Tansy Rayner Roberts is a fantasy and science fiction author who lives in southern Tasmania, somewhere between the tall mountain with snow on it, and the beach that points towards Antarctica.

Tansy has a PhD in Classics (with a special interest in poisonous Roman ladies), and an obsession with Musketeers.

this was fun, cute and with very likeable characters. and easy read, that won't fire you up and probably won't be your favorite of the year but won't let you down at any time and you'd enjoy all three stories and all paragraphs. if you want to a relaxing, enjoyable time, this is it.

Ahoy there mateys! This series was recommend to me by Matey Nicole. This collects three short novellas in an omnibus.  I loved these!  They are "fantasy-of-manners."  The main character, Miss Mnemosyne Seabourne, is the only young lady who doesn't want to marry the Duke, no matter what her mother thinks.  She wants quiet, libraries, and tea.  And to avoid suitors.  She is a fantastic character.  I loved the humor, the fun magic, the excellent female characters, and even the romance!  I need the lighthearted fun and how much they made me smile.  I will reread these and I need to get the next two at some point. Arrr!

Watch out for magical croquet, ensorcelled wedding cakes, a snowy rooftop chase, swan boats and lots of tea in this delightful gaslamp fantasy of manners.

sheer delight

Cosy mysteries with just enough angst to give them depth, anchoring the frivolity. The gentle lampooning of the English love of tea runs through all three books. The mashup of a fictional magical kingdom with Victorian history and politics enlivens the text. Well written, with delightful characters, great good humour, and delightful banter, this set is one I’ll happily recommend.

Oh how I adored this little series. I was worried it wouldn't feel satisfying, since I generally don't enjoy novellas, but I am so happy I was wrong! I loved all the characters, the magic, the world (alt-Regency-ish!), the mysteries. Love love love!

3.5 stars, I think? charming and fun without being anything radical. I do love the recurring hedgehogs!

The audiobook narrator for this First Collection edition speaks very slowly, but it's nothing a speed adjustment can't help.
