Getting dumped right before Valentine’s Day is bad enough, but things only get worse for cheerleader Carlee McAdams when an incriminating picture of her lands in the school paper. In the middle of her public, very complicated break-up, someone is desperate to see her fall, and they’ll stop at nothing until she hits rock bottom. Just when life can’t get any more messy, ex-model Alex Coleman enters the picture: cute, interested, and totally off-limits. He’s everything she doesn’t want in a guy, so staying away should be easy. But that proves harder than it looks. The more she gets to know him, the more she starts to question if he’s really the guy she thought he was. Can she put her prejudices aside and give him a chance? But before she can decide, the one person she thought she could trust ends up being the one who’s about to bring everything down.
Probably the best coming of age book I've ever read. The characters were very interesting and perfectly intertwined. The story never faltered or stalled, it kept me interested from the first page to the last. I truly want to know what their next chapter is. It's clean, fun, and entertaining. Very appropriate reading for ages 12 to 112. Can't say enough good things about it.
This was a good story, a cute one. I liked the characters and the way the story flowed. I liked how the heroine became a better person as the story went on. I liked how she stood up for herself against her ex and her mom and was a strong person by the end of the book.
I received a review copy and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Happy Valentine’s Day and Happy Singles Awareness Day! From the start of this book you can tell things are not going to turn out well with Tildon and Carlee. They have been together for two years but he instantly gets distracted by a new girl at the ski resort. Carlee wanted to trust him and leave him be but things ended up going wrong for her. Tildon seemed like a good guy in the beginning but as the story goes on he just kinda pissed me off. He had to many excuses and seemed like he could be controlled too easily by other people. I liked the family aspect of this story with Carlee and her sisters but her mother was terrible. She just did more and more things to make situations worse. I could not imagine having her as a mother and felt bad for Carlee. Alex was a good guy if not a little pushy in the beginning. I wish he would have listened to Carlee more at times because these two eventually had a bit of back and forth going on between them with all the rumors floating around. I did enjoy this book but at times I also wanted to throw it because people can be horrible and not listen to what another person wants especially when it’s your own child.
This is the second book I have read from Kimberly King and I was not disappointed.
A great read about a girl dumped a few days before Valentine's and the other guy trying to heal her heart. A perfect way to show that you have to be happy yourself before any relationship can make you happy. A really great lesson in this book.
There is so much more to this book than I initially thought. It is a great coming-of-age story and it really is fantastic how the girl finds her voice after so many years. I thought the characters were really well plotted out and I loved the interactions-- yes even Gigi and Tildon. I think Alex was the perfect underdog and I was swooning over him from the get-go, he is such a likable guy that you would want around you. Carlee is such a sweet girl and my heart went out to her, she really did have a struggle on her hands.
The descriptions are fantastic, there are a few characters from the first book that make an appearance- though you do not need to read Lucky in Love to understand this story. A fantastic book that will have you all warm and fuzzy by the end.
Carlee and Tilden have been in a relationship for two years. Carlee is totally committed to him and Tilden is incredibly thoughtful and romantic. After all, he always plans a huge Valentine’s Day surprise -Disneyland, hot air ballooning over the Grand Canyon, jewelry from Tiffany’s… so when a cute cashier flirts with Carlee on the ski hill she’s absolutely not interested. But then, the unthinkable happens… and when everyone turns on Carlee she discovers not everything is as it seems. This is a great, clean YA romance with some fun characters. I recommend it.
I read the first book in this series and fell in love with King’s way of setting the scene and telling stories. I adored Carlee and Alex, and loved the way the twists and turns both pushed them apart and pulled them together. The story was beautifully written, engaging and kept me turning the page so much so that I finished it in one sitting. I loved that ending, and the big reveal was amazing, kept me guessing the whole way through. It was a delightful story and so glad I have the next in the series so I can dive right into that! Recommended for all those who love a sweet romance with a bit of a mystery woven through.
I enjoyed this book. It didn’t take me very long to read. I think the ending all happened very fast. I the ending could have been extended a little more with some more information about what happened after it all.
Fairly standard YA romance. It was fine. My biggest problem is that after so many pictures-gone-wrong, I don't understand why she would go anywhere NEAR the ex.
Super cute!! I would say it went in ebbs & flows of predictability. But I related to the characters easily enough. I’ll be reading the other books from this author.
