These characters have made mistakes, and they need to heal and allow God to work in their lives. I loved meeting the Day family - all the sisters. I cannot wait to read the rest of the sisters story.

Carve some time out to read this story - you will fall in love with the Weather Girls and their Gramma.

I received a copy of this book through the Celebrate Lit blogging program - All thoughts are my own.

This has been a wonderful start to a new series. I loved the setting of the 1970s with all its nostalgia. We are introduced to The Weather Girls with names that remind you of songs that were popular at one time. I couldn’t wait for the author to introduce us to the Day family.

The first book lets us get a glimpse of each sister but the main focus is about Sunny. Oh how I loved her sweet spirit and happy outlook. She is the oldest and has always taken the responsibility of looking after her sisters. That sure is a big task to take on for Sunny but she does it with unconditional love. At some point she will have to realize that she doesn’t have to do everything on her own.

What transpires in the story for Sunny is hard on her as her love life falls apart. I was so upset that she was humiliated in from of everyone at her job. Looks like she will have to find a new career and the best place to start over is at her Gramma’s house. It’s the perfect place to heal her heart and be surrounded by her family. Gramma is the heartbeat of this family and I so wished I had a Gramma like her. She is caring, nurturing and always there to pray for the needs of others. She can be a firecracker at times but I love that she watches over her family.

A new business adventure helps Sunny start to have happiness again and it brings her other sisters together as they join forces. What a wonderful idea they have as a new life is breathed into a very special home. I’m not telling what the business is because that needs to be unveiled by each reader. It did bring a smile to my face as these three sisters work together and grow closer as their dream is born.

We can’t forget about our dashing Pat. He is a big help to Sunny in the early planning stages and they do find themselves attracted to each other. Family secrets get in the way and I wasn’t sure if they would find a happy ever after. The story is sweet and filled with deep faith. I can’t wait to read the next story in this series.

I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit. The review is my own opinion.

The Weather Girls: Sunny starts off with Sunny performing routine tasks of her job. But quickly things take a turn for the worst. She finds herself without a job heading to the one place she knows she will find sanctuary – her grandmother’s home. Set during the 1970s, this story about Sunny Day and her sisters comes to life through the words of the author. The inclusion of Christian faith and beliefs helps bring this story to life.

Pat, son of wealthy parents, spends his days working in his father’s firm as a lawyer. He truly wants to serve as a defense attorney. When a chance encounter with Sunny changes the trajectory of his life, he finds out what truly matters.

The author does a remarkable job of setting the stage, developing the characters, and creating a book I could not put down. I have to say I look forward to reading the next book about one of Sunny’s sisters. So check it out for yourself.

I received a complimentary copy of this book, but this in no way influenced my review. All opinions are my own.

The Weather Girls: Sunny " by Jennifer Lynn Cary was a fun and fast read! It is about three sisters and how they all come bach home to grandma's house after experiencing trouble. It has all three sisters but this first book in the series is really Sunny's story. I am really liking forward to reading the rest of the books in this series. This series would make a cute Hallmark movie. I know the series are about the sisters but I think my favorite character is the grandma, she reminds me of my grandma, always availed for her grandchildren and always praying for them.
This book shows the importance of always being honest and truthful and how being true to yourself is just as important as trying to protect and be everything someone else wants you to be!

I enjoyed the setting and the start of this series tremendously! Sunny's family is a bit quirky, with their kids named after weather. It's a cute premise and I enjoyed the first story. I felt for Sunny, as her life falls apart and things look bleak after she is humiliated at work. But, unfortunate endings lead to doors that open in the way of a business venture for Sunny and her sisters. I thought that the author did a good job of writing a story set in the late 60's, early 70's that focuses on the nostalgia and good Christian values. This was a delightful story and I look forward to reading the others!

What a fun way to start a new series! From the start, I was drawn in to the life of Sunny Day and found myself wanting to read on to see what would happen next! I so enjoyed watching Sunny and Pat's romance take off--- especially with their rather unusual meeting and connection! This was a fun story set in the 1970s that offered just the right blend of romance, humor and faith too. While the 1970s was before my own time, I'm sure those that were alive during the time will enjoy some of the nostalgia the story has to offer too, but for me it was just a fun read. It was well paced and quick, and felt like a great set up to the rest of the series. I enjoyed getting to know these unique sisters and look forward to getting to know them each better and watching their Weather Girls business grow as the series goes on. I cannot wait to see what will happen next!

I had such a good time reading this book! Jennifer Lynn Cary is a new to me author, but I plan on reading the rest in the series. The Weather Girls: Sunny was a quick read and a fun story.

As an only daughter with two older brothers, I didn't experience growing up with sisters. This story made it seem like I missed out, and I love that theauthor made those relationships so relatable and enjoyable.

I also enjoyed the addition of the legend of the Cardinal. It's a sweet enhancement to a story filled with characters readers will love spending time with. I give this book four out of five stars.

Creative and cleverly written with plot twists and turn that keep the reader highly entertained and engrossed. Well written characters interact during an era very well depicted, believable, and exactly the same as mine-very nicely done indeed! A masterfully paced and especially well-developed storyline makes this book entirely enjoyable. This new to me author has decidedly caught my complete interest, and I’m decidedly hooked on the Weather Girls! Very highly recommended!

I loved Sunny and Pat's story!! They meet by accident, when he literally knocks her off her feet. When they meet again, it takes them awhile to figure out that they've met before. Then, they each wonder if the other realizes they've met before, and how to broach that topic! Before the two can work things out, Pat first has to realize that he's messed up his life, and the only way to "fix" anything is to give his life to Christ. Sunny has to learn that she's not in control, that she doesn't need to be in control, and she needs to let God have control. Once they get this sorted out, things work out in the end!

If you are looking for a light read with minimal conflict, then Sunny (The Weather Girls Book One) is the book for you. The story takes place in 1970 with Sunny Day as the main character. Yes, that’s right, her name is Sunny Day, much to her embarrassment. Her sisters are named Stormy and Windy Day and when Sunny ends up starting a new endeavor it isn’t long before she has help from family and a new handsome friend, Pat Whitcomb, of the very well-known Whitcomb family.
I fell in love with the characters, which were well developed, and felt like people I might know myself. Sunny and her sisters supported each other through each trial, showing a close-knit family, but not one without flaws and heartache. There isn’t a large focus on the heartache, though, making this book mostly light-hearted and touching. Humor and romance are sprinkled throughout. I’m a sucker for a book with a meddling grandmother and this one definitely has one and Gramma is one of the brightest spots of the book, besides Sunny herself.
I am looking forward to snatching up a copy of the next book, Stormy, which focuses on the story of Sunny’s sister.

I am really enjoying this series and love that the author gave each sister their own story. I love the humor the girls’ father had when naming them. Stormy is the perfect name for this character. Oh my when she gets a little upset, everyone knows to duck for cover. Set in the 70s’ the story is rich in nostalgia. I had to laugh when Stormy was mourning the loss of the Beatles break up. I remember when I found out about the Beatles I was crushed. Now Stormy is upset over it as well, but really shouldn’t she be more concerned about her marriage falling apart?

Rob has really gotten himself into a mess with his wife. First he pretty much made her lose her job as a teacher. Then he decides to go work in the garage . Why did he think working with tools in his garage was a great idea to forget about his problems? A trip to the ER wasn’t in his plans. I felt bad that he had no one to call to be there with him. You can tell that Rob is missing Stormy but he isn’t sure what to do about it. Jealousy may work sometimes but in the end, the real problem is still there. There is one woman who is really pushing herself on Rob and like Stormy, I wanted to wring her neck.

Through trials, tears and forgiveness this story shows how a marriage can have problems but still be able to work through them. Stormy really has been beating herself up about something that was said to her in her past. Carrying that burden helps me understand her better. Her husband loves her unconditionally but she still has this thought that she is a horrible person. I loved the part when Stormy finally opens up to a very wise person in her life. She realizes that pride has kept her away from her husband and from a job she loved. In the moment we see where we have sinned, God is right there to wipe away our tears and help us. He is there to defend us and help us move forward.

This has been a wonderful journey with Stormy as the main character in the book. I loved how much she humbled herself and found out how much she was loved by God and her husband. There are some tense moments in the story which illustrates what pride can do when not dealt with. I eagerly await the next book in this fun series.

I was excited to read the follow-up tot he first book in this series, as well as to learn more about Stormy and her seemingly failed marriage. Once again, I enjoyed being transported to 1970 and learning more about what was popular back then – I was also excited because I understood a lot more of the ’70s pop culture references in this installment.

I loved that this was a second-chance romance for a couple whose marriage is on the rocks. I enjoyed seeing how they try to mend their relationship. Although, I must say that Stormy is too stubborn for her own good, but I think that this sticks out to me more because I know that it is a character trait that is true of me. I also liked getting to know Rob as he tries to patch things up with Stormy, as well as adjust to how close she is to her sisters.

And then there is Glenda Whitehall, the antagonist of the novel. Wow, just wow, she bothered me so much and I wanted something really bad to happen to her. I think the reason I was so affected by her character is because she reminded me of people I have known over the years that are just as nasty as she is. However, that being said, I would honestly love to see her have a redemption story of sorts, although I don’t know how I’d feel being stuck in her head for an entire book!

I also loved how Stormy and the rest of her family really around Windy, even when others look down on her and gossip about her. I also like how it does touch on some of the hypocrisy that can be present in some Christian circles regarding sin.

Overall, I really enjoyed Stormy and I can’t wait to read the next installment in the series. 4/5 Stars.

The Weather Girls: Stormy is written by Jennifer Lynn Cary. This is book two in the Weather Girls series. I would highly recommend reading the books in order so that you can grasp the full effect. This series follows three sisters. Sisters that are close and that have started a business together. They run The Weather Girls Wedding Venue. This is the 2nd sisters story. Stormy the middle child of the Day family. Stormy is the one that has been able to connect with the brides and other clients in order to help build a sale.

Stormy is married to Rob. However, she left Rob abruptly. She shows up back in Kokomo at their grandmothers house. She does not want to tell her sisters the whole story yet. She throws herself into the business and tries to forget about all her previous life. What she isn't prepared for is Rob showing up and wanting to get everything fixed. Stormy is not quite sure she is ready for that. Enter Glenda, a long time nemesis of Stormy. Glenda senses there is problems with Stormy and Rob and tries to swoop in. She tries everything she can to win Rob over and to ruin Stormy and her business.

This was a wonderful story. Stormy is strong and stubborn. She buries some of her feelings and tries to throw herself into work. I really enjoyed seeing her and Rob together. I have been really enjoying the Day sisters. I love their dynamic and relationship. They all have different personalities. I have 3 sisters. I am the oldest. The Day sisters remind me of my sisters and I.

I am looking forward to reading Windy's story. She is the youngest sister.

Stormy is the second Day daughter and she certainly has a temper like her name. She and her husband Rob are having marital issues and she stormed out on him and the poor man doesn't even really know what he did or said.

This is the second book in a trilogy. I did not read the first book so I do not know if Rob and Stormy's fight is in that story or not, but we start this book with them already living apart. This trilogy takes place in the 1970's.

Stormy was just a little too stormy for me. I get that she was hurt and as the story goes on, we get past the surface issues and into what is really going on behind Stormy's anger, and it is an issue she needs to share with her husband so that he can help her carry the burden.

Rob was such a sweet guy, but he was really clueless on why his wife left him or how he could win her back. He does love her and her volatile nature and I like that he was not going to give up on her or their marriage.

There are other family issues they are facing in their extended family, the stress of a new business and getting customers, and a very jealous woman who sees her chance to not only ruin Stormy but steal her husband as well. This was quite a drama filled novel. I look forward to the third and Windy's story.

The Weather Girls: Stormy " by Jennifer Lynn Cary is Book 2 in this new series. I had the honor to read Book 1 recently and I was super excited to read Book 2.

We are back in the 1970's and this book focuses on the 2nd Sister, Stormy and her husband Rob. Stormy has quite the temper and it has caused issues with her marriage in the past, but currently it is really causing strife and separation. Rob has been known to set his wife's temper off by not choosing his words carefully before he speaks. Stormy is needing her space before her temper really explodes and she and Rob separate for a time. Rob really loves Stormy and wants their marriage to work out. Will Stormy and Rob be able to reconcile and see the best in one another? Will they seek help in keeping their marriage together?

WOW, I am truly LOVING this series. I, like Stormy, have a temper, so I totally relate to this book. I really like how Stormy realizes that she really needs some space and seeks out the separation. Rob is so tender hearted and wants the best for his marriage and for Stormy. Rob and Stormy rely on their faith to get them through the troubled times. The author does a GREAT job of bringing in the Christian message. The book is about Family, Faith and Forgiveness. I highly recommend this series to those who love Christian Historical Fiction and I also recommend reading the series in order of books! FANTASTIC BOOK!

Having read the first book in The Weather Girls series about Sunny, I eagerly wanted to read the next book in the series about Stormy. I have to say this book lived up to my expectations. Stormy and her husband Rob temporarily separate, and he wants to rebuild the relationship which he damaged. Between her “stormy” nature and a woman who sets out to capture Rob for herself, this book kept my attention.

I loved reading about Sunny, Stormy, and Windy and their fledgling wedding service business. Set in the 1970s, this book captures the essence of the time with a healthy dose of faith. I love the values illustrated by the author in this book. I also appreciate how she tells Stormy and Rob’s story while building on the story of Sunny and Pat from the first book. She also gives time to Windy and her pregnancy out of marriage. Marriage takes work and dedication, which the two display over the course of the book. I look forward to reading Windy’s story.

I received a complimentary copy of this book, but this in no way influenced my review. All opinions are my own.

3 stars - Read via Kindle eBook with all 3 books in one. I have them marked individually on Goodreads to maintain an accurate count.

I didn’t enjoy this one as much as the first one. I think it was because Stormy was very tough to like much of the time. Her pride, selfishness, and anger didn’t fit with her teacher persona or how she treated clients, etc. She was a mass of contradictions and personalities.

The back stories about her medical situation and her mom affected her behaviour, but rather shakily. While I understand they were contributing factors, her choices were hers.

Her recognition of the hurt she caused people was very surface and sudden. It all appeared to be glossed over too easily when she had bulldozed their marriage and her pregnant sister. Her husband, on the other hand, was a prince of a man who put up with a lot.

I enjoyed the other characters in the story but Stormy wasn’t a character I could get behind. She was all over the map for me.
