Dan’s life was quite ordinary until the day he woke up in a hospital room, not knowing what had happened to him. Somehow he was different, very different. He was first aware of the thoughts of others. He could read them. At first his abilities were limited so he did not know of the dangers that the men sent to find him posed.
Now his life is in peril. Someone out there is trying to kidnap him so they can use his powers for their own purposes. Aliens and secret agencies are both looking for him. He must figure out who he can trust before it’s too late. He is becoming the Millennium Man.
Do you remember the uproar about Area 51 several decades ago? If so, ok. If not, jump aboard the express on Millennium Man. Get ready for a great story full of mystery, action and adventure. Graham is exceptional and a new level of story teller. Thanks for another great read.
This was a quick and fast listen. I have to say that I have mixed feelings about it. On one hand the premise and staging was so interesting and creative. On the other hand some things are not explained in depth but if you can accept that things are just the way they are then I think you will enjoy the story. I, for one do like mystery in the books I choose so for the most part I did not have a problem with it, other than a few points in the story that I will not give away. I had trouble identifying with all the characters but they were well written; because of the short length of this story the character development is also not too in depth but gives you a glimpse of each to keep your interest. I actually wish this was a full length longer story as I think there are details that are left out that would definitely only help a good plot. I would have loved to hear more about the fella who got the DUI early on in the book or the other Millennium Man as well. There is a lot to like about this book but it was just missing that one special thing to make it great. This was my first performance by this narrator. He gives unique voices to each character so telling them a part is easy enough. There is the use of some effects throughout this story. Not so much sound effects but instead perhaps props. For instance it actually sounds like a telephone call when characters are speaking on the telephone. His inflections and tone were good for the scenes and depicted exactly what I would expect the scene to. One thing I did notice, and I am not trying to be picky but the transitions between chapters sounded rushed and almost cut off. Not all of them but some chapters would just end without pause then Chapter # would be introduced in the same breath. Overall, I did enjoy this story and the performance. I just felt like it was missing that something special. It was a great premise and I enjoyed the major plot points. **I received a copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review via Audiobook Boom. This in no way affected my opinion of this book.**
The story involves telepathic communications. For normal speech, double quotation marks are used at the beginning and end of the remarks as expected. For telepathic communications, the beginning is a double quotation mark while the end is a single quotation mark. This causes confusion because the reader cannot distinguish between verbal and telepathic communications until the end of the sentence or paragraph. Additionally, there are incorrect uses of words such as: ( 1) "except" used for "accept." (2) Confusion with whether to use "a" or "an" before a word. Personally, I think the proofreader(s) for this author should be fired. While I am not an author, I am an inexperienced wordsmith. I have not done wordsmithing on a professional basis, but I have many years of informal experience writing military personnel performance reviews (aka "evals) where promotions were directly affected by the written word. I have read four books written by this author and found all of them to be good stories that need significant polishing. Imagine the difference between an old brass hand rail that is dull, dirty and lackluster from long use without any cleaning compared to the beautiful brass that is shiny and reflective after it has been thoroughly polished. Both accomplish the same function, but the polished brass shows the pride and professionalism of the polisher. This author's books have tremendous potential, but lack the polish that would make them tremendous stories.
The idea behind aliens in this book is really interesting but I felt it was a bit under developed. Considering how advanced they are their method for keeping watch really doesn't make much sense.
There is lots of action and the military aspects are interesting. I thought the characters were a bit underdeveloped but were getting there. It also ended too soon, it felt incomplete, like I'd reached half way only to find the second half missing.
I enjoyed it but felt it didn't fulfill it's potential.
The narration was good, the character voices were well done, and the delivery matched the tone of the story.
I received a free copy of this book from the author and/or narrator and/or publisher and I voluntarily wrote this honest review.
I received audiobook version of this book for free from the author in exchange for an unbiased review.
This book didn't quite impress me, as I had hoped. The premise is very interesting - a man who can suddenly read minds, being hunted by goons who want to use him for their own nefarious purposes. But as the story progresses, it sounded like the story is badly underdeveloped. The characters weren't written well and kept changing their key characteristics from scene to scene. And the climax was so rushed and ended abruptly that it felt like the book ended midway. I felt so unsatisfied.
The narration by Chuck Roberts was mostly ok, except for the female parts. His rendering of the female voice was subpar and distracting.
I enjoyed the book very much. It was entertaining with plenty of excitement and plenty of humour. The story was not dragged out and was kept concise and to the point. There were not too many characters in it - too many characters equals too complicated a plot! The whole concept was a pretty novel idea and it entertained me greatly. A proofreader would not have come amiss, however, as there were some very basic errors with grammar and vocabulary. Nevertheless, there were not a great number of errors and this did not stop me from enjoying the story and giving it a 5 star rating.
Very engaging story, I thought it was very nicely done, and enjoyed the story throughout. I think the concept was super interesting, and was well written.
I thought the narration was very good, and I would enjoy listening to more by both author and narrator.
Entertaining! Not super long and very entertaining story :) I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
I enjoyed this book a lot but wished it had been a bit longer. Things happened pretty quickly and I felt the story could have been fleshed out more. I’d even like some back story.... I received a complimentary copy of this audiobook from the publisher/author but voluntarily give my honest review.
Fast paced and interesting. Not quite as good as the last two books. This author needs someone to edit and proofread his books. I found many times having to stop and re-read and fill in or change the word or words to make sense of what I was reading. It becomes annoying. I'm not sure I want to read the next book because of this.
Audible:This book was ok.I didn't find it that interesting.Chuck Roberts was an ok narrator. Some of his voices went right through my head though. I was given this book by the narrator, author or publisher free for an honest review.
Dan is the new Millennium Man and if he doesn't want to end up like the previous ones, he needs to learn and act fast. Good idea, but seemed a bit rushed, would be interesting to see what happens next.
There is a great story in this book but it feels incomplete. It is well written, the recording needs fixing, not that it’s bad it’s just that you can hear every time that it’s edited. Beside that it’s a beautiful short story with an excellent possibility for a series. Recommended !!!
I really liked the story line. I thought it was well crafted and assembled. The characters were a bit light and I felt the writing was weak and could use some professional editing, but none of that distracted me from the interesting story. I was glad the book didn't take me on predictable chases and artificial suspense. There was a slight message to the story, but one that has been repeated many times, so this part fell a little flat. I found the ending stratifying but not shocking. I enjoyed the fact that it was one of the rare modern sci-fi themes that didn't involve the usual destruction of earth and subsequent dystopian society.
An interesting, but ultimately unsatisfying read. The pacing is OK and the book was easy to read, but I really only got vested in a few of the many characters.
