Badane osoby - mężczyźni i kobiety - mówiły pod wpływem hipnozy, że „utaczano” im materiał genetyczny. Wiele kobiet powiedziało, że istoty pozaziemskie pozbawiały je płodu, a później pokazywały „maleńkich potomków” - nie były to jednak istoty ludzkie, lecz „jakieś mieszańce”. Czasem całe rodziny wywabiano na dwór „dziwnymi światłami”.
W nielicznych przypadkach istoty pozaziemskie wchodziły nawet do stojących samotnie domów jednorodzinnych. Ofiarom nie sprawiano bólu. [...] Paru mężczyzn, którym na genitalia założono „coś gumowego”, czuło „jakby ruchy ssące”. Niekiedy mężczyźni byli stymulowani erotycznie przez „bardzo piękną kobietę”, która stosowała „pozycję jeźdźca”. Eksperymentatorami były zawsze „istoty niewielkiego wzrostu” o wielkich, czarnych oczach.

Erich Anton Paul von Däniken (1935–2026) was a Swiss author of several pseudoscientific books which made claims about extraterrestrial influences on early human culture, including the best-selling Chariots of the Gods?, published in 1968. Däniken was one of the main figures responsible for popularizing the "paleo-contact" and ancient astronauts hypotheses.

The ideas put forth in his books are rejected by virtually all scientists and academics, who categorize his work as pseudohistory, pseudoarchaeology, and pseudoscience. Early in his career, he was convicted and served time for several counts of fraud or embezzlement, and wrote one of his books in prison.

Už delší dobu jsem si chtěl pro rozšíření obzorů přečíst něco od Ericha "v minulosti nás navštívili mimozemšťané" Danikena. Poslední dobou jedu hlavně v audioknihách, takže volba místo nejznámějších "Vzpomínek na budoucnost" padla na "Šok z bohů".

První část je docela zajímavá a člověk by jí i věřil :))). Daniken přichází s hypotézou, že když se moderní civilizace setkala s domorodci, ti ji brali jako bohy a popisy redukovali na svůj známý slovník (lodě dobyvatelů byli obří nebeští ptáci atp.). Když pak v Bibli a indických védách nacházíme popisy létání, určitě to znamenalo návštěvu z vesmíru.

V druhé části se věnuje UFO v současnosti a... tady to jsou z mé pozice skeptika bláboly. Celé se to opírá jen o výpovědi svědků, důkazy a argumentace jsou dost chatrné. Manželé Hillovi třeba určitě mluvili pravdu, protože manželka v hypnoze načrtla přesnou mimozemskou mapu vesmíru (kdyby si to chtěli vymyslet, vůbec by si nepřipravili nějakou krycí historku, což?). Ty Vzpomínky si třeba někdy dám, ale s tímhle autorem zatím končím.

Věřím, že některé konspirace jsou překonány, ale rozhodně to má hlavu a patu. Jak je vidět tak s fakty a informacemi pracují krom historiků i spisovatelé. Zajímavé historky i jejich výklad. Velmi zajímavá kniha, která mě bavila a je napsána velmi poutavě. Je to pro mě první kniha, kterou napsal Erich von Däniken a rozhodně není poslední.

I got this book by a random chance, in a pile of old books that I got from someone. Before reading I knew that this person is controversial and scientific community is critizing him, but I was curious anyway. After few chapters I gave up. This is unfortunately gibberish mixed with some facts about ancient cultures.

The author is stating that ancients knew how to create airplanes that could do impossible things. One of the proofs is "Vaimānika Shāstra". I checked it quickly on Wikipedia and read some articles in other sources, and it becomes clear that it's not a proof. It's widely debunked. By the way, take a look at Wikipedia entry about this "Vaimānika Shāstra" and check the illustration of this supposedly ancient planes. They look like if someone combined a bird with a building.

Next he is showing us the similarities between the Bible and Popol Vuh, some sacred book of Maya people. And posing a question why there are so many similarities between religions of the world, why they describe the same thing. It must be true then! It was aliens! Well, as you can quickly check it turns out that:

"By the time Popol Vuh was written, the Maya Guatemalans had already been exposed to Christianity"

So it's a no brainer that Popol Vuh shows similar topics as the bible, since Maya people have been influenced by the bible most probably and just put their twist on that.

After noticing few lies and manipulations like that, I stopped reading because this book can't be read even as an entertainment. It does shows you some information about ancient cultures and history, but if you have book spiked with so many lies, it is better to learn from other sources or even don't learn at all, rather than risk accepting as a fact something that is a lie and is laughed at by historians.

I have problems to find proper folder for this book full of "revealing" theories, which was very enjoyable to read, but that was all. I read Czech translation of the original Der Götter-Schock. Author was brooding about the old cults and was searching the influence of creatures in flying machines on ancient cultures. Proving that some myths have logical and very technical background. Well, anything could be said about those myths and if you put it in to fancy book one would almost take it. It was an interesting reading, but it was something that I would read only once then forget about it.
