Desaparesidos is angrier than Dekada '70In short, if you want to try Lualhati Bautista, go for this book. However, this has lots of violence that makes this not for everyone. It is not for an easy feel-good read. However, this provides a good easy-to-understand summary of the political landscape in the 70's and 80's particularly in relation to the US-Marcos regime. Bautista cleverly inserted that summary in the book that provides the young readers a good grasp of the milieu of the novel.
Desaparesidos is more feminist than Bata, Bata...
Desaparesidos is better written than Gapo. Tauter, more direct to the point, more interesting twists and there are more memorable characters.
"...[H]indi isang lipunan ng mga desaparesido ang nalikha ng lahat ng pakikipaglaban...kundi isang buong magiting na kasaysayan."
