Immediately following the events of The Last Jedi, the battle for the galaxy continues between the First Order and the last of the Resistance. As the new Supreme Leader takes the throne, the First Order is focused on finding and destroying all who oppose them. The Resistance has disappeared into hiding and desperation has forced them to explore the gray areas of war. Meanwhile, on opposite sides of the war, Rey and Kylo Ren are forced to face the realities of their bond, their complicated relationship, their loyalty to their causes, and their understanding of the Force. Could their star-crossed connection be tied to the fate of the galaxy?
Maybe a 2.5? Maybe a 3? Maybe even a 4? Honestly it could be any of these but this "book" was so long that my brain has formed too many opinions to accurately give this a rating. 700,000+ words. 200+ chapters. 3,000+ pages. Now when people ask me what the longest book I've read is, I can proudly say that it was a Reylo Fanfic. Very happy about that. It cannot actually criticize this because it was a fanfic lol. Fanfics aren't supposed to be great they're just meant to entertain, and I was definitely entertained. I usually wouldn't write a review on a fanfic but since this was SO LONG and took so much of my time I feel like I am obligated to write SOME words about this just so that when in the future I look back at the longest book I've ever read, I'll know what the fuck was going through my mind. Like I said I cannot even form thoughts on this. Some parts were really good. Some parts were really bad and annoying. Overall I like what was done with the characters. The author seemed to have understood them well. There that was my attempt at giving an actual opinion. I did my best. The sad thing is that this is still a million times better than The Rise of Skywalker. I don't even know why I'm reading Reylo fanfics I stopped my ship obsession with this years ago. Is it coming back?? Wow these sentences are making no sense. I'm so tired. No thoughts. Hopefully no one except future Sarina reads this. If someone who I'm friended with comes across this review, I'm so sorry. (I'm looking at you Yazmin since I know you read these). Peace out
This was literally the longest fanfic I’ve ever read. At times I got annoyed with the miscommunication and the whining but the story was beautifully written, very well researched and the plot just came all together by the end. The foreshadowing was really strong with this one. I almost put it down about 80% in due to it being similar to the end of episode 9 but I’m glad I stuck with it.
Reread: ffs I cannot figure out why I rated this book so high the first time I read it. Deleting my original review because upon this reread...I don't know what I was smoking. I must have been in a Reylo haze, I guess. This book is just not it. It should have been 200k words, not 800k. It was literally only that long because of the pages and pages and PAGES of constant whining and repeating the same conversations over and over again. The worst part is, the concept is cool. The execution is awful. I'm mad that I forced myself through a reread. Never again.
