11 hours, 1 minute

In the thin glow of moonlight, a mess of auburn curls gleams against the rocks. A girl’s pale hand reaches from a cleft in the boulders, waving weakly. But it’s too late. A wall of raging white water crashes down, swallowing her whole…

A knock on the door late in the evening can only mean trouble for Detective Josie Quinn, but fear chokes her at the news that one of her own team is missing. No one has seen Denton PD’s Press Liaison Amber for days and, as she follows the message scrawled on the frosted windscreen of Amber’s car to a nearby dam, Josie hears a piercing scream that tells her she’s too late. But the body they pull from the freezing water is not Amber…

Josie won’t sleep until she finds a name for the beautiful girl left to drown, and the meaning of the numbers scribbled in a tattered pink diary found on Amber’s desk. She must stay strong and focused for her close-knit team. But as rumors of an argument the night Amber disappeared surface, can she even trust her own colleagues?

Cracking the cryptic numbers reveals a twisted truth about Amber’s family – did anyone really know Amber at all? Finding her alive is Josie’s only chance of knowing the truth. But as a blizzard closes in, how many more precious lives will be snatched before she can?

After reading “Local Girl Missing” # 15 in the series I’ve been working my way back through Ms. Regan’s novels.

This is the 13th installment in the Josie Quinn series and it is a good one!

Josie is just settling in with her family who are visiting for the holidays when she gets a knock on the door. Another detective, Finn Mettner, is very upset because their press liaison, Amber, is missing. Amber is his girlfriend and he hasn’t heard from her in several days.

Josie is soon joined by her detective/ husband, Noah, in trying to find Amber. Turns out even Finn doesn’t know that much about her. He did relate that she never wanted to talk about her parents or siblings as she had a very dysfunctional upbringing.

This is a clever, convoluted plot that definitely had me racing to find out the answers to the myriad of questions.

Is there a connection to the mega-church being built in the city? There are some clues pointing in that direction.

What is the significance of the dam where the bodies keep piling up?

Why is it so hard to find background on Amber and her family?

I love a strong female protagonist and Josie is clever, selfless and never stops unraveling the pieces of the puzzle.

This is a great mystery and I can highly recommend this one to anyone who enjoys thrillers and police procedurals.

I am beyond thrilled that Josie Quinn and Lisa Regan are still going strong!

A pale hand reaches up, but it is too late, the raging water is too strong, and she is washed away....

Josie knew something was wrong when she heard knocking on her door at night - that knock signals trouble, and this was no exception. Josie learns that Amber, Denton PD's press liaison is missing. Her boyfriend / fellow officer (Mettner) has not seen her for days. Josie and Noah follow the clues to the local dam where the body of a woman is found. The dead woman is not Amber, who is she? How did she end up in the dam and why?

Josie and her team will stop at nothing to find Amber even if it means looking at one of their own. As the clues pile up and more bodies are found, it becomes clear that they need to find Amber sooner than later as they killer is not stopping and as the snow falls, danger looms.

Whew! What a thrilling ride! I have read every book since the beginning of the series, and it is still going strong. This could probably be read as a stand-alone but do yourself a favor and go back to the beginning. These books are very fast reads, and once you start, you will not want to stop!

Gripping and hard to put down, this book delivered. I didn't want to put it down and had on my super sleuth hat trying to follow the clues and find a killer myself. Of course, Josie is much better at that then I am!

Josie along with some other characters in the book continue to evolve and grow. I love the sense of family and community in this book. Regan has given us characters to root for and this book had me rooting the entire way.

Thrilling, fast paced and gripping.

***Another great buddy Read with DeAnn and Brenda! WE can't wait for the next book, thankfully Lisa Regan is a fast writer! Please read their reviews as well.

Denton's Press Liaison Officer, Amber, has gone missing in unusual circumstances and when a body is recovered from the dam it is feared it may be hers. It turns out not to be but then more deaths occur and they all appear to be related. Josie and her team are desperate to find Amber and to catch the murderer.

Another exciting thriller in this series that kept me turning the pages and staying up late to finish it. The author is maintaining the same excellent standard in every book so far. Five stars.

I can’t believe we’re up to book 13 and Lisa Regan is still keeping it fresh! This book starts with Detective Finn Mettner in pieces because his girlfriend, Amber Watts - the Denton Police Force press liaison person, appears to be missing. Mett has been silly and broke into Amber’s house because he thought something was wrong. All he achieved was put himself under suspicion.

There is, however, a strange clue which leads the officers to Russell Haven dam where it looks like Amber is about to drown. Detective Josie Quinn can’t help herself and jumps in to save her. Only it’s not Amber. It turns out to be her sister, Eden. From then on the plot is one twisty piece of work. We have a dysfunctional family in which everybody seems to be lying or hiding something. We have a charismatic evangelical preacher who is a bit fishy, a psychologist who killed himself 12 years ago and, and…

Nothing is as it seems and everyone is lying and keeping secrets. This is not surprising when when you finally learn the sheer scale of what this lot of miscreants has been up to. It is quite mind boggling! More family members are killed. It’s as if there is a vendetta against them - but why? And throughout the story is the question - is Amber still alive?

This is not a case of too many twists. Every twist was perfect for the story although I did have to consciously pick my jaw up off the floor a few times. The pace was constant throughout and the book never dragged. Despite my best efforts I don’t think anyone could pick who killed who in this crazy, bonkers story but it sure was a lot of fun reading it. Many thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the much appreciated arc which I reviewed voluntarily and honestly.

This is such a strong series with great plots and writing and terrific characters to care about, that it’s still going strong after twelve books. Main character, Detective Josie Quinn has certainly been through a lot, especially in the last episode where she lost her beloved grandmother who brought her up. Now she’s married to fellow detective Noah and her life is getting back on track.

Late one evening, young detective Finn Mettner turns up on her doorstep, distressed and worried about his girlfriend, Amber, their police media liason officer. The last time he saw her two nights ago they had an argument and he hasn’t seen her since. He went to her house looking for her and found her car, purse and phone all at home, so he is concerned about where she could be. He also found a strange message left on her car, which Josie follows up only to find a woman who looks like Amber trapped in a dam.

The case is a puzzling one. Who is the woman and what is her connection to Amber? Amber has never talked about her background, even to Finn who says she told him she had been estranged from her family for years. If Josie has any chance of finding Amber, she must delve into her past and unravel the lies and secrets she finds in order to work out what has happened in the present day to cause Amber to disappear. This is a well paced, tense mystery with enough perfectly placed twists to keep you guessing until the very end. A totally addictive read!

Detective Josie Quinn was on a day off, home with her family surrounding her, apart from her husband Noah, who was on a shift, when someone knocked on the door. When she saw Detective Finn Mettner standing there, distraught and needing Josie to go with him, she had no idea of what was ahead of her and the whole Devon team. Mettner’s girlfriend and Denton Police Department’s Press Liaison person, Amber, was missing and the only clue they had was a time and the name of a nearby dam.

Josie risked her life to reach the young woman trapped on the rocks when the gates were released to send a wall of raging water down into the river, but it was too late. She was washed away – but when her body was found, they realized it wasn’t Amber. Who was the young woman who had lost her life at the dam? As the freezing weather continued and the snow laden blizzard caused chaos, Josie, Gretchen, Noah and the Chief worked day and night to find the answers. And what they found shocked them to the core. But the clock was ticking. Was Amber alive, or were they yet to find her body? After all, with two bodies and one missing person, Josie had no idea what was ahead…

The Drowning Girls is the 13th in the Detective Josie Quinn series by Lisa Regan and once again it was a thrilling, chilling ride! Fast paced, breathtaking and intense, the team always work well together, pushing themselves until they get the answers they need. I love Josie’s character; she’s strong, courageous and compassionate, determined to do the right thing, always. I’m looking forward to #14 already! Highly recommended.

I can hardly believe that this series is now on book #13. I avidly read these books and I love that fact that Lisa Regan publishes them so quickly. With her usual strong writing and spot-on pacing, this one was a quick and thoroughly enjoyable read.

Josie is again on the case, but this time the victim is too close to home. Amber, the Denton PD press liaison is missing.

A tip leads the team to a nearby dam and there’s an attempted water rescue. In fact, as you might guess from the title, this one features a lot of water rescues!

Where is Amber and does it have anything to do with the woman at the dam? Josie and team race against the clock to figure things out as Amber remains missing. There’s a megachurch opening in Denton and that seems to be connected to things as well.

This one kept me turning the pages as I hoped that Amber would be found and that the team would figure out the clues as the bodies pile up. This is another excellent addition to the series, I do recommend reading them in order.

This was another fun buddy read with Debra and Brenda. We've been reading this series together for years.

Thank you to Bookoutre and NetGalley for the chance to read this one early, set to release on 12.10.21.

A knock on the door in the middle of the night does not portend anything good. In this case one of Josie's own detectives is reporting that the Police Department's Press Liaison, Amber, is missing. Just hours later she receives a call that she is to report to the nearby dam ... a woman's body has been found.

But the body pulled out of the water isn't Amber.

Who is the victim? Where is Amber?

The more they investigate, the more questions they have. What were the number etched on Amber's car windows? What is the list of numbers found hidden in her desk? Who is the dead woman? And why doesn't her boyfriend, a detective himself, not know anything about Amber although they've been dating for a year? Why does everything that Amber did scream secrets and lies?

Josie and her team are going all out to find Amber, find who took her ... and hopefully keep anyone else from losing their lives.

As all books in the series, this is a well-written crime fiction/police procedural. The character development shows the reader a credible, realistic protagonist with emotional depth. The author's characters never disappoint. The plot is somewhat complex, intriguing, and the story line is riveting. The conclusion was explosive ... unexpected and surprising. Although 13th in the series, this is easily read as a stand alone.

Many thanks to the author / Bookouture / Netgalley for the digital copy of this crime fiction. Read and reviewed voluntarily, opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.

the setup…
Detective Josie Quinn is spending quality time with her family and friends when her colleague, Detective Finn Mettner, shows up asking for her help. He fears Amber Watts, their press liaison and his girlfriend, is missing and Finn only wants Josie’s help for now. After checking out Amber’s house, it’s clear she’s not there though all of her belongings are. Josie finds a cryptic message on her car’s windshield that leads them to Russell Haven dam. When they arrive they see a red-haired woman lying between boulders, clearly in distress but alive and about to be washed away by released water from the dam. Is it Amber?

the heart of the story…
Amber is missing, Finn’s out of control and Josie is struggling to find out anything about the woman who hasn’t had contact with her family for ten years. It’s baffling but the team is dogged in their pursuit of answers, strangely connected by the Russell Haven dam. The procedurals are outstanding.

the narration…
Kate Handford had her hands full with a host of unusual characters and she provided distinctions for all. Loved her storytelling, especially around the harrowing scenes.

the bottom line…
I went into this blind and am thankful I did as there were so many twists and revelations. Amber is an enigma and peeling back all those layers of her past brought one surprise after another. It’s another story where I was just as much in the dark as the team but did guess one of the major twists. This was beyond gnarly.

It's Josie's day off when Detective Finn Metner comes to the door asking for her help. His girlfriend Amber Watts has disappeared. He hasn't heard from her all weekend and thinks she may be in trouble. He broke into her house and found her purse, keys, and phone; but she wasn’t there. A message scrawled on Amber's windshield leads Josie and other detectives to the local dam. They find a body of a woman that was washed into the spillway of the dam. When she is pulled from the freezing water, they realize that it is not Amber. Josie and her team work day and night to uncover Amber's past and look for clues to where someone may have taken her.

This is the thirteenth book in the series and it's still going strong. This very twisty fast-paced mystery had me hooked from the beginning. Where was Amber? Had she lied about her past? Who was the girl at the dam? I was shocked by the surprise ending that I didn't see coming at all. My rating: 5 Stars.

It’s always an honor and a challenge to be one of the first to read and review a Lisa Regan novel. Part of me wants to gush until the whole story is told and the other part of me wants to keep it all a secret so the book unfolds in its precise pacing that Lisa has perfected. Instead, I always find myself walking a tight rope between the two. We are 13 books deep with Josie Quinn now, but don’t get comfortable, because just when you think you know what to expect out of Lisa’s ‘go against the rules detective,’ she’ll throw you for a loop.

Life has changed Josie Quinn. She’s seeing family from a different perspective now that her beloved grandmother, Lisette, has passed away and left her to deal with life without her. When the book opens, Josie is about to sit down with the family she has left to watch her sister’s latest special reporting. A knock on the door changes her plans instantly when she discovers Detective Finn Mettner on her doorstep, in need of help. His girlfriend, and the PR liaison for the Denton PD, was missing, and Mett didn’t have a good feeling about it.

Once Josie saw the scene, she didn’t have a good feeling about it either, but she barely had time to finish reaming Mett out for breaking the rules of a basic investigation because he knew the victim (A bit like the pot meeting the kettle, if you ask me, so I giggled when Josie thought the same thing) when they instantly found themselves embroiled in a whole new murder investigation.
It was two weeks before Christmas and Josie had four detectives detecting, three men a lyin’, two women missing, and a preacher with a very sketchy past. When Mett gets placed on suspension during the investigation, Josie is down a detective, and forced to look at one of her own as the perpetrator of violent murders and kidnapped women. Do not even get me started on how I felt when she took off the kid’s gloves on poor little Detective Mettner!

In true Josie Quinn fashion, she laid out the pieces of her puzzle and started to fit them around the edges to build a frame, but the pieces didn’t want to go together logically. That told her one thing; their logic was wrong. The tangled web of lies she had to unravel from the Watts family encompassed years’ worth of relationships that touched multiple families and multiple lives.
What wasn’t in true Josie Quinn fashion? Her personal life. She was tough as nails at work, but softer with her family. She was learning to accept the things that had happened to her and the wonderful people who had been part of her life along the way to offer her love, and the people she had in her life now that loved her unconditionally. When she let those emotions filter into her work, she was able to move mountains for Mett and the woman he loves.

This time, while plenty of people tried to kill Josie in a myriad of different ways, Lisa tips us on our ear and throws us a curveball in this book that shows us how much Josie has changed in the eight months since Lisette left her life.

As always, it is nearly impossible to review a Josie Quinn novel without spoilers, but I will say The Drowning Girls shows us that our favorite characters are at their best when they grow and change over the course of the series. Kudos to Ms. Regan for finding her voice again even when she thought it had disappeared for good and for doing it in a way that kept us enthralled to the very last page. If I had to sum up The Drowning Girls in a sentence, I would say: Josie is learning to live with both the grief and the joy in her life as is the woman behind the pen.

Oh, my lanta, this was a wild ride. I think it’s safe to say that THE DROWNING GIRLS, book 13 in the Detective Josie Quinn series, has one of the most intricately crafted plots of this entire series to date. Regan is an absolute master of her craft.

Action packed from the very first page, this was such a captivating read right up until the last words. I swear every book in this series is better than the last. 13 books in, I’m not sure how that’s possible, yet here we are!

If you haven’t picked up book 1 of this series yet, I highly recommend!

I like Lisa Regan’s Josie Quinn detective series and look forward to each new release; I have read 6 of them.

Still mourning the death of her beloved grandmother (in the 11th book), Josie is stronger in this the 13th of the series. All of the familiar supporting family and work characters are here. Although the plot is a bit convoluted, this is another fast, engrossing read. Unfortunately for Josie, aspects of the case remind her of her abusive upbringing and she must cope with some break through reactions while still conducting the case.

I always appreciate revisiting the repeating characters in Josie’s life. Although this would work as a stand alone, I think it will be appreciated more by those who have read others in the series and are familiar with Josie’s personal story.

If you like well written police procedurals/thrillers, and are not familiar with Lisa Regan, I would recommend her. I can’t wait for the next one!

Book release date 10th Dec 2021 Thanks to netgalley, Lisa Regan and Bookouture for the ARC in exchange for my fair and honest opinions. The drowning girls is Book 13 in the amazing Josie Quinn crime series!

Mettner is concerned that his girlfriend and the teams press liason Amber is missing. He asks Josie for his help, problem is the team realise they know barely anything about her. So when a body is found in the water and Amber's diary is found addressed to Josie with a cryptic code. They have no leads and only Mettner's word that she's missing. Everyone one is suspicious question is how many more murders will happen before the case is solved!

I love this series and I especially love the way Lisa Regan writes. Her prose is so clear and to the point whilst giving room for descriptive text when needed. I must say I was the least connected to this installment compared to others, maybe because its centred around Amber who I barely know and paid very little attention too. So to begin the book wasn't striking for me. However about half way through the book completely turned around for and and the last 3 chapters were utter madness u frigging loved it!

As per usual we get a wider perspective of how Josie is copying following Lynettes recent passing and how she is handling her grief. As well as having her biological family and Henry sprinkled in through the books was great. I also love that I can use Henry's age to know how far the characters are since I started reading this series!

Detective Josie is a great detective and during this case whilst truly having to make hard decisions. I always find this really humanised the Detective Quinn where often in Detective stories the lead us just kicking ass and taking names which is so opposit inspiring I struggled to put the book down.
The case was interesting and the discovery of the body had me on the edge of my seat. Who was it? Well you have to read it! It was great how they basically fit Amber's childhood and why she is how she is. I'm hoping now to love her character as much as I do Gretchen.

We hear less from the side characters in this book but I did find it interesting the way Mettner is being eyed with suspicion, but it was understandable as they had their last killer influencing the case. I couldn't but laugh though as let's be honest I would never like in Denton with all the crime!
Would I recommend this book?

Yes I would recommend the whole series. Its great well written and if your a Lisa Regan books then you will have been waiting for this one just like me. It wasn't my favourite but I can't fault how well written it is! 4 stars 🌟 if you like D.K Hood, Wendy drainfield or Stacey Green then this is the one for you ofcourse start from the first in the series not the 8th as I had done.

I am delighted to be catching up with the latest happenings in this great series featuring Detective Josie Quinn, written by Lisa Regan. In this thirteenth instalment, Josie from the Denton PD, Central Pennsylvania is gutted when a member of her team, Amber, a Press Liaison Officer, goes missing. Josie is watching tv with her family when there's a knock at her front door; it's Detective Finn Mettner and he's asking for her assistance. There's a body in a dam nearby, but it's not Amber...

Although I dived into this series at book nine, there was enough backstory to really enjoy this novel, The Drowning Girls. It was captivating, and a briskly-paced police procedural with more than enough action taking place to retain my interest. Once hooked, I was glued to the pages and it was a ride of surprises. With its stylish and tense plot, this is crime thriller was an intriguing and emotional mixing of Josie's personal and professional lives. The story effortlessly flowed and there was never a dull moment as the plot beelined for the finale. Josie makes a tough, determined and admirable protagonist and once again, I thoroughly enjoyed my time with her. The Drowning Girls contains drama, suspense and tension by the shedload and I highly recommend this immersive novel which will delight all readers, both series stalwarts and new readers. I am eagerly anticipating what Lisa Regan has in store for Josie Quinn next!

Wow! This is book 13 in the Josie Quinn series, and Lisa Regan has kept it exciting. Josie’s evening with family and friends is interrupted by a knock on the door. Another detective, Finn Mettner, is distraught that his girlfriend - Amber, the Police Department’s Press Liaison - is missing. Was Finn involved in her disappearance? Josie starts to help him search, and her selfless heroism will have you biting your nails as she jumps into freezing water to try to save a young woman – who turns out not to be Amber. What follows is a compelling search into who, exactly, was Amber? Even Finn knew little about her, beyond the fact that she was estranged from her family who she called toxic. As facts turn up about Amber’s unhappy background, more bodies are found and the connections keep leading back to her and her estranged family.

This book is so gripping that you’ll find yourself reading faster and faster. The plot is more than intense and masterful – it is brave. Lisa Regan was struggling through grief when she wrote it. Her depth of feeling permeates every emotional, scary, and unpredictable twist in this deeply satisfying story. So well done – five stars!

The Drowning Girls, like the others I’ve read in the series, has elements of both a procedural and a thriller. Josie Quiinn and her husband Noah both work for the Denton, Pennsylvania police department. Their latest case hits close to home - Amber Watts, the department’s press liaison is missing, and their newest detective, Finn Mettner, is one of the suspects. I like the way Josie, Noah, and their colleague Gretchen Palmer work together on the investigation. On the personal front, Josie is still learning to deal with a great loss, but is making progress.

The Drowning Girls is the thirteenth book in this series and one of my favorites. I started reading this series with book six and have enjoyed all those I’ve read. Each book has interesting, complex characters and complicated plots that will keep you guessing. The case in this book is very intense, and there are so many twists and turns, there was no way I could anticipate how the investigation would turn out. I highly recommend this well-written, suspenseful book, which I would rate 4.5 stars, rounded up to 5.

I received this ebook from NetGalley through the courtesy of Bookouture. An advance copy was provided to me at no cost, but my review is voluntary and unbiased.

Small-town Denton, Pennsylvania, detective Josie Quinn is enjoying holiday time with her husband, Noah (a police force lieutenant), her twin sister and TV show host Trinity and other family members when a co-worker, Detective Finn Mettner, knocks on the door. He's been dating Amber Watts, the department's press liaison, and he frantically insists she's gone missing. He convinces Josie to come with him to Amber's home; when they see a reference to a nearby dam written in the ice on Amber's car windshield, Josie heads out. What she finds is a woman's hand, but she manages to grab it too late to stop it and the rest of the body from being washed away. The good news? It's not Amber.

The only real clue is Amber's diary - with Josie's name on it - containing a set of numbers that no one can decipher. The cause of death is determined to be murder, but when the dead woman finally is identified, the investigative waters become even more muddled. Some leads point to a possible connection with a wildly popular preacher-man who, with his wife, is building a mega-church at the outskirts of town. But that, too, goes nowhere fast. A couple of Amber's relatives who turn up turn out to be quirky as all get-out, but there's no hard evidence that they're connected to the murder. And Finn's almost stalker-like behavior toward Amber doesn't help, instead pushing him to the top of the suspect list despite Josie's initial insistence that he's innocent.

The fact is, Amber remains missing and feared dead. But hope springs eternal, so Josie, Noah and the rest of the team keep looking for her while trying to solve the murder at the dam. Still, time is of the essence; If Amber has been kidnapped and is still alive, can they find her before the searchers' worst fears come true? The only thing I'll say is that the last handful of chapters makes for the most frenzied, twisted-up ending I've read in a long while. All told, it's another solid entry in this enjoyable series (this is the 13th book), and I'm pretty sure it will please old fans and create new ones as well. Thanks to the publisher, via NetGalley, for the opportunity to read a pre-release copy.

I feel I say the same things every time there is a new book to the Detective Josie Quinn series by Lisa Regan because the series is still going strong! Each book gets better and better, and I love Josie more with each one.

What I loved

With each book, Lisa Regan creates an exciting, unique plot that has me clicking the pages as fast as I can.

With each book, Josie continues to grow and develop. I love that each book's past and new characters create a great sense of family and a strong team.

This series is still going strong for Debra and DeAnn, and I love sharing our love for this series and Josie with them.

3 reasons to read this series

For the character development and dynamics between characters
For a fresh, unpredictable plot with plenty of twists and turns, you might or might not see coming
After reading one, you will want to read the next right away.

I received a copy from the publisher

The Drowning Girls by Lisa Regan is the 13th in the Detective Josie Quinn series.

First, let me thank NetGalley, the publisher Bookouture, and of course the author, for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

Series Background:  (Warning – May contain spoilers from previous books)
Detective Josie Quinn has had a rough life,  and she recently lost her beloved grandmother. She has a rather new family,  although they are actually her biological parents, and include her twin sister - news reporter Trinity Payne,  as well as her brother Patrick.   She is now back at work with the Denton Police Department, and her team consists of Detective Noah Fraley (her new husband), Detective Gretchen Palmer, and Detective Finn Mettner.  Their boss is Chief Bob Chitwood.

My Synopsis: (No major reveals, but if concerned, skip to My Opinions)
Detective Finn Mettner has been dating the departments Press Secretary Amber Watts for about a year now.  When she goes missing, it quickly becomes apparent that there have been some secrets kept.

They find the body of a young woman drowned in the nearby dam, and for a few tense moments, they think it is Amber.

The team focuses on the pink diary that is found on Amber's desk, and the numbers contained within it.  They try to find more information her family, which not even Finn knows about.  The only way to find Amber is to find out more about her, but it's beginning to look like there were good reasons for Amber to stay away from her family.

My Opinions:
Although I generally push others to read this series in order, this one could probably be read as a stand-alone novel.  That being said, read them in order!

I liked that Josie's grief over her grandmother's passing was not swept away, and that the author showed that grief comes and goes.   This book centered on families, the good and the bad.

Overall, the story was complex, if a little long.  Although I  had suspected a few of the twists, not all were evident.

Anyway, Lisa Regan continues to have a winner with the Josie Quinn books.

*Dark Secrets*

Oh Josie Quinn, this instalment sees her and her team looking for one of their own. This is their press liaison Amber. She is also involved with fellow officer they affectionally call Mett.

Mett is worried about Amber, she has not been seen in days, he approaches Josie to come to Amber’s home. On their arrival Josie is not best pleased as Mett had broken into the house without permission. Amber’s car is still in the driveway they notice there is a message written on the windscreen it’s visible due to the frosted glass. The message refers to a nearby dam and as Josie calls in the team on arrival they see a woman in the water. She has Amber’s red hair, it looks every bit like Amber. Of course Josie jumps in.

The team soon discovers this is just the tip of the iceberg, do they really know Amber? There are a lot of skeletons in her closet and Josie can definitely relate.

There is murder, revenge, cons going on and scores to settle, as usual there are thrills leading right up to the end and Josie is right in the thick of it

One of my favorites in this series so far! It starts off quickly and is action packed until the last pages. As many of the books in this series do, this book focuses on a particular member of Josie's team. This time it is Amber; their press liaison who is also dating Finn Mettner.

This is #13 in the Josie Quinn series. While you don't have to read them all in order, I think you'll be missing out if you don't. I at least recommend that you read the first 3 as they work as a trilogy introducing everyone and giving you a good background on Josie.

Number 13 in the series and it is still as fresh as the first few books! How does Lisa Regan do that? Josie Quinn is such a great character with fabulous supporting characters and each new book and story is always a mind blowing experience. Once again, the author knocked it out of the park. I never suspected that end. Geez, she's good! Keep them coming! They are THAT good!

Loved it!
I am currently enjoying all of this series on audible. There is everything to like and nothing that I don’t like about the series. This includes the narrator for the series.
I hope this series continues for a long while because I am embarrassed to say that I would definitely miss Josie Quinn. She is possibly my favorite heroine ever.

Welp…

She has done it again.

Man the twists never stop. I love this series and I really can’t get enough of visiting all the characters. Josie is such a badass and when one of their own finds themselves first under suspicion and making the wrong choices it is up to her to be the voice of reason. Also I’m going to say this again…I love, love, love Noah. This book is a great addition to the series!

Edit…

I would like to add that this book is an ode to grief. Josie’s grief still remains a living breathing entity. Almost as if you can reach into the book and touch it. And how she has changed in these months since Lisette’s death is really huge.

It’s a stunning glimpse also into the author’s grieving process since losing her father suddenly. I love this book for many reasons, most of which is the sheer determination and talent of this author.

I’ll leave you with a quote from Lisette that is so very special. And something that the character & the author must learn to do.

“You have to learn to live with them both, my dear. The grief and the joy.”
