I enjoyed reading through this compilation of poetry, and I absolutely love the illustrations by Tasha Tudor! The reason I purchased this book several years ago was because of her drawings. Plus, it contains "The Children's Hour" and "The Village Blacksmith" by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow which are two of my favorite poems of childhood.
I adore Tasha Tudor, visited her home & shop many decades ago when she lived in New Hampshire. I acquired "Wings from the Wind" when I was in college, and it's made a few moves with me since then. I believe Tudor chose poems she loved, familiar ones from Wordsworth, Dickinson, and Mother Goose, and some that were new to me, like Mary Webb's "The Water Ousel." Beautiful black-and-white sketches, with a few color plates--a lovely book!
I fell in love with this book the moment I cracked opened its cover. It is so perfect to snuggle up with on a cool Fall day, or any time of year! It's featured on my blog here: http://miathereader.com/fall-and-poem...
The Copyright I have is 1964. Nice selection of Children's poems. Love the fact that pencil drawings are the illustrations. If you collect poem book, this would be a nice one to have.
