Madeline Martin is a New York Times, USA Today, Publisher's Weekly, and international bestselling author of historical fiction and historical romance with books that have been translated into over twenty-five different languages.
She lives in sunny Florida with her two daughters (known collectively as the minions), two incredibly spoiled cats and a man so wonderful he's been dubbed Mr. Awesome. She is a die-hard history lover who will happily lose herself in research any day. When she's not writing, researching or 'moming', you can find her spending time with her family at Disney or sneaking a couple spoonfuls of Nutella while laughing over cat videos. She also loves research and travel, attributing her fascination with history to having spent most of her childhood as an Army brat in Germany.

Elspeth is on her way to wed a childhood friend when she is abducted by Calum Campbell, who hopes to use her as a bargaining chip to gain an audience with her brother. But when they begin to fall in love, they must figure out how to end the war between their clans if they hope to be together.
Though it was slow going at first, I soon got sucked into this story of warring clans and unlikely romance. Calum’s gentle nature provides an interesting counterpoint to Elspeth’s boldness, and I enjoyed how he taught her to defend herself. I also thought the romance and plot were well-balanced, as there was plenty of action and adventure, but it did not overshadow the relationship.
This is the third book in the series, and I’ve not read the first two, so I was able to follow along well enough but probably would have better understood Elspeth’s brother Ross, who was integral to the plot, had I read his book. The characters fell in love very quietly, which I did enjoy, but I do wish there were more transitional scenes from enemies-to-lovers in the first half – but then I do understand the constraints of the page count too.
Overall an enjoyable read that delivers on what’s promised on the tin.

Barbara’s rating: 5 of 5 Stars Series: Highland Alliances #3 Publication Date: 3/29/22 Period: Medieval Scotland (1360) Number of Pages: 267
This three-book author collaboration series has been a delight to read. I mean, how could you go wrong with three great authors like Terri Brisbin, Jenni Fletcher, and Madeline Martin. I’ll definitely miss the MacMillan clan, but I thought this was an excellent series-ending book. It wrapped up all of the loose ends from the earlier books and provided us with a view into the futures of all of our characters. While all of the books were top-notch, I think this final book was the best of the series because these two characters had the most against them and the most to overcome before they could find their HEA. You can definitely read this as a stand-alone book, but I highly recommend reading the other two books as well.
Several years ago, the vile and violent Andrew Campbell, Laird of the Campbell clan, laid waste to the MacMillan clan and murdered their Chieftain. The MacMillan chieftain was a kindly leader and loving father to three young children – Ross, Fergus, and Elspeth. For their heinous act, the Campbells had their lands confiscated and were banished to Ireland where they were so poor the clan was slowly starving. Campbell’s solution to the starvation of his clan in Ireland is to travel back to Scotland and attack the MacMillan clan again – thus killing the latest Chieftain and causing Ross to be elevated to Chieftain.
Now that his father and brother have been killed, Callum is Laird of the Campbell clan. Callum is nothing like his violent father and his one desire is to save his clan by making peace in Scotland and being allowed to move his clan back there. However, with the MacMillan’s enmity, he won’t even be able to get any word at all with the new MacMillan chieftain. His people are starving, he wants peace, so what is he to do? Why, he’ll just kidnap Ross’s sister Elspeth and agree to give her back, unharmed, when Ross agrees to meet with him to discuss peace. Yep – that is going to work out well.
Elspeth MacMillan hates every Campbell on the earth with an unbelievable passion. The Campbells have murdered her people, murdered her father, murdered her uncle, and are still attacking her brothers. If she were trained as a warrior, she’d take them all out herself. What does she do when she is kidnapped by a Campbell? She fights like the warrior she ought to be.
I absolutely adored Calum and Elspeth and was wholeheartedly convinced they were perfect for each other. I loved Elspeth’s belief in and loyalty to Calum even in the light of damning evidence against him. They had so very much to overcome that it seemed a near-impossible task for them, but they made it and it was wonderful. We even got some delightful insights into all of the couples four years down the road and it was wonderful to see.
I can definitely recommend this series and this book. I hope you’ll give it a read and love it as much as I did.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
After the death of his father, Calum Campbell, the new head of the banished Campbell clan, just wants peace and to return to Scotland. After his father’s antics, he has little hope that Ross, the MacMillan Chieftain will listen to him, but Calum has a plan, he will abduct Ross’ sister Elspeth and hold her hostage until Ross agrees to a meeting.
Elspeth is on her way to meet her soon-to-be betrothed when the Campbells take her. The Campbell chief killed her father and uncle and were banished from Scotland by the king, their lands given to several clans, including hers. But the Campbell is back and wreaking havoc in an attempt to regain their lands. She is sure they are evil, but once they get to Ireland, she realizes that they are starving and Calum is not his father, he wants peace and a chance to save his clan. She agrees to help them and writes to Ross and sets up a meeting.
Things become complicated by the attraction between them, and each wants to be true to their clans. They hope the meeting with Ross will clear the air and peace can be achieved. But things don’t go as planned and when she learns of more Campbell attacks while she was in Ireland, her faith in Calum’s innocence waivers – but when her betrothed grabs her, it is Calum who saves her and when he swears he doesn’t know anything about the attacks, she decides to appeal to her other brother for help. But when they come across another “Campbell” attack in progress, they realize the truth and know that things are going to get much worse unless they can convince Ross that Calum is innocent, which is a seemingly impossible task and makes their chances for a HEA even more unlikely.
This is the final book in the collaboration trilogy following the MacMillan siblings and in my opinion, this one is the best of the three. Calum and Elspeth have such great chemistry and of the three couples, they have the most to overcome. The book is filled with action, intrigue, betrayal, steamy love scenes, shocking revelations, big twists, a nail-biting-hanging on the edge of your seat-OMG ending, and finally a HEA complete with an epilogue. I loved this book and highly recommend it. This is the third book in the series, and while you could read this as a standalone title, I would strongly recommend reading the series in order for the best reader experience.

Will the scars between their people be impossible to overcome …
Having only read the first book in this multi-authors trilogy, I do not know how the background plot progressed, but this book being the last, it answers the questions left open at the end of the first installment. Elspeth and Calum are two persons trapped by their duty to their people, both are to do what they must even if it is far from what they want. When she is kidnapped by her clan’s nemesis, she fears the worst by the hands of her attackers. Yet he is considerate, respectful and with kindness he tries to show her whatever the rashness of his action, it was with the best intention at heart. To end this war wagging between their two clans. Calum has always been more his mother’s son than his sire. He never wants this endless war for power and land, but as only the son of an abusive laird, he had few choice why now he is the head of his clan, he wants to bring peace and hope to his people, to end their suffering. Even if it means one last wrong deed to assure them of a better future. He wants the sister of their enemy to hold as a bargain ship, no harm will come to her as he is not this kind of man, but desperate times call desperate measures. And when his captive turns to be as gentle a soul as beautiful she is, he is lost to her. But what can they do when returning her to her kin is his clan salvation, especially as she is promised to an other.
A lovely tale of two people who want only the best for those under their care but also long for more for themselves than the loneliness their status brings them, worst, torn when doing their duty will mean going separate ways.
As an inside, I was furious at Elspeth ill-advised choice to prove her worth at the most ill-timed moment. 4.5 stars

I have been granted an advance copy by the author, here is my true and unbiased opinion.
Calum wants to save his clan, who were exiled to Ireland. They are living on baron land and starving . He kidnapped Elspeth. Hoping to get peace for his people. And bring them back to Scotland. Lot happening in this enemies to lovers story.
A lovely Highland romance, with the added twist of kidnap and betrothal thrown in. Great characters and storyline, a wonderful chemistry too. Madeline has put her magic to a tale probably told before in one form or another, but because it’s hers it’s just that bit more special and polished. Great read
I received an Arc copy of this book and chose to post this review
The Highlander’s Stolen Bride, Madeline Martin. EEK! I am so glad that I read this emotional and sweet, romantic book. Everything about shared with the reader the love and care between all the characters. I found the story of Calum and his people to be very humble. As Calum and his people accepted Elspeth into their keep was truly a turning point in the book that conveyed so much compassion and loyalty among the people. Of course the writer just didn’t stop with her talent of telling a magnificent love story about two people who so richly belong together. I found myself rooting for just one kiss between Elspeth and Calum, but thoughts of their people clouded their thoughts. I don’t know if the moments between Calum and Elspeth when they first meet was supposed to be funny, but I found them quite comical. The head bunt was the funniest one. Again, the writer brings a Heroine such as Elspeth to the pages, who does not want to be seen as a simpleton. She wants to fight hard and show that she can contribute to her land too. I like how this writer added action and a little suspense to the story. The suspense certainly did have me flipping the pages. Until next time my fellow readers read on!
An excellent story with the most wonderful characters which I've come to expect from Madeline Martin. I started reading the book late yesterday afternoon and actually stayed up half the night to finish it because I just couldn't put it down!
Has there ever been a hero as brawny as Calum and yet with such a gentle soul?! All he wants is peace for his clan after all the battles and chaos his late father had caused, even being ousted from Scotland. Desperate to ease his clan's suffering, he kidnaps Elspeth and plans to use her as a bargaining chip in exchange for peace and getting their lands back. What he never bargained for, though, is how quickly she makes a place for herself in his heart!! As for Elspeth, it doesn't take long for her to understand the plight this clan is in and wants to help all she can. Calum is not at all what the rumours said he was, he's definitely not like his father was and when passion heats up between them, they both wonder if peace can ever happen between their two clans.
Tons of action, some swoon worthy moments, some heart in the throat moments and an ending that will put a smile in your heart. Simply put, I absolutely loved this story!!
I received an ARC of this book via NetGalley and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Calum Campbell is desperate to establish peace and save his clan from the exile and starvation they face in Ireland. The most peaceful strategy he can think of is kidnapping Elspeth MacMillan in the hopes that he can hold her for ransom in exchange for a promise from her brother, the chieftain, to end the bloody feud between their clans. Calum is unsurprised to find Elspeth spitting mad and uncooperative, but what he isn’t prepared for is her ability to break through the defenses of his heart. But with their families at war, any sort of peaceful, loving future between Elspeth and Calum seems a far-fetched dream.
This book was enemies to lovers done right. The fire between Elspeth and Calum was palpable and the gradual development of that heat into a passionate love was expertly well-timed. I loved that these two worked together to try to help Calum’s suffering people and end the warring between their clans. I only wish that Elspeth’s brother had been more reasonable; his behavior earlier on in the book definitely made his behavior towards the end seem very abrupt and made it hard to gauge his character, but I don’t want to say much more and risk spoilers. This book gave me possibly too much anxiety for my current state of being, but it was definitely a page-turner, especially after the slow burn build up of tension and heat between Elspeth and Calum. I loved how these two fought for each other and their future together; it gave me serious Disney Pocahontas vibes and that was a childhood favorite of mine, so I was here for it. This was a fun, fast read that’s definitely worth checking out.
Madeline Martin writes wonderful historical romance with strong characters. Calum is the Campbell clan leader in search of a way to save his people from devastation. Elspeth is a female destined to marry for the good of her clan. Both characters are very strong in their beliefs and are willing to fight very hard for them. The author builds the plot to show how the circumstances are created that affecting all the events. Calum is not afraid to show all his emotions and make himself vulnerable which makes him a better person. The story culminates nicely with a great family get together of happiness.

Argyll, Scotland 1360
All three MacMillan siblings had been forced into marriage with clans for strong and wealthy alliances Especially after half there clan had been slaughtered by Alexander Campbell’s Clan. A traitor who had been exiled to Ireland by the King and his castle and lands were forfeited awarded to the MacMillan clan. At least now he was dead but now they had to deal with his son Calum.
Elspeth MacMillan had been waiting in the abbey waiting for her betrothed Liam MacLachlan. A man she considered more like a brother having grown up with and she also knew he was self-centered and very spoiled by his family and clan. She had no romantic feelings and dealing with a man who was so vain and everyone coddled was not something Elspeth was looking forward to in this marriage. Unlike her brothers who both ended with love matches hers would never turn into love.
Now the Abbey Elspeth had been residing at had been attacked, as it was obvious they were looking for her to use as some sort of ransom. So she went to hide at Castle Barron where her brother Fergus and new wife Coira lived. Now she was on her way to castle Lachlan where she will meet and marry Leith MacLachlan. On the way Elspeth had a bad feeling and she was correct they were attacked by their enemies the Campbell’s . Now that Alexander was dead his son Calum was the new Laird and abducted Elspeth and brings her to Ireland. Except Calum is not the monster his father was, as he can’t even feel any remorse for his own father’s death knowing how horrible he was. This father had always criticized and abused Calum because he looked for peaceful solutions to problems to avoid war. He only abducted Elspeth to use as leverage to ease his clan’s suffering and for peace and to get his lands in Scotland returned.
Calum had heard all the rumors of how unattractive Elspeth was when she was younger, but it was obvious she had blossomed. As Elspeth MacMillan was the most beautiful woman he ever saw in his life. She also starts to understand that the Campbell’s were far from living in a palace and in luxury and were near starving living on a barren land. Calum and Elspeth start falling for each other and she wants to help his people.
Yet her brother won’t agree to peace as the Campbell’s are still attacking and killing on Macmillan land. So Elspeth starts to wonder if she’s been a fool to trust a man who really wants to kill and maim! Will Calum ever be able to convince Elspeth that his heart is pure and he truly does want peace between their two clans? Even though she is falling for a man from an enemy clan, will she marry a man that Is like a brother? Will her brother the MacMillan Laird ever accept a Campbell’s word or will he make him pay with his life for kidnapping his baby sister? Read this and find out.
I have been reading Madeline Martin since her very first Highlander debut book as an independent author. Now she’s with many publishing houses like Harlequin and I couldn’t be happier for all her success as a New York Times Best Selling Author! Madeline Martin pens another brilliant story that definitely pulled my heart strings. This is the last book in the phenomenal Highland Alliances series. Each book is interlinked with a MacMillan sibling who needs a strong clan alliance since the common enemy is the exiled Campbell clan who is attacking them. Due to Alexander Campbell’s betrayal, it is former Campbell lands that the King awarded to the MacMillan clan.
Bestselling authors Terri Brisbin, Jenni Fletcher and Madeline Martin all did a wonderful collaboration which I absolutely loved. It is filled with all the elements Scottish historical romance readers love! I have to admit I am a little melancholy now that I have finished this marvelous series. If you love a riveting, awe-inspiring, fast-paced, romantic Scottish adventure filled with deception, betrayal, mystery, suspense, passion and steaming hot romance. You definitely don’t want to miss “The Highlander's Stolen Bride” By Madeline Martin! You can read as a stand alone book but personally I highly recommend your read all three books. I am definitely happy I read all three! I can’t recommend this book or the entire series enough.

The first few pages of this had me so disappointed, because all of Madeline's books have strong women in them, not bumbling female's that don't know how to use their dagger. I should have know better! Elspeth MacMillian is a brilliantly written, strong, tough as nails lady that proves her metal, time and time again. This book had a lot of action and drama through out. One thing that has always been said about a red head is that they are passionate, and Elspeth had tons of it, whether fighting for the injustices that she saw, or loving on Calum Campbell, the sexy hero of our story, that wanted non violence and the very best care for his people. This was such am amazing story, I can't wait to read the other authors additions to the series. Thank you Madeline for such a terrific book.
Elspeth MacMillan is all fire and a force to be reckoned with but she is kidnapped we find out to help an old clan that got kicked out of Scotland due to violence from his father, the new laird is trying for peace but need a bargaining chip- in come Elspeth. Calum Campbell is the new laird and is not his father she finds out when she gets to Ireland. The chemistry with these two if off the charts, loved him teaching her to fight, showing her the village and treating her mostly as an equal. Calum is your 1300's book boyfriend. They are both willing to take on anything for their clan. Glad these two got a little happy in the end. This one has a lot of drama and war and more drama and more war, with a lot of twists and turns.
Really enjoyed this series. I devoured all 3 books and this one keep me up way past my bedtime as I just had to get that HEA. I also enjoyed getting three new authors! Can't wait for more books like this from all of them!
A braw highlander, a beautiful feisty lass and a wonderful journey to a heartfelt love!
She is on the way to an arranged marriage when she is unexpectedly kidnapped by a handsome laird. What? Oh yes, one can only dream! He is determined to bring peace to is clan and she is the bargaining tool.
She begins to have sympathy for his plight and wants to help. But their feelings begin to become so much more!
An exciting adventure as this author is famous for that brings a sigh worthy hero and a determined heroine that brings this story to a fabulous end!!
An exceptional story filled with duty, honor and love that will grab hold of you from the first paragraph and won't let go. I loved every minute of Elspeth and Calum's story and getting to know these characters and watching their story unfold and learning to trust each other. I read an Advanced copy in Exchange of an Honest review.
The Highlander’s Stolen Bride is like going into a Wonderland. I loved every minute of this book. Heroine, Elspeth is the woman I would like to be, and Hero Calum is the Lover I would like most to have. I read this story, then went back and read again a week later and enjoyed it as much as did the first time.It is full of intrigue, surprises, and romance with the most loving, tender, sweetest and sensual scenes I have read. I didn’t want to put it down for for any reason, I just had to see what happened next. I would advise everyone to read this book. The author is so talented, and I have read all of her other books, and they all excellent, best read in order. I received this ARC book, and this is my own freely given and honest opinion.
Calum Campbell is nothing like his vicious father, however he needs to prove himself to Elspeth MacMillan when he kidnaps her in order to convince her brother to negotiate peace. Elspeth believes all the Campbells are vicious, murderers and vows to fight to get away from Calum when she is taken on her way to the Lachlans. Though she is not keen to marry her betrothed, she will do anything to help her people. She soon learns that rumors are not always true and her views of what the Campells are like, especially Calum, are far from what is really accurate. Calum just wants peace between the clans and to return his people to Scotland. He will do whatever is necessary to do so, hopefully without having to fight. Unfortunately things don’t go quite as he hoped and it all goes awry for him and Elspeth. This was an extremely exciting and entertaining story that was difficult to put down once I began to read it. Thank you for the opportunity to read another one of your wonderful stories Ms Martin.
Sta a voi scoprirlo.

I don't even have words for how much emotion this book pulled from me.
Scottish highlands clan drama, although drama isn't the right word for the war that is raging around them in the countryside. Both main characters are pulled this way and that way. The side characters are meaningful, full of life and have their own established personalities. The world that is built is full of life and expressive, you can feel the energy from one environment to the next and really feel like you're entrenched in their lives.
Elspeth is fiery, fierce, vibrant in a way that I you don't see in a lot of historical fiction books. She knows exactly where she stands in things and even though her place is meant to be the proverbial kitchen she stands up for herself and for those she loves. Once she understands the situations around her, she doesn't let go of righting the perceived wrongs of those around her.
Calum is a man with true convictions, he's stuck between a rock and hard place. Fighting for his people and those he feels responsible for he does things he wouldn't normally does and even though the results aren't exactly aligned with what he had hoped he's one to roll with the punches.
Their love story is beautifully broken. Elspeth believes that she needs to do what is right by her clan and Calum is the same and they wind up spending time with one another and seeing each other as they are. Without the restrictions and requirements of those around them. It's almost disheartening the number of things they must travel through and fight against to truly be where they should be. But they make it through.
This book is a beautiful story of love and perseverance. Definitely a must read and 100% worth of five stars.
The Highlander's Stolen Bride Highland Alliances #3 Madeline Martin ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Elspeth MacMillan is on her way to her marry Leith MacLachlan. She doesn't really want to marry Leith as she feels as if he's more like a brother to her, but that's how it goes. She knows this is not a love match. Both her brothers ended up in marriages that are love matches so why shouldn't she? In her heart she knows that's what women do though, marry for alliances. As her party travels she hears noises in the woods, but none of the warriors in her party seem to care. Then out of the blue her party is attacked and she has to run from the Campbells.
Callum Campbell is the new Laird and all he wants to do is avoid bloodshed and bring peace to his people. To bring them back home to Scotland. He decides he's going to kidnapp the MacMillan lass and then bargain for peace with her brother. Things don't go easy as Elspeth is a feisty lass and doesn't go willingly. Callum expects her to be angry, but what he doesn't expect is the way this lass endears herself to him and his clan so quickly. She agrees to write a letter to send to her brother in a bid to help Callum and the rest of the clan come home.
What neither of them expected was to feel for one another the way they do. Can they make through the war with both their lives and their hearts intact?
Madeline Martin is absolutely fantastic. She took this story to a new level with the love and compasion that her characters show and feel. I felt the love coming right through the pages. This is a book that left me warm and fuzzy. The ending was absolutely amazing and I didn't see it coming the way it did. The historical aspect was spot on and this book was a real page turner. Just when I think Ms. Martin can't surprise me anymore she takes it to a new level and blows me away.
So many layer's to this story and it pulls you in from the beginning to the end. The character's are written with such depth that you felt you were experiencing their emotions right along with them.
The H's father was an evil man and killed many innocents. The H had to overcome a lot especially with everyone feeling he was a chip off the old block, but he wasn't. He wanted peace and in order to accomplish that he stole the h on her way to be betrothed to an old friend. It wasn't a love match but an alliance.
Slowly the H/h go from enemies to more. It was hard for the h to trust the H and not believe all her clan believed. I felt a connection from the start with these two so when they make love it was filled with passion. Lovemaking outside of marriage heat level 5 out of 5 and described a few times.
You will not only experience suspense, violence, twists but romance and passion. Twice during the story I had to stop reading because I knew what was going to happen and couldn't stand the tension it was causing me. But, not so....the author surprised me again - love how she does that.
No cheating, no cliffhanger, HEA, romance and steam. Even though story 3 of the series, it is a stand alone.
I received an advanced copy and all opinions are my own and freely given. (ljb)
The Highlander's Stolen Bride is the third in the Highland Alliances series but can be read as a stand alone. This is an enemies to lovers story full of heart, drama and the internal battle of duty and honor over true love. Calum Campbell just wants peace and to return to Scotland to save his dying clan while overcoming his father's evil legacy. His only solution is to kidnap Elspeth on her way to an arranged marriage that is less than desirable to her and force the clan chieftain to talk of brokering peace between the clans while allowing his clan to return from banishment. Elspeth grew up hating and fearing the Campbell clan and is willing to fight with everything she has to return to her home. However, as she witnesses the devastation that Calum's clan is suffering, she vows to help Calum gain a truce. While working together, they are also fighting their growing attraction because neither believes that the past will allow them to have a future. This is a beautifully written story that will have you engaged and entertained until the very last page.
I received an advanced reader copy from the publisher but all thoughts and feelings are my own.

An Epic Highland Story Not to Miss: Elspeth's unwanted wedding starts this very dramatic enemy to lover story off along with Calum's plan to save his clan has me totally glued to my seat from that beginning on. An epic story with continuous excitement, undeniable attraction, turmoil, a clan battle that was so intense it had me holding my breath at times. After the horrifying battle I had to stop reading and take a breather. This has to be the most intense ending, I think I have ever read. Wonderful strong likeable characters, emotionally and physically passionate scenes, with many sweet heartfelt swoon worthy moments. The way the author writes had me totally engrossed in this story. Mature Advisory😏: I did receive an advanced copy for my honest opinion. Deserves More Than 5 Stars Side note💕: This story was so good I read it in one day.
First of all, I received an ARC of this book for an honest review. I love enemies to lovers. Calum and Elspeth are the perfect enemies to lovers. Calum is raised by a wonderful mother and a horrible father. Thankfully, his mother influences him enough that he turns from his father's wickedness. However, his people are suffering. To save them he has to kidnap Elspeth to find a peaceful way to get his people back to Scotland. Elspeth is no scared lady, but no one has ever taught her to fight. She is easily overtaken, but she is granted the ability to learn to fight so that Calum can show her he is a good man. There is struggle, battles, and an almost death, but thankfully, love conquers all at the end. I really enjoyed this book and suggest you buy it!
4.5 Stars Kidnapping Elspeth MacMillan on her way to an arranged marriage is the only way for new laird Calum Campbell to avoid more bloodshed and bargain peace for his people. Calum expects her fury but doesn’t expect the feisty lass to break through his defences into his heart. This is the third book in this multi author trilogy, I haven’t read the earlier books & felt I missed out a little, so I need to go & read them as the MacMillans are certainly intriguing. This wasn’t a new trope but the author has a way of adding that little bit extra to even tried & tested tropes. The characters leapt out of the page & I loved both Elspeth & Calum, their chemistry was electric & they were perfect for each other. Their road to a HEA was strewn with obstacles but it made for an engrossing rerad which I devoured on an afternoon My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
When this story started and it became clear that Elspeth is going to be kidnapped by her sworn enemy, Calum, I admit, I was aghast. How can she fall for the guy who's been terrorizing her family for decades? However, my hat's off to the author for brilliantly showing us that the Calum we and Elspeth knew - mostly from rumors - is not at all who he really is. And kidnapping her is the only way he can prove that, a point with which we soon will agree.
I loved how the author took the reader on the same journey as Elspeth in learning the truth about the Campbells and about Calum himself. Our hearts softened together as we recognized his honor and watched him struggle to save his clan. It's a rare book that gets me so emotionally invested, so immediately. I honestly could not put this book down, and I loved every bit of it.
This is a fast-paced, action-packed romance, filled with all the drama from the previous two books and acting like a proper Act Three that ties up all the loose ends and brings a HEA to everyone involved. As a standalone it's a must-read, but I also highly recommend getting all three books and reading them together to get the entire fascinating story. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
I’m not sure the abduction trope is for me, but for those who want to read about a captor and his prisoner falling madly in love, this is the story for you. The story was rich and lush with longing, misunderstandings, action, and romance. It was very sweet and had a very satisfying ending. The hero was an interesting character with a lot of passion and strength, unfortunately the heroine wasn’t quite as interesting. I was still rooting for them! They were adorable when working together. A nice quick read! Thanks netgalley for the advance copy!
A feisty red haired lass is abducted by her clan’s greatest enemy, fearing the worst she is gradually brought to realise that Callum Campbell is nothing like his father and only wants peace. However past history, his actions in taking Elspeth and underhand attacks made in the Campbell name, mean that no one is going to peaceably listen to his version of events. Can Elspeth save the day, or will her sacrifice be in vain? I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from the author. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
A fast paced story that has well developed characters and a creative plot. Calum wants to stop the fighting and hopes taking Elspeth will get the Ross to negotiate. When Elspeth sees how hard the Campbell's life if like in Ireland, she changes her mind. Time spent waiting on an answer has them growing closer. Things don't go well when they go back to Scotland to try and reason with the Ross. The action, treachery and determination start and happiness and peace only come at the very end. Side note: it does have some steamy parts so if that isn't your thing, skip past as the story is good.
