This book is probably a MUST READ. I can't believe it sat on my book shelves for so long. It might be hard now to find. It has everybit as much as the Teaching of the Prophet Joseph Smith and more. It only has a couple of questionable quotes. Most of it came from the Documentary History of the Church but differs in that is organized by "subject" rather than time period. If nothing else get a copy of the King Follett Discourse and "taste" that for a while!

I was a bit surprised to see all the five stars. I guess once I popped open this book, I realized it was more of a reference book to me than anything else. It felt like I was reading a quotation dictionary, so I ended up skimming. I guess for those who love reading history and doctrine or who aren't familiar with Latter-day Saint beliefs, this book could be really fascinating.

I think this book is useful for writing a talk and will keep it on the shelf.

Discourses of the Prophet Joseph Smith was insightful, fascinating, and spiritually deepening. The information in the book ranged anywhere from multiple points of gospel doctrine, the status of David's spirit, maxims of the the Prophet, as well as revelations. It makes my desire to begin collecting the Joseph Smith Papers even greater! A must read!

I have had this book in my study for years and finally read it. I read it slowly and savored this book of doctrine and procedure as taught by Joseph Smith.
