Award-winning Author R Weir lives in the Mile-High City with his family, where the Rocky Mountain High isn't always achieved with an herbal substance. When not glued to the computer, he relaxes by enjoying the outdoors and traveling in his motorhome. His writing delves into genres with gritty investigators exploring mystery, crime, suspense, and thrills, with involved plots and unexpected twists. Featuring former US Marshal Hunter Divine, a dire, determined man searching for salvation in his broken life. Private eye Jarvis Mann is tough and snarky, with as many faults as virtues. Author R. Weir hits another home run with Fallen Star, the second book in the Devine Devils series that features Hunter Devine as the main character. Hunter is a former U.S. Marshall turned P.I., and he is tough as nails. If you read between the lines, you can see that he also has a conscience. I couldn’t ask for anything more in a main character for this genre.
Fallen Star features a Hollywood star that has fallen out of grace. Megan Getz is a white-hot mess who lands herself in the middle of a blackmail scam and still cannot lay low. Hunter must love a challenge to take on this case! When Hunter and his team go deep into this case, they’re not only trying to find Megan’s blackmailer but also a solution to the case that ended Hunter’s career.
I appreciate that the characters are realistic and that the situations are gritty. The world-building is incredible. The plot pace is intense! While I liked the author’s “cleaner” lead character and storytelling in the Jarvis Mann series, I do appreciate Mr. Weir’s storytelling chops. It takes talent to have that breadth of characters and situations. The case Megan Getz gets Hunter involved in is dramatic and thrilling. I would be shocked to hear that any reader is able to not read this book in one sitting!
I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. For more reading recommendations, visit Book Junkie Reviews at www.abookjunkiereviews.wordpress.com
I finally got the my hands on book 2 of the series and it did not disappoint!! Even though this book could be read as a standalone I highly recommend reading book 1 to get to know Hunter Divine.
Hunter Divine, former US Marshal and now a PI and his crew have to pick up and head to Reno.....trying to find whom is responsible for the blackmail scheme against Hollywood celebrity Megan Getz. Can Hunter and his team find the culprit against Megan before it is to late?
Glitz, glam, extortion, drama and corruption all wrapped up into a fantastic book!
This book is hard to put down. The author really sucks you in from the beginning. I cannot wait to pick up book 3 and I love the characters......and I am definitely going to re-read books 1 and 2 again!
This is such a good book. It has so much action in it and I must say it does have a rating of "R". Hunter Devine and his crew which include women invade Reno and what you can imagine when you have a crew like this in town does. He is there to get a job done and he will do almost anything to take the bad man down. Randy writes this series and the other ones he has so well that you almost are page turning as it is so good. Randy hit a home run with this!
This was a really good read! I'm glad this one read as a standalone, as I don't remember much from the first book. This one was thrilling, and full of so many twists and turns that kept me turning the pages. I can't decide which book I like better so far but I'm excited to read the next installment to this series!
Love book one and this one followed suit. Suspenseful really replicating what crime and Corruption could actually be a great team of characters working to solve the mystery catch the bad guys and escape with their lives. Great background on the characters and challenging interactions but a well-oiled team for sure great job mr. Weir can't wait to read book 3
Hunter Divine is hired to investigate Hollywood actress Megan Getz blackmailer. The investigation leads to other answers in Hunter's life that he has long awaited for. A tangled web has Hunter and his crew unraveling more then they expected.
This was good, it read more as a detective style story. Reminded me of some of the Ellery Queen mysteries I used to read. Kept me guessing as to where the story was going .
Fallen Star: The Divine Devils #2: Mystery Suspense Crime Thriller by R. Weir
This is the first book I've read by the author. This is the second book in The Divine Devils Series. This book had me on the edge of my seat throughout the entire book. It may have many chapters but it is a fast read. Well, it was for me.
Hunter is very good at his job. He does what has to be done, but he doesn't let it bother him. When a Hollywood star comes to them for their help he jumps to it. The quote I chose for Hunter is: “Wow— Megan Getz— Hollywood royalty. Her parents were big stars years ago. She was a teenage actress before becoming an adult star on a popular sitcom for many years. Worth a lot of money thanks to the syndication residuals.”
Meg goes to her manager for help and finds the Divine Devils. She goes to them for help and they agree. Will they be able to figure this out or is it going to be another failure? The quote I chose for Meg is: “I’ll tell you all I know and in as much detail as I can recall. I must ask a question . My manager told me the name of your team. When I heard it, it scared me a little, but it also gave me hope that your team can do the job. Is the name accurate?”
R. Weir keeps his main characters tough and gritty during this second installment of the Divine Devils. Each member has a specialty making them essential to the team. The victim of the blackmail scheme, Megan Getz, adds quite the splash of color to this dark story. Although anxious to keep her name out of the news, she throws herself at any red-blooded man with whom she comes in contact and is quite creative with her wiles. Hunter shows us a new side of himself when he learns to say no and mean it to Megan’s sexual advances. It is a treat to see the personal side of Athena’s life revealed, yet leaves one to speculate about the others. Fight scenes with Shen are quite effective. The writing is so explicit one can easily imagine each powerful blow. During this case, Hunter has flashbacks to his last case as a U.S. Marshall. This ongoing story lets the reader know Hunter may be hard, but he does have a conscience. There are bizarre twists and turns in this tale keeping the reader engaged up until the last page is turned as Hunter is determined to solve this mystery even if he has to move heaven and hell to do it. R. Weir promises and delivers a thriller not soon be forgotten.
Megan has lived most of her life in the comfort of the celebrity world until one indiscretion will ruin her life and reputation for good, so she calls in the best in the business to help find out the source of the blackmail and the threat on her career but neither of them thought it would open this many streams of evil to have to close.
Hunter and his team are called in on a relatively straight forward case of Blackmail or that’s what he thinks but delving deeper into the world he discovers a lot more which drags them into the world of Drugs, prostitution and Murder but can he get him and his team out alive.
This is the first book I have read by this author and the first book in this series, and I really enjoyed the flow and story. Although this is the second book, I read it quite easily as a stand-alone book with no trouble. The main character in Hunter is strong and has his demons from the past which to get to read some in the start of the book which opens the man on the page.
This story is full of grit and excitement, with the twist and turns that you take I could not put the story down. I was enthralled and the drama, danger and edge of seat thrilling writing I was rushing to finish the book to see what happens. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series, but I may just has a sneaky read of book one first.
Wow! Hunter Divine used to be a US Marshall and has since moved to having his own team of investigators. In book 2, Hunter and his crew head to Reno, Nevada and end up working an undercover case to find the blackmailer of Megan Getz, Hollywood royalty that got caught up in after a little indiscretion - at least according to her.
What they come to find out is that Megan is very overtly pursuing indiscretions all over town and doesn't seem to have learned anything from the blackmail case that has even brought Hunter and his crew here. She tries over and over to seduce Hunter, who wants nothing to do with it.
In what he expected to be an easy case, they find all the members of the dark underbelly of the city and have targets on their backs. Bodies start showing up and Hunter and his team find themselves set up to take the fall. While at moments I really had trouble liking Hunter, there are several situations that give me hope for him, yet. Great scenery, wonderfully fleshed out characters and backstories a lot of grit and suspense and one hell of an ending to this book!
I absolutely loved the intrigue of this book. I felt I was getting two books in one. Not only was Hunter with the help of The Devine Devils trying to solve who was blackmailing Megan Getz, a Hollywood actress. He is also trying to solve the case that lead to the end of his career as a US Marshall. I actually found myself talking to Hunter in this book. Telling him "don't do it", "don't go there", "you're going to get shot". That's just how involved I got in this book as I read along. It got very intense. I can't say enough good things. It's a definite page turner and a must read. The ending of the books let's the reader know that there's going to be another great book to the series. I can't wait!
Fallen Star By: R. Weir 5* This is an amazing crime book. The pace was set in the first book of the series and I had high expectations for this book that I was unsure could be met. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that this book was just as good, if not better, than the first. Once again, Hunter Divine is being called on to protect someone in danger. This time it is a Hollywood starlet, who is being blackmailed for things she has done that she would much rather forget. Hunter has a million different things thrown at him this time, but with the added problem of this case reminding him of the case that made him leave the U.S. Marshalls. Readers are provided with a story that I definitely could not put down. I love this series and truly hope that there are more books being planned.
Once again, another amazing book in the divine devil’s series. I honestly could not put this book down just like the first one. I love the way the author is so creativity behind every story and character which makes you love the book more. I absolutely love the way this author writes I can never get enough of it. this story was action packed filled with suspense that I couldn’t put it down till I found out what happened next. This book is so well written that it makes you really wonder if it’s actually real, and sucks you into the world of Hunter, falling into a world wind of secret’s, danger, drugs, extortion, blackmail that the divine devils have to face while helping Megan a Hollywood celebrity. Another amazing book by an amazing author, I cant wait for more.
This is the first book I have read by R. Weir and to say I’m amazed is an understatement. Fallen Star is the second book in the series, but I happened to pick this one up first. Even without reading the previous book I was blown away. I’m headed to pick up The Divine Devils to really absorb the full storyline.
Megan Getz is a well-known actress that hires the Divine Devils to help her with a precarious blackmail situation. Hunter Divine and his Devils will stop at nothing to help uncover the shadows of murder, drugs, and corruption in Reno. Will they be able to help Megan, or will they just make the situation worse?
Every time I tried to put this book down, I found myself picking it right back up. I highly recommend Fallen Star and can’t wait to see what happens next in the series!
Megan Getz is a celebrity who lives the posh live. Hunter is a Private Investigator. When Megan becomes the victim of blackmail scheme, Hunter is hired to investigate. Megan has a secret of a past discretion that she doesn't want it to be public knowledge. Megan desires Hunter in ways that are not in his duties as a PI. He denies her advances. Throughout the story you learn more of Hunter's life as a US Marshall and how he feels about things he had done. This story is fast action and suspense, with some steamy sides. It is part two in a series, but can be read as a stand alone.
The Devine Devils are onto their next case. Hollywood star Meg Getz is being extorted. She hires the Devine Devils to free her from the blackmail bond. What they find delves so much deeper than blackmail.
Her is why I suggest you read this book: - Intense suspense - Murder - Extortion and corruption - Plenty of Drama - Great characters that are realistic - some likable and some despicable - Great world building - A raw, gritty, dirty, angsty story.
When someone has a problem, they go to The Devine Devils. That’s exactly what Megan Getz does, a Hollywood star who is being blackmailed. Megan wants to get her claws into Hunter, the private investigator who is trying to solve her issue. She is not used to being denied. Hunter just wants to solve this case and maybe get answers to some of his personal questions. This book was well written and the characters were all unique. Full of mystery, action, danger, and drama. I will be going back to read the first book in this series!
Fallen Star by R. Weir is the second book in The Divine Devils Book series. It follows Hunter Divine and his crew of private investigators as they take the case of Megan Getz; a Hollywood star that is being blackmailed. This is a very action-packed book. The characters are solid and the plot is strong and intense. I especially enjoyed Hunter’s character and his crew. They definitely handled everything and got the job done. The story is very realistic and is a definite page-turner. Awesome read!
After becoming totally hooked on Hunter Divine in Book 1 of this fantastic series I was really looking forward to continuing on with this action packed addictive series and oh boy it did not disappoint! Once again I was totally hooked from the very start and just couldn't put it down! I'm telling you it's edge of your seat type enjoyment!!! This can be read as a stand alone and be fully enjoyed however I do recommend reading the first book simply because the series is just way too good to not read it all!
This is my first book by this author and I enjoyed it. The author grips you from the beginning and does not let go. There were times I had to reread due to being in shock. From the characters to the plot, everything is captivating. I will be reading more from this author and this series.
Another great read from author R. Weir. Some interesting characters and plenty of action. Can't wait for the next in the series, especially following the teaser.
5 Stars Fallen Star (The Divine Devils Book 2) by R Weir
Fallen Star is the second book in The Divine Devils Series and a wonderfully written Crime Thriller that is extremely hard to put down. I’m a fan of this author and his style of writing along with his pretty straightforward characters make for a intense read at times. I found myself on the edge of my seat trying to figure out the next move. This is packed with action , suspense drama crime and so much more. The storyline flowed so well that I got caught up in the pages and read half the night . I do highly recommend reading the first book if you haven’t already started it. Its just as good as this one and you get to know the characters and what’s been going on. Hunter and his team are back and this time they are investigating what starts out as a blackmail case but it seems the deeper they dig the more they find. They find themselves in a dangerous situation that includes, drugs, prostitution and murder. I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. I can’t wait to read more from this Author.
This is the first book I have read from this author and now I’m hooked. This is the second book of the divine devils series. This book can be read as a stand alone but some of the parts of the book you could get lost if you don’t read the first book. I’m going to read the first book and then reread this book. This story captured my interest right from the start because of the characters. I could not put this book down so I read it all the way through. I can’t wait to see what this author will write about next.
Megan Getz is a very famous Hollywood star. She is known as an actress in a well known sitcom. Megan knows a lot of stars and she has everything she has ever wanted. She is shocked when she is now a victim of blackmail. Megan doesn’t know what to do so she calls in the best of the best the divine devils. Will this amazing team get to the bottom of this or will Megan get into danger?
Fallen Star is the second book in The Divine Devils series by R. Weir. It is another well-developed crime thriller- following along with Hunter Devine and his crew as they investigate what appears to be a fairly straight-forward blackmail plot- but things aren’t quite so simple and take a sinister turn as they get tangled in a deadly web of murder, drugs, prostitution, and perilous danger. What happens makes for a gripping read with plenty to keep you glued to the pages- mystery, suspense, agendas, investigation, intrigue, tension, violence, danger, plots, action, and lots of dramatic developments. Unputdownable! Bring on Book #3! Happy Reading!
This was a brilliant read. I’ve read books by this author previously but I think this is definitely my favourite so far. I was completely gripped and couldn’t turn the pages fast enough. I loved that I felt like I was right in the middle of this crime thriller trying to work out what had happened and who had done what. The author did an amazing job at keeping the suspense going the whole way through the story. This is the second book in the series and I read it easily as a standalone however with how excellent it was and I’m definitely going to grab the first and I’m looking forward to the next book!
This is an author that I have enjoyed reading from the first book I picked up by him. I never hesitate to pick up his books. I enjoy how he can use his writing skills and details to bring his stories to life. This is the second book in this series which I highly suggest reading the first book as well. This will help with your enjoyment of this author’s books and his characters. This is a well written story that has a little bit of everything in it. It is an engaging story that is hard to put down. The characters are strong and unique. They pull you into the story from the start. They make it easy and entertaining to read. They really made the story for me. The twists and turns are something you don’t want to miss. This is a great story that you don’t want to miss. I highly recommend this book and this author.

Web of intrigue This book has it all. The second in the series has Hunter and his crew smack-bang in the middle of a web of murder and mayhem. Again the author brings a strong plot line with amazing imagery that had me feeling every single moment. Once I finished the book I felt like I had just stepped out of the world and taken a breath. Highly recommend this book (and book 1) and I am so looking forward to reading more.
