Suitable for young adults interested in fantasy and magic. Very short, well written and recorded. Only problem I had was when narrator was the underground dragon - narrator basically whispered and I found it a little hard to follow.

One person in the community has somehow worked enough magic to be able to water his crops and keep them alive.

Jealousy spreads throughout his community. Even giving away all his crops is not enough. His only chance at safety is to reduce his own rarity. He must rebuild magic and make it common again.

But he soon discovers something more ancient lurks below the surface, ready to feast.

3.5* this book was interesting but very short. I enjoyed it but the flow felt a little off for me. It was an interesting idea with characters that really learnt but left me with more questions as to the world and how it became this way. Some of the descriptors were overused but it did not stop me enjoying the story. Magic is disappearing and food is short but honestly it is misunderstandings, self preservation and could have benefited from being just a notch longer. Still an interesting use of water magic.

A wizard has the power to create water and uses it ti raise enough food to give away to the villagers.
Another villager tries to learn his secret, and both get portaled to an underwater region in which a dragon lives. Th dragon eats magic and wants them to send magicians to it. The story ends with them planning what to do.

If you like short stories about magic and discovering yourself this might be for you. I lessoned to this on a audiobook and i like how the readers changes per the characters . I don't lesson to audiobooks often but this one keeped my attention. There is a strong main character who despite anything thrown at him never gives up and stays strong.
