Raging Fire #2

Matteo: Wild Fire

Rate this book
Dakota Mathison created herself at the age of seventeen. New name, new life, new location. Lots of new locations, actually, but she always had to look over her shoulder in case the man from her past caught up with her. The rodeo circuit had been a great place to hide, until she met up with someone who knew her before she’d become Dakota.

Matteo Giardano had never forgotten the girl who’d been his sidekick in 4-H. Both shared a love of horses, and while he’d never admitted it back then, he’d loved her too. But she’d disappeared after high-school graduation…until one night in a bar after a rodeo many years later, she sashayed back into his life. Only to vanish again the next day.

Months later, she showed up on his doorstep battered and broken from her last rodeo buck-off—from a bull this time, no less. The woman seemed hell-bent on proving herself, whether to herself or someone else, he wasn’t sure. Though she’d never have to prove anything to him.

Will Dakota turn her back on everything she’s ever wanted as she chases fleeting success in the rodeo world for all the wrong reasons?

5 Star Review Matteo: Wild Fire (Raging Fire #2) by Kallypso Masters
If you want a story that has heart and soul, then Matteo: Wild Fire is the book for you.
As teenagers Matteo Giardano and Dakota Mathison were friends, that is until she disappeared after their high school graduation. Imagine Matteo’s shock when years later she re appears, only to be gone again the next day; he has never forgotten the girl he had a crush on.
Months later she re appears, battered and bruised from her latest rodeo ride and this time he is determined not to let her go. I loved the connection between Matteo and Dakota, it was built on a solid friendship. These two could not be more different, Matteo is carefree whilst Dakota keeps her own counsel, but the chemistry that sizzles between them is impossible to ignore.
Matteo is totally swoon worthy, such a kind, caring, protective man that I fell for hard and fast. It is obvious that Dakota has trust issues and that she has spent most of her life looking over her shoulder. I enjoyed the playfulness of their relationship but having said that there were serious issues that needed to be addressed and they were handled well. It was heart warming to watch Matteo prove to Dakota that she could trust him; now all he has to do is convince her to stay.
Matteo: Wild Fire was well written, with characters whose story you cannot help but become invested in. There were numerous layers to Matteo and Dakota and it was fascinating as they were peeled back layer by layer until all was revealed in this emotional story.

The rating should be higher, and I don't like to be the bearer of not great news, but things are what they are, so...

This series is NOT a series about firefighters. It's a series about Angelina's brothers, who happen to be firefighters. Nothing similar to Firefighters of Station Five. In that series of books, to be a firefighter is an important part of the plot and not a paragraph (at most!) like in this second book. The first book, Tony, was a little more involved in rescue (not much) and then focused on the love story and on learning to dive and diving here, there and everywhere. This second instalment is about love, horses, ranching and rodeo, with Matt being told to be at a shift at the Station or spending two weeks working as a volunteer on a big fire (just mentions and very little more, not active firefighting business).

Other than that, the book is quite good and enjoyable if you are able to put up with the TSTL phase of Dakota and with a slightly repetitive and not well-done editing. I don't mind the author informing us that these books are at first serials on her Patreon fan club page and later, from Patreon, the books undergo extensive edits and are then published as ebooks and paperbacks. It may be true, but reading the book I have the sensation that it has not been edited as a whole because the same sentence (or a very similar one) can be found a couple of pages later.
Also, a good editor should tell the author that is highly important not to insist so much on the awesome "community" the male main character gives to the female main one. They're in love, and she is gaining a family and a community, something she has lacked all her life, but, c'mon, you just do not name your community more than once or twice even at your own wedding!

Wow! I loved getting to know more about Matteo Giadano, firefighter/cowboy and all-around protective Italian alpha male. A chance meeting at a rodeo reintroduces him to a girl he couldn't forget but she was different now. Dakota Mathison left home after graduating high school and reinvented herself. She was running from her demons. She is one hell of a heroine. Strong, independent, out to change to the world of rodeo. She wants to make it a more equal sport for women. She has enough chutzpah to do just that. But first, she has to heal and somehow get Matteo to understand how important it is to prove that she can ride a bull.

Ms. Masters writes a good story. She delves into her characters and gives the readers a complete picture of their lives. She developed the characters so well that sometimes it is easy to forget they are not real. She also adds new things that I have never heard of and have to Google. I enjoy that because while being entertained, I also learn things from her books. She really knows how to write steamy loves scenes and I have come to look forward to her wedding scenes as well. They are as unique as her characters are and I loved Matteo's and Dakota's wedding. There are a lot of touching scenes in the book as well as Ms. Masters spins a tale of mystery, love, and well life.

I have been a fan of Kallypso Masters’s books for quite awhile. Her Rescue Me series introduced readers to strong alpha males and their equally strong female counterparts. The second book in her Raging Fire spinoff series, Matteo: Wild Fire, features more of her trademark relatable characters. While not as steamy as the Rescue Me series, the characters are just as well-developed and just as real. They are strong but not infallible, and their experiences are believable. One of Masters’s strengths is her dedication to “getting it right” – and her research pays off in delivering a story that, while containing fictional people and places, could easily be people and places we know. As an added bonus, some of the Rescue Me characters made appearances and gave us a little bit of an update on their lives. By the end of the story, Matt and Dakota felt like good friends, and I was cheering them on to their happy ending. Another job well-done for Kally, and I can’t wait for the next book!

I just loved this couple! Dakota and Matteo were such a joy to read, they have light, fun, and even when things were so serious, a determination to live life to the fullest. They knew each other as teenagers and a chance meeting brought them back into each others lives all those years later. Matteo is an open book but Dakota has learned to keep herself safe from harm. Matteo learns he isn’t quite as open as he thinks he is and Dakota learns she can trust Matteo and put down roots. Their chemistry was amazing and the fun they have carries over into their steamy times too. It wasn’t all lightness, there are some serious issues these two need to work through, and there is tenderness and caring as well. They made me smile, tear up, and squirm, and that is the best recommendation I can give 😊

Matteo: Wild Fire

I wasn't sure what to think when Kally said that she was going to do a spin-off of the Rescue Me Saga about Angelina's brothers. However, this book was great!! While I will always be a huge fan of the Rescue Me books, especially Marc, Adam and Damián, and their bdsm style, this series also has a place in my heart! The writing is terrific and Kally really knows how to set the scene so you can envision where the characters are and what is happening! Matteo has quickly become my favorite Giardano brother and Dakota's story is the stuff fairy tales are made from! I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who likes Contemporary Romance!!!!

Loved this second book in the Raging Fire series.

This time it is Matteo's turn to discover his happily ever after with an old school friend.

Matteo hasn't seen Alison, now known a Dakota, a championship winning bronco rider on the Rodeo circuit, for years. After she fled her childhood home, and her fathers clutches. Dakota's history is a blank to her, but starts to experience vivid dreams/visions. Slowly, with the loving help of Matteo's family she starts to piece her past back together, in order to embrace her future.

Matteo:Wild Fire I think is one of the best books Kallypso Masters has written. This is the story of Matteo and Dakota. Matteo doesn’t realize he’s missing something in his life until he sees Dakota. He knows her from 4H but her name was Alison. He wonders what that’s all about. Dakota ends up injured riding a bull and goes to Matteo’s to heal. She starts to remember things from her past that she has blocked out. I just love these two!

I received a copy of this book through Kallypso Masters store, and I chose to review it. This is the second book in this series, and I think they just keep getting better. This is a well written story with wonderful characters. This was a quick easy read for me, but then I couldn't put it down. I encourage you to get this one. If you haven't read Tony the first in this series go get that one also.
