Delves behind the scenes to create an absorbing portrait of Grace Kelly, Princess Grace of Monaco, revealing how she lost her heart to some of Hollywood's most desirable men before meeting Prince Rainer III of Monaco. (Biography).
Not a book I'd recommend. As the title suggests, it's got a gossipy bias, and the author has difficulty separating myth from fact when it comes to Kelly's love life. She seems to treat a vague rumor with the same credibility as a story with multiple eyewitnesses.
Nothing here will be eye-opening to someone who has read even one other Kelly biography. The one "new" (ish) source is a lothario named "Brian," who the author interviewed, who dated Kelly and other up-and-coming actresses. While his insights are colorful and he is clearly sympathetic, nothing he offers is especially eye-opening.
I do give this book one star because it's lively to read and not boring, but that doesn't make up for weak research, lack of new insights, and a sensationalist approach that fails to give thoughtful attention to Grace Kelly's complex humanity.
1.5 stars. Same old song with this particular 'author'. My only regret in reading this is the havoc this one star rating is going to wreak on my overall rating.
