Broken Alphas #2

The Omega’s Mates

Rate this book
Loved. Bonded. Omega.

Two of my fated mates have accepted me, but our pack is fractured. Wild will never claim me, Kaan’s rejection is still killing me, and we’re an easy target for our enemies.

If we’re going to stand a chance against the cruel master pack, we have to present a united front. If my wolves don’t accept me, the pack will kill all of us. Their alpha is the woman who abused Draven, and her vendetta is deadly and personal.

It’s not just us she hates, but our baby, too. If we don’t stop her, she’ll sacrifice our child to her dark wolf god and slaughter the men I love.

Broken Alphas is a rejected mates paranormal romance series, with fated mates, four vicious, passionate alphas who badly need love, and a vulnerable omega in desperate need of protection. It also features a pregnancy, and alpha/omega elements, so if you’re not a fan of either, this might not be the book for you.

This had the same rushed feeling that the first book did but was maybe a little worse because it was supposed to give some closure and that just didn't happen for me. Everything felt very jumbled and some parts didn't make much sense since they were over so quick.

I really enjoyed this series. The Omegas Mate is the final book in the Broken Alphas Duet series. Everything comes to a head for Nixette and her Mates: Kaan, Bakkhos, Wild and Draven. Pregnant and on the run Nixette main focus is her unborn child and her mates.

In book 1 it was mentioned that she needed to be mated to all 4 of her mates but at that time only 2 actually mated with her (Bakkhos and Draven), Kaan and Wild were still scared to take the chance because of how dangerous they truly were. Nixette continued to break down the barriers surrounding her mates and was able to claim Kaan but Wild wouldn't budge. Wild was the cruelest of her mates but she could feel within their matebond that he truly cared about her but was simply afraid to let down his guard.

With the danger of Draven and Bakkhos old packs fast on their heel Nixette and her mates faced danger at every turn. Nixette was a strong heroine. Not only did she give birth to a heathy baby boy but within minutes she was back on her feet ready to go help save her mates (the perks of rapid werewolf healing).

Loyalties were put to the test and the foundation of their mate bonds were shaken but in the end LOVE was the real winner. The stakes were high and they were outnumbered by many but one thing held true for the Broken Pack and that was anything worth having wouldn't come easy. Love, Family and Loyalty were worth fighting for and in the end Nixette and her 4 mates found their HEA.

The Omega's Mates is the final book in the Broken Alphas duology by Leigh Kelsey. The story was fast-paced with lots of action and drama. There was a lot, a comatose pregnant omega, traumatized alphas, packs hunting people, abuse, trauma, truly evil shifters, a goddess and so much more.

Nixie and the guys have all had their trauma and have been through a ton of things together and have formed a bond. In the first book, The Omega's Wolves, Kaan had issues revolving around having a mate, those get resolved pretty early but then Wild is an issue. Wild, is a combative jerk who likes to keep people at arm's length and Nixie's reaction to him is a little strange for an omega but they have to work through their issues as well. However, being hunted all the time may have added stress but it also bonds people in unbreakable ways. More of Wild's and Draven's pasts are revealed and Nixie is really starting to realize how they all have their issues but can make it through together. Nixie really had to bring out her stubborn side to deal with all these alphas but there were some really sweet moments and a lot of steamy ones.

As for the story, it feels a little rushed and not as smooth as I would have liked but it was still interesting. The goddess Luneste was interesting and more involved in this one, her plan is finally clearer. What's not clear is why are there all these packs thinking it's okay to sacrifice their people to gain power and Luneste's favor. There was a good look into the packs that were chasing them and that was a dark place to be. These shifters didn't behave as packs have, there seem to be some kind of darkness within them, it wasn't normal. Something occurred but I don't understand how it happened and it wasn't really explained. The best part about the story, the guys dealt with their trauma, formed a stronger bond with Nixie and their pack got their HEA. Overall it was a pretty easy read. The story was entertaining and went fairly quickly, a one-sitting kinda read if you got the time.

The Omega's Mates may have had some issues but overall Leigh did a good job wrapping up Nixie's story. Besides this duology, I have only ever read two other books by Leigh, a duology. I have no idea what Leigh has planned next but I am interested in checking it out.

I DNF’d this book at 75% when their (hours old) newborn baby was kidnapped and put in the hands of someone who wanted to mutilate and sacrifice him.

That’s a hard limit for me. I literally closed the book, and DNF’d it that instant. There is absolutely no way I can stick around to read anything about what happens next.

Side note: This author obviously knows nothing about pregnancy. The things she was writing were ridiculous. Our FMC was having sex flat on her back at full term. I can’t tell you how much time she spends on her back. She even sleeps on her back! That’s not only practically impossible due to discomfort, but it’s also dangerous; it can cut off blood flow to the baby.

Good sequel. I really enjoyed the action and development of the characters’ relationship. It did feel a little rush but that’s a me problem here.

Many of the problems I had with the first book were improved here mainly because I didn’t see any 180° in anyone’s personality this time. And it’s actually a real relief that the author didn’t try to sell me a perfect HEA. As a reader I’m always looking for it but as a person I’m fully aware it wouldn’t have made sense after everything they’ve been through. I really liked that ending and all the growth they experienced.

Good writing and an entertaining story. Job well done !

The Omega’s Mates by Leigh Kelsey is a rejected mates paranormal romance. This is the second book in the Broken Alpha's series.

This is the second book of Leigh's that I have read, and it won't be my last. She did a great job wrapping up their story. I really enjoyed the relationship that bloomed between Nixette, Wild, Draven, Kaan, and Bakkhas. I loved that we got all of their points of views in this book.

I would recommend this series if you like rejected mate's romances or paranormal romances.

What a strong shewolf! She really is a badass, She has 4 very strongwilled werewolfs as mates, so that is saying a lot and on top of that 2 of them didn't want to join her harem( don't worry they were just afraid, not unwiling) but She eventually got them all to join and made a powerfull unit. They had so many enemies, if they didn't join they would not live to tell the tale. It is a very fitting end for the duet.

Good storyline. Nice character development. World development could have been a little better. I struggle to get a sense of their world. Slow burn. I would not call it a dark romance. There is violence. All in all it was a good duet. 🔥🔥🔥🔥/5

Last Book for These MCs

It really seems like when I want to sum it all up that not a lot happened but the personal growth was HUGE in this book. I'll bullet point a few things and then swing back around.

•Draven and Kaan get kidnapped by Daphne
•Nixie, Wild and Bakkhos deliver their baby
•A handful of side characters (who seem like they have their own story) are introduced by way of force from Luneste to help our Broken Alpha pack
•Draven has ties to Daphne that run deeper than they thought and almost causes them to lose their baby
•Big battle ensues
•Good guys pull out the win for the HEA

Okay, BUT! The best part of the story is the guys getting out of the shadows of their past. Kaan, who needs a realization that he needs his earns turned on more often. Draven who really, really needed his ex-mate killed to feel secure in all things requiring living and breathing. Wild, oh my Wild. Wild was so locked up mentally, emotionally and physically, because of the abuse he went through in his past that he had a hard time turning the corner with Nixie. It took him all the way until the end of the book to lock in the claiming bites but big daddy Wild finally opened himself up to Nixie and it was the absolute sweetest growth in both of the books. The way he refused to let go of the baby was the swooniest dang thing.

The only person I was "meh" about in book 2 was Nixie. She wanted to run right out and throw herself into danger to rescue her mates and her child but during the battle she was like...a half dud. She had a few good moments but then was so worried about everyone she spent a lot of time just looking around for people. They won anyway but the MVP was Bakkhos.

Welp, this is the end of the line for Nixie, Kaan, Bakkhos, Wild and Draven as the main characters. There is a future mission laid out for them by Luneste at the end involving a new broken pack with her magic so it sounds like maybe they'll be side characters in the new story.

The fine print stuff:
📌Multi-POV
📌Contains one MMF bit (mild hot sauce level graphic)
📌Brief references to past SA/R on MMC
📌Mention of cutting, bleeding dry and eating a baby (single explanation of what their enemies will do if they capture the baby)

These are zero bigs but there were also a couple of red marker things I can remember:
-someone says "the 3 of us" when there are 4 involved
-someone says "the 4 of us" when there are 5

two stars is SUPER generous

This book was really hard to finish. I found myself picking it up and putting it down multiple times. I felt like there were so many thoughts/tropes that were put into this that it didn’t feel fully completed and hashed out. I felt like there was more time spent setting the stage for other books to be made in this world than on making this book understandable/readable. A decent amount of typos and misspellings. The whole “alpha of alphas” kaan, didn’t feel like he lived up to his title at all. Their goddess called him that and he legitimately had no special powers, didn’t exude BDE, almost killed them with his bad decisions, honestly I don’t recall him mating her in this book. If he did, it was completely unmemorable.

That was another plot hole/ unfinished part- Luneste made the comment in order to make it to sanctuary and for her to survive the pregnancy she needed to mate all four. The epilogue was her finally sealing the deal with Wild 6 months after.

This book was just a clusterF of ideas that were never explained or delved though. No real plot, no explanation of setting, no real idea about these “mega packs”. I’m still trying to understand how her dad, a guy who would rather let his pack die off due to food scarcity, and would rather waste away in what was made to feel like a barren wasteland, how he would team up with other packs to get his daughter back to sacrifice….again….idk it wasn’t believable, dude can’t muster the energy to survive as is how does it make sense that he makes nice with the other packs….? The characterization was pretty bad, this felt like a draft- a draft that needed to go through several cycles of drafts then have alpha readers look through, then a professional editor. Then beta readers. Idk I really didn’t think this book was super steamy, and I felt like the word slick was so overused, everything was always soaking… idk this was honestly, just bad.

The Omega’s Mates: Broken Alphas 2
by Leigh Kelsey

TLDR: This is the second and final book of this series. It is a very short series for Leigh Kelsey’s books. I enjoyed the story, the sex scenes are fun and hot, there was a good amount of suspense, and enough character information that the emotions and relationships feel authentic. I recommend reading this book.

ARC: I was given this book for free in exchange for an honest review. I have also purchased this book.

Release date: March 20, 2022

Technical stuff: This story is a paranormal (shifter) Omega-verse rejected mates reverse harem. The book makes use of all the tropes without being “over the top” and too far into implausibility. There is explicit sex in the story line, as well as NSFW language, but neither strikes me as being particularly gratuitous. There is violence (not a lot, but enough to make this warning reasonable) which may be triggering for some, esp. those who have suffered either child or domestic abuse. Again, like the sex and NSFW, the violence does not feel gratuitous. If these bother you, then perhaps this isn't the book for you.

The story is told in limited omniscience third person, from several people's perspectives. There isn’t a cliff-hanger ending in the overarching story line. The "immediate" story is resolved within this book, the second of a duet. (Leigh Kelsey does like to have cliff-hangers until the final book; you’ve been warned.) Although it can be read as a stand-alone book, I don’t recommend you do so. So much of the backstory is necessary that significant nuance and character understanding may be missing if you have not read The Omega’s Wolves.

The book is written using “UK English” where some words are spelled differently (ex: storey, tyre), or may use a different word to represent the same idea (ex: “torch” vs “flashlight”). These are not typos, and do not interfere with the enjoyment of the story.

*PREVIOUS BOOK * You will want to read the Omega’s Wolves, which is the first book of this duet.

Opinions and overview of story (with minimal/no spoilers):
Leigh’s world-building is excellent and internally consistent; characters are well written. While they are not 2-dimensional, they also do not have “classic literature” character development. This is a fun read, with humor, suspense, romance and sexy times.

I definitely enjoyed the story, the sex scenes are fun and hot, characters are developed enough that the personal struggles, emotions and relationships feel authentic. I recommend reading this book.

The past meeting the present is a major theme in this book, creating struggles and bringing old enemies into the picture even more. It was interesting to see what characters thrived in getting vengeance and which ones were forced to succumb to old habits. Trauma affects people differently, pushing them forward to strengthen them for the future, pulling them backwards and making it difficult to live regularly, making it so that the point of view is so drastically changed they don't know what is real and what is a lie, just for a few examples. You see some of this in Nixie and her men in this book as a lot more of their pasts come to light. They are the Broken Pack for a reason.

I have to say that Wild was probably my favorite thing about this book. His character growth was amazing and even though the snarky back and forth was still there between him and Nixie, you could tell that he cared or wanted to be able to care for her. The small acts that he did throughout the book showed how much effort he truly put into making sure Nixie and the pack were safe. He thought of things that not even Kaan did as alpha, he sided with Nixie when she knew she had to make a tough decision, and he straightened her thinking out when she went to dark places. It's the little things that really added up to me.

I liked the way that Kelsey ended this duet, closing off Nixie's story happily, yet leaving some things open with a few of the newer characters that were introduced and giving hope for future books involving Luneste and those she chooses to grace with her magic. I look forward to eventually reading more books in this world.

Leigh has a way of pulling you into her characters turmoil that has you completely invested in their journey and that's exactly what she does with the broken pack.

Nix's emotions take the ride of her life in this book she finally bonds with Kaan and her most challenging mate Wild. She is challenged by her circumstances, Mates and the goddess, who will she follow, which is the right path? She makes hard decisions based on what's best for the baby and it was good she did even if those decisions fractured the pack and left them open to their nightmares.

Draven is all heart for such a big guy he is still so broken and thus easily manipulated by his old toxic, fake mate. He is emotionally and physically destroyed throughout but we get a glimpse at his dark history. Kaan finally owns his feelings and his fears and bonds with Nix but is still head strong to the point where it puts everyone at risk. Bakkos bless his crazy heart loves Nix so fiercely he is put under immense pressure by the constant imminent danger his pack and mate are in he reaches breaking point the question is can he be brought back from the darkness. Wild has walls built around walls to protect his heart but we see them slowly crumble when he takes care of his mate and listens to her concerns. We see the depth of his connection with Bakkos and how alpha he really can be.

This book breaks each character almost completely, but after their agony they begin to heal, grow and love. Its an emotional ride along with this broken pack from the beginning, I'm glad they finally got their HEA

Same feelings as Book 1 - it's fine.

I think a lot could have been more fleshed out with the various plot points, especially the guys' pasts. Luneste and her sanctuary remain a little bit of a mystery? Like, you'd like people would have heard about it. And basically of the pack politics goes out the window when they just merge into a superpack because of one crazy bitch alpha.

I've said it in other reviews, and I'll say it again: I hate when romances have babies. The covers obviously lean towards her being pregnant, but it's just kinda boring to read about? She was uncomfortable like 90% of the story. And annoying. Not an interesting read.

Also, Nix is stupid. I still don't get the logic of leaving the shack right now instead of waiting until morning. What difference did it make? We never find out if it was truly necessary. Similarly, if the pack was truly on the run, they spent a lot of time at hotels/camping. You have 5 adults - you shouldn't need to stop at all. Just swap drivers and keep going! But, I guess this would nullify most of the tension in the plot, soo..

Smut is about the same as Book 1

Thing that bugs me: Why is Kaan so special - an alpha of alphas - if it... doesn't mean anything? I mean, he's super ultra weak after getting tranq'd / held in a dungeon for like... what, a day? Physical fatigue is a thing, of course, but I don't understand how that translates to a growl not working and him losing all of his alpah-power.

We also get tons of new characters that feel like blatant setups for spinoffs. Not a fan

THE OMEGA'S MATES: A Rejected Wolf Paranormal Dark Romance (Broken Alphas Book 2) is the 2nd book of the Duet. After reading all the pain they've been through, but they were now free to live happy-ever-after in the end. Believe me it's hard to believe it will end well till you all read it for yourselves.

Nixette, or Nix for short, has been told by the goddess Luneste, after being saved by her from dying by being stabbed to death by her own father & brothers, that she would be returned to her former life. For her own safety she must run to find the broken pack and the alpha of alphas. She was fated to be theirs and they would protect her. Nix ran as far and fast as she could to try and reach the cottage, they lived in. Before she reached the cottage, she was found by one of the broken pack.

Nix had found a home and protection with the four psycho broken alphas. There was obsessive Bakkhos, tortured Draven, cruel Wild and the alpha of alphas the commanding leader Kaan. Three of her wolves wanted to claim her and were very determined. When Kaan is so stubborn and says he will be her alpha only, but not ever her mate. His rejection will be the end of them all. If she can't convince him to claim her, they were all going to die! It will endanger their unborn baby, too!

Great Ending of this series

I really enjoyed this book. Lots happened. There was a few chapters of the mens povs, which was incredible. It’s always so interesting reading how someone thinks, and it all makes sense. Reading about how some are crazy, others are complete alpha holes… others are sweet teddy bears, or the standoffish one. Im not surprised she was ill because of someone else. I wouldn’t have said anything either… altho it would have been nice that he grovelled longer… the fmc was very very forgiving. She lets many insults roll off her like she didn’t feel the hurt inside. She’s a better woman than I am that’s for sure. I liked how the main fighting part started closer to 60% and the part near the end segued into a spin off series of this one. I feel like the conclusion needed more, but they periodically killed off some of the bad guys near the beginning of the book. Glad it all worked out for them.

Angsty and Gritty Duet!
Amazing writing here, you genuinely don’t know throughout whether the Broken Pack are actually going to make it through together! They might just be too damaged 😬
With guidance from Luneste Will the pack be able to put aside their differences and personalities to heed the warnings and make it to the supposed sanctuary? Especially in time for Nixie to be giving birth?!
Nixie is way ahead of her men in her character, although she does have trauma and the odd confidence slip, she is definitely the one holding them together! There’s some character growth for all of her alphas…..a certain one in particular takes it right to the very end!! 😳 But they are willing to fight for each other and fight they have too!
An epic ending to a great omegaverse duet 😁

Just as Good or better than the first book

This book had a lot more action and outside characters and most of them not very nice. I loved the dynamics between Nix and her alphas. I loved that she was a different type of omega and so fierce. She stood up to the alphas and held her own!
Here's hoping that Fasion gets his own story. I really enjoyed this series. And way to go Wild. Loved you in this book, just took his time to come around!
Highly highly recommend. Buy both books.

A bit surprised at the rating of this book, 2 stars is as high as I could go. The writing was okay, and I think there were some good possibilities/ideas here, but oh boy the plot holes and lack of good smut was glaring. My biggest issue? Kaan is the "Alpha of Alphas" and it means literally nothing. He isn't strong, he gets beat up for like a minute and can no longer do anything, in fact he can barely walk or see, it's weird. Also like, why are all these packs now one big pack? It's just makes no sense. There are better omega stories out there folks.

RH Series Omegaverse

I so very much loved this final book and series.

Wild is my favorite character because he was the most stuborn and had a crazy ass personality that made me laugh and want to strangle him all at the same time.

Kaan, Raven and Bakkhos are also unique apha with their own personalities and history but Nix is their omega and she makes them sane. As their relationship grows so does the danger and the hot as Hades chemistry!

This series and book had a fantastic storyline and a wonderful HEA!

This book was a lot better than the first book in the series. The sex scenes were more believable and the whole tone of the book was more gripping, in that you could not predict whether the pack would be able to surmount all their problems and get to the land promised by Luneste. The book does have a satisfying end.

The freebie you are offered at the end of the book details how the different pack members react (including Bakkhos) when Bakkhos takes Nix to his bedroom. I thought that this should have been incorporated in the first book rather than being a separate book in its own right.

Omega Mates is the second book of the Broken Alpha’s duet by Leigh Kelsey. Nixette’s story with her mates starts where we left off in book one. Nixie is in a coma following the events of the last book and must wake up to save herself and her mates to continue their journey. I love Wild in this book his snark and denial but finally comes to his senses. This book is full of twists and turns and keeps a great pace with plenty of action to keep you turning pages!

Another great series from one of my favourite authors Leigh Kelsey ! I have liked all her books and this one included great Finish and I like how it ended .. there could be more .. maybe side characters books ! I have to say I like all the guys but I think Wild is the best so unhinged and crazy yet lovable In His own way especially towards the end ! I read this book straight through as I wanted to know how it ended !

Oh my goodness, this was SO good. A great conclusion to this duet! What a journey of growth for all of our characters here. They all had to face the demons of their pasts, and adjust to being a complete pack.

This book definitely tugged at my heartstrings a few times, but I couldn't put it down. Incredible story.

(I do hope to see more in this universe! Maybe other's the Moon Goddess helps?! We shall see!)

Okay

The plot held my attention enough to complete the duet, and I loved how each of the guys were broken but still unique and reacting to Nix in a different way. There were some inconsistencies throughout (like her pants changing from jeans to sweatpants within a paragraph) and a couple of plot points that seemed to just get dropped rather than utilized which made the series 3 stars rather than 4

Review of both books

Premise was ok, characters individually could have been more interesting if the books spent a little more time on their backgrounds and experiences especially in the 2bf book rather than it all being about the FMC and mainly her POV only.
The development in the first book was super fast even for someone who likes instalove.
Generally wasn’t a bad book/series but it didn’t capture me enough that I ended up skimming the major of the filler

The Omega’s Mates gives us the fitting end to Nixie’s story. This book was a rollercoaster of emotions as Nixie and her mates are on the run and looking for the goddess Luneste’s sanctuary. Will the Broken Pack that each member is a bit broken be able to fight to finally be happy? This was a fantastic story and I am happy to have read and know Nixie’s story.

What a beautiful ending to the duo books. You start off right at the end of the 1st book and you get back story and more detailed information on the mates and the choices they made in book 1. I was intrigued and on the edge of my seat during my reading.

Would recommend this duo to anyone who loves mates who grovel and a fmc that finally understands her worth and power.
