This book had 3 recorded real sati incident happened in Nepal. Gives a small hint that, the earth now is the result of evolution rather than the gods as we are made believed, it deciphers the act of some rishis, Mahabharat, Krishna (how krishna's wife were sent to sati) and even highlights buddha, to question if sati system existed at his era (because there is no any discussion of this system in his memoirs or teachings), whether the mahabharata or the scriptures were fictional. However, talking about Nepal, this book explains sati system practices on different regions of Nepal, Sati system was introduced from Rajasthan, India.
The new fact for me was :
1.this custom was heavily practiced during malla period, total of 33 members went to sati when a king died. It had became the demonstration of status that the more people are sent to sati the more good it is.
2.Tirahutiya brahaman fled from India to Nepal, Malla considered them as a part of the system and how taleju bhawani was introduced as their goddess.
3. Only Royals practiced this , later spread to brahmin and Chhetris as a fashion. Janjatis and other caste were devoid of this culture, howsoever, there are few incident that gurung people followed this.
4. Not only female but Male workers were also sent to sati termed as satu.

I cannot write more, because it has many stories and facts.

Sati Custom was one of the most heinous cultural practices that ever existed in the world. Just imagaine, women were cremated alive with husband's dead body.

Many cultural practices throughout development of human civilization have done nothing but oppression against humans themselves.
