A Cowboy's Reunion

Rate this book

He’s still reeling from their breakup.

She’s ashamed of what she did.

Can a chance reunion mend the fence, or are some hearts forever broken?

Kane can't face running his foster family’s ranch alone. By now he'd hoped to live on the property with his wife and children, but his ex-fiancée’s betrayal threw a wrench into his dreams. Despite his anger, after he discovers his former flame down and out, he knows providing shelter is the right thing to do.

Faith Howard always dreamed of entertaining audiences with her guitar and even sacrificed a future with a good man to follow her heart. Life on the road didn’t turn out like she hoped and now she's broke and out of luck. When her ex selflessly offers help, she can't help but be riddled with guilt.

As the estranged couple recovers from the past, a friend of the family drops off two toddlers and heads for the hills. Will Kane and Faith’s new role as surrogate parents help them heal old wounds and find a second chance, or will the weight of too much baggage push them apart?

This was an enjoyable read. Kane and Faith used to date until a misunderstanding broke them apart. Faith comes back to town where she runs into Kane. He never really got over their breakup and she is reeling from some things that she had done. Thankfully by the end they both came to their senses and they got their HEA.

Faith runs away to be a musician and leaves her fiance in the dust.
Kane is working on rigs but has to come home to help his dad ranch.
Faith is on the side of the road as she has food poisoning and after she hitchhiked he dropped her off and wow Kane shows up, takes her home, lots of no talking and misunderstandings happen and boom HEA everyone is in love.
The book itself was written well. It is one of those easy reads and a HEA. Not much substance and not a lot of emotion to me. Received this book as an ARC and I wanted to give my review.

A COWBOY’S REUNION is a sweet, poignant romance. This story reflects the regret and sorrow that Faith feels for the mistakes she made in her past that hurt her and so many others, including her lost love, Kane. Two years ago, her struggle to make her own decisions in life, to pursue her love of music led her away from Kane and her grandfather, who both had other plans for her future. The way she left tore Kane and his family apart, led to his job on a oil rig instead of staying on the ranch, and now the family ranch is up for sale. Despite the hurt and mistrust between them, Kane comes to Faith’s aid when he finds her alone, sick and weary on the side of the road close to their hometown. Even knowing she doesn’t plan on staying, and the pain of her leaving still feeling fresh, Kane feels the need to take care of her. The sudden appearance of his sister’s young twins, the uncertain job future for Faith, and the reappearance of Tricia, Zane’s sister all serve to remind both Faith and Zane of the connection they once had, and the feelings that have never waned. Do they have a future together? Is this just a remnant or whisper of the past? Read this touching, beautifully written story to the discover the answers.
I received an ARC of this book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Cowboy's Reunion by Carolyne Aarsen
Family Ties Series Book One
Kane Tye has had a tough few years. Their mother died. His sister left town, and then his fiancée had left town with his brother...none of them to be heard from again. Not to mention he left his dad high and dry as well. Now he's returned to help get the ranch ready to sell. As if that isn't emotional enough...more emotional dominoes fall.

Faith Howard had made some really bad choices. Those bad choices piled up until the weight had pulled her down. She'd lost her faith. Her family. Her friends. Everything. All while following her passion...music. As she's heading to a new place...a new job...a new life—God steers her in a different direction, against her will. She ends up in the very place she ran away from.

What a great story. If you cry easily, you may want to keep the tissues handy. I went through a few of them...emotional, but in a way that shows it's a good story. Wonderful characters. It’s sort of a prodigal son story with several prodigals coming home, both to a human father and their Heavenly Father.

Kane and Faith Reunited

When a couple whose engagement ended badly two years ago meet under unusual circumstances, it must be directed by God. Faith left her fiancé and her planned future to pursue her love of music, choosing music instead of marriage. A broken-hearted Kane left his adopted home to try to heal. An unexpected situation brings them together, and old feelings resurface. But Faith carries a secret that may tear them apart. This story covered topics of abandonment, rebellion, unwanted pregnancy, physical and emotional abuse, and God’s grace that is sufficient to wipe away every sin. Great start to a new series.

A compelling start!
As the first book in this series, Ms. Aarsen is off to a terrific start. Not having read anything by this author before I was not sure what to expect. To say the least I was very pleasantly surprised. The characters were terrific and the story drew me in and kept my attention. If the ending hadn’t been so good, I would have been disappointed that it had ended.
I will be reading more by this author. Next book please!

This is one truly emotional second chance romance.💓😢💓

This is a clean, second chance romance that will pull you in and hold you until the very end. and you're going to need a hanky for parts of it. 💓😭

Kane and Faith have known each other since they were children and been in love with each almost as long. But being in love doesn't always mean things will just automatically work out... especially if you don't talk about the really important things in your life. But that's where second chances become so special. 💕💗💕

I voluntarily reviewed this after receiving a free copy.

The story-line is fresh, heartfelt and wonderful. This author always gives a great story with true values and Christian thoughts. Somewhere along the way, Faith Howard lost her beliefs, then lived a life she "thought" she wanted; and, in the end she needed to come home to find peace and happiness. She broke Kane Tye's heart by leaving with much unsaid about their relationship. I've become a fan of second chances and this book is just that. On the final page, not only is there an HEA, but it brings happiness in reading this amazing book. Thanks to the author.

3.5 stars, 1.5 heat

A Cowboy's Reunion was my first from Aarsen. I love cowboys. I love second chance romances. So I was in. And whew boy was there some drama!

The Gist: A couple years back Kane's fiance...ran away with his brother for a life on the road as a musician. Quite the surprise when he's on the way home from errands and spots her sick on the side of the road and in need of help. Definitely going to shake up his life. Shoo!

Kane and Faith were good characters. Quite damaged but doing what they can. Kane's the strong stoic type.

Strange things happen! As Zach and Kane travel back to their ranch from town, there is a young girl on the road hitchhiking. They stop and realize she is sick...but they also realize it is Kanes ex-fiancee. They finally convince her to go to the ranch with them after promising her a ride to her destination when she is feeling better.
Lots of family things going on in this book that finally turn out for the best.
Good book. Look forward to book 2 in this series.

Letting go of the past and coming home

This is a well-written and beautiful clean romance between Faith and Kane. They both made mistakes in the past but with God's intervention, they learned that coming home is the beginning of their future together. I enjoyed this book and had trouble putting it down and had to finish it. If the rest of this series is this great, I look forward to reading more books by Carolyne Aarsen.

Good story; a bit laboured in the execution

A clean Christian romance, as promised. Characters that you care about, though maybe all their difficulties are a bit too easily resolved.

There is rather too much ‘commentary’, with the main characters over-analysing each other mentally during conversations, rather than allowing the reader to become more involved through the use of descriptive writing. A better balance between show and tell would make for a more gripping novel.

This was not a bad read, but not one of my favourites. I would have like a bit more character development and less angst. I think the idea for the story is a good one (miscommunication and ergo missed opportunities), but it was just a little too emotional for me as Kane and Faith try to sort out their troubles. I did enjoy Kane's dad's character, but he was the only one to whom I really connected.

Life back on the ranch, can you ever go home again?

A fascinating story, characters who are dealing with the effects of their choices, good and otherwise, family and friends. This is a book worth reading, characters worth getting to know. Another really good book from Carolyn Aarsen.

Wow! Great book.

I loved this book so much I never put it down till it was completed. How many of us have experienced pain from past mistakes, only to know that through God's blessings of grace, we are forgiven. Great characters and I can't wait till the next book in this series comes out.

Forgiveness

Faith was passing through on her way to Calgary not expecting to see her ex. Kane was home helping his grandfather fix up the ranch to sell. Little did they both know that forgiveness is easy but being separated it so much harder.

I liked how there was so much reconciliation in this book. I liked that Faith was strong enough to say no to other people's dreams for her even though her choices to complete that dream were wrong. I like that forgiveness was focused on and given. I liked the love story between Kane & Faith.

Forgiveness for self

Kane and Faith’s story is one of acceptance of God’s grace. Their journey back to each other was troubled but God’s plan was fulfilled as they reconnected with God and then each other.

Conflicting. That is how I feel about A Cowboy's Reunion.

It is a story of a Tye family legacy; and it is more than just the sprawling ranch. As all his children, both adopted and his own, have fled the ranch, Zach has put it up for sale. Which brings Kane home. Circumstances force Faith, Kane's ex-fiancee, to stay at the ranch as well, which leads to unearthing a lot of feelings and events from their past.

On one hand, I see a well-written, solid story line with so many appealing scenes. I love the theme of redemption, of prodigals coming home, of restoration, of learning from mistakes. There's so much encouraging, uplifting, inspiring dialogues and scenes. Totally worthy of five solid stars.

And, yet, on the other hand, the family drama felt a bit overwhelming. I felt repelled from rather than drawn to the characters. Despite hope-filled scenes, the overall mood was rather gloomy for me. I also think the violence committed against the women in this book got more or less brushed over and not addressed enough.

But it could be, I was just not in the right frame of mind to read this story. Who knows.
A Cowboy's Reunion is a deep and serious story of second chances not only for the main characters, but a number of secondary ones as well.

A Cowboy's Reunion - This may be my first read by this author and I love her writing style. This clean, second chance romance is a delightful read. It is wonderful to read a story that does not contain the stupid "modern" version of females that mistreat men and disrespect themselves.

All the characters are decent people doing the best they can. They learn their lessons and do not follow the silly head games theme that so common nowadays. God plays an important role in the lives of everyone, even the ones who left Him behind and lost th egg or self-confidence.

The author weaves an intriguing, detailed fabric richly blending the characters, the locations and the emotions into a mesmerizing tale of love, family and the power of faith. 5*

A painful past revisited

Kane Tye had his future with Faith Howard all planned out but her dreams of a music career didn’t mesh with a life on his family ranch. When their engagement ended and she left town, Kane left the ranch and went to work in the oil fields. Now he is back long enough to reluctantly help his father sell the ranch and in a twist of fate, or maybe faith, circumstances have dumped Faith on his doorstep. Their lives have not turned out as planned but they may have a second chance.

This is a beautiful second chance romance. Kane and Faith deserve happiness. I liked their journey of forgiveness and faith.

I think my favorite character may have been Zach. His steadfast love through family trauma would be a beacon home to his biological daughter and adopted sons no matter where they find themselves. His love extended to Faith, the runaway fiancée of adopted son, Kane. The story is of choices made in our lives and the consequences and hurts that follow until we allow God to heal those hurts and point out a better path. Lots of twists in this story and two very sweet children, Cash and Hope.
