Hannah Hickok and Cooper Wyatt are newly engaged and ready to celebrate. Cooper just didn’t think the celebration would involve a hike to a long-abandoned boom town called Blackridge. He had something more romantic in mind. Despite that, he agrees … and believes the trip will be fine, right up until they stumble across a homeless man warning them away from their destination. Hannah tries talking to him but the man is out of it, to the point where she recognizes he needs medical help. They manage to call the local sheriff to provide that help, but when the team he brings to carry the individual out of the valley crosses the Blackridge border, a wave of magic ricochets back and knocks Hannah for a loop. She recovers quickly, but there’s a question as to what happened. Once back in Casper Creek, that question becomes a concern. It seems the ghostly shadow that appeared in Blackridge at the time it fell more than a hundred years before is back, and now he’s focused on Hannah. The dark man is more than a ghost. He’s more than a shadow. He’s a monster who can straddle two worlds. He needs Hannah to lift the curse that has kept him trapped for a century, and he’s more than willing to threaten those she loves to make it happen. A new sort of terror has come to town, and Hannah has no idea how to fight him. She’s a strong witch, but she’s also a new witch, and when this battle lands on her doorstep, it’s going to be a doozy. Buckle up, because it’s going to be a bumpy ride.
this is and entertaining paranormal urban fantasy/cozy mystery series
This is an entertaining Supernatural cozy mystery/urban fantasy series. Hannah Hickok is a witch who owns a small cosplay town on the top of a mountain in Kentucky. The mountaintop is actually a magical nexus or at least it used to be. You will have to read all the books to find out the different aspects. Anyway Hannah inherited the town from her grandmother who is also a witch. She has a whole town full of employees that come up and entertain the public with gun fights and other historical premonitions. She has a couple of other which is at work for her and a number of other people that know about the supernatural. There are also other supernatural‘s around the area and a few that show up to visit on occasion. Read on and find out the adventures that Hannah and the gang must confront to save their town in the area from evil once again. A very entertaining and fun series to read. Check it out
References to events like the changelings are absolutely accurate because it's in one of the Ivy Morgan series. Definitely worth checking out Hart's other series and making sure you don't miss out on the crossover tales!
This time Hannah has finally persuaded Cooper to head out for a hike to Blackridge, a real abandoned township. They are not there long before a shabby old man appears and tells them that they will die if they don't leave. Before he can say much more he passes out and Hannah and Cooper have to call for medics to help rescue him. As they all leave the boundary of the township he declares that they will all die and a wave of magic blasts through the whole place.
Unbeknown to Hannah her powers have freed a shade who is desperately wanting a new body to continue his evil plans. But can Hannah stop him.. if rumours are true he's killed plenty before and if threats are to be believed he's got no interest in stopping.
I love this series and this book was awesome. The story line is strong and the characters fun and likable. I wish there did not need to be an antagonist in the witch next door, but I believe that is necessary to avoid sticky sweet. Good story, I recommend, if this is a new series for you, start with the first one and read the entire series. The overall story arch is strong.
Any fan of this author knows she writes excellent books - full of adventure, suspense and magic. If you haven't read her books yet, don't wait! I highly recommend to anyone who enjoys the genre.
Another problem handled in Casper Creek. Hannah and friends worked together to keep everyone safe. The plot and subplots move quickly and the conversations flow naturally. The characters are well developed and not always perfect. I can't wait for the next book!
I really loved this story! It was filled with mystery and ghosts, witches and magic, murder and evil. I hope that you enjoy this book as much and I did!
Big fan of Lily Harper Hart and Amanda M. Lee. This one was just "meh" for me. I felt it was a little rushed and I'm a little over the Astra storyline. I like her character, but I wish that she would either be redeemed or the battle resolved already.
The story itself is really good, but the continuity issues within this series is beyond frustrating. It mentions the battle against the changelings over and over, but that is not in any of the books yet. There are bits where certain characters are pointed out as being in a specific place, but are left as total loose ends with no mention of what they are doing while other characters are doing other things. Also, the Lindsey situation was addressed in the 8th book with a substantial resolution, but it then bounces back to her being awful. The broken continuity issues were so distracting and took away from the book overall.
This was a good solid adventure, I enjoyed it. But I got the feeling that Hart was setting the scene for the next section of the series plotline. There were many questions left unanswered. I will admit to being curious about where she's going to go with the next year. I really hope it isn't big demon apocalypse and a wedding. I hate it when she drops a series by marrying the lovers off. Love and adventure can continue even with marriage and children (which she's already done). I just would rather watch the Casper Creek crew deal with a bunch of witch kings growing up than see them relegated to guest appearances.
What a wonderful imagination this woman has I love all of the scenarios. She comes up with and how they’re handled. I love Astra, Boone, Not so much Lindsey she’s an irritating little brat, And Hannah! She’s got a great cast of characters, but I cannot do this romance between Hannah and the sickly sweet boyfriend ! I love romance, but we are in book 10 now and I honestly cannot go on, I should’ve quit four books ago!!! I would say at least 1/3 of the book is the silly back-and-forth love crap!! Such a great series except for that! So that’s it I’m through!!
These two got to be the most annoying people to read about, she as so much time but she still can't take up a book and read about the paranormal, Cooper is getting on my last nerves. Dude got know power yet he always the jumping clown who wants to fight the paranormal when he can easily get hurt, let's not forget he seems to act as if he for got hannah got magic. This book had too much lovey dovey crap that it gets annoying real quick
I love Hannah and how she is really coming into her own. She and Cooper are so cute together. I love her dog Jinx. He is more of a familiar than just a pup. The side characters in this series are also well developed and I enjoy them and their personalities. Looking forward to next in series. Better if you read from beginning of series, but it's not necessary. Each book has its own plot that is resolved. No cliffhangers.
So again Hannah is a trouble magnet…or is she stumbling onto all this trouble because she is the only one powerful enough to get rid of the problems? No matter what a good person she is though she really has to get rid of Astra….talk about a viper waiting in the weeds.
This book has left my mind racing with so many different pictures of what’s to come! What will charge in the dynamic of Hannah and Astra’s relationship? How long until the shades come back into play? If only they knew a necromancer or ghost hunter or grim reaper….
Well it looks like Hannah and the gang are gonna have some fun with some ghosts. I definitely wasn't expecting the ghost that we got, but the story flowed very well. I just feel like this ghost we may have not seen the last of them. I look forward to see what happens in the next book.
I like that these books aren't all about someone dying in every book when it doesn't seem as if many people were dying before Hannah got there. There's just a lot more Paranormal stuff happening, and most of it has to do with the powers Hanna has inherited. It makes sense, and it makes for interesting stories. I love the imagination of the author. I honestly can put these books down.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I love the different types of relationships in this book. Lily Harper Hart is one of the most prolific and creative author I know. I am really growing fond of Boone. He brings a lot of humanity and support to the group.
This book was just ok. It had some interesting parts but overall fell short. Cooper’s constant worry over Hannah tripping was over done, and was just weird when Astra says he worried about that with her. Some the characters seemed to have no reason to be in the story other than for filling the pages. I hope the next book in the series is better.
This is a really good book by a very talented writer. The storyline kept me on my toes. I can't wait for the next book about Hannah's adventures by my number one favorite author. Ms. Hart is a very good and original storyteller! You won't be disappointed at all.
I’m not a writer,I’m a reader so I don’t offer a synopsis of this installment like others can. Suffice to say this a really good series. Easy read and a clean cozy with well drawn and easily likable characters. A great weekend read.
As usual, I love the interactions of the characters as they figure out the new threat, that was accidentally unleashed when they visited a ghost town in the area. There were a number of LOL moments.
A must read series. Hannah and Cooper are a great couple. I think she may have found the only exceptional man on the planet. The stories are gripping and funny. Great characters. Great series.
Book 9 has humor, witches, ghosts, an evil shade, murders, mystery, magic, and plenty of angst. Hannah is getting a handle on her magic and love is in the air. Highly entertaining.
