I like that this book includes some practical tips on how to take back your time and be more productive at work. By implementing them the author promises that you’ll not have to spend as many as 80 hours per week and still be as productive and maintain or increase your income. Who wouldn’t want that!

However I feel this is not always practical, especially when you’ve launched a new business and need to get it to a certain level of success. You have to put in the leg work and wear all hats in your business: manager, technician, entrepreneur etc.

But I like some of the concepts in the book like:

- dam unnecessary tasks to control the flow of tasks and activities
- get an assistant if you have to
- limit the number of communication options you give to others. If it’s a real emergency they’ll find you
- don’t give mobile number to customers
- don’t give business contact details to friends and acquaintances

The author mentions that many time management books to go far enough. They focus only on managing time efficiently but not on the important aspects of the value you provide as a professional and charging accordingly. This frees you from working with high maintenance, low returns clients.

A mix of the obvious (set priorities, drink less alcohol) and the impossible/improbable (figure out your purpose in life much earlier, somehow remain successful while telling customers and coworkers no a lot). Not much insight here.

Greatly motivated me to reorganize my inbox and try the block schedule. I haven't finished this book yet but for me, I need to implement changes slowly over time. I will definitely finish this as I move forward into 2021

I read this book towards the end of my real estate career. I thought so much of it that I created a course to teach it to my REALTORS in my office. I retired before I ever had the privilege of teaching it. I can think of no better book to read and study IF you want to gain control of your time.

Duncan shows you a very easily understood daily practice that (1) organizes your time and (2) frees up more time to conduct those dollar productive activities that will advance your career. This is especially true in the real estate business but applies to all types of businesses. If you follow his guide, you should never again find that you are telling yourself that "there is not enough time to do all that I need to do." The time is there if used wisely and that is what this book is all about.

This book outlines the importance of maximizing your efforts in the things that matter. Eliminate any unnecessary tasks in your schedule, find a way to outsource any necessary tasks, and then spend most of your time on the most important ones that will increase your bottom line. When you have freed up time in your life it is important to use this time for the things that count in life. Health, Relationships, Knowledge/Growth, and Happiness are what will add life to your time. The value of time is measured by the way we spend it. Set such high standards for yourself so that even if you fall short you won't be disappointed with what you've done.

I was really encouraged & motivated by the first little bit of this book, but became a bit bored that the chapters were so fluffy, for lack of a better term. He had great ideas, and it's definitely a conversation to be had, but this book could have been more concise.

Enlightening

Practical and makes sense. Easy to understand but potentially hard to implement...but you know it would work if you had the courage to do it.

\nDiscovering good (but not necessarily popular) books is a satisfying experience. This was one of those. And no, its not for just 'swamped' salespeople.
