The chance sighting of a stranger sitting on a rock in the Temple of Karnak sets bells ringing in Philip's mind. The man looks familiar, but Philip cannot pinpoint where or when he would have met him. As Philip travels through Egypt on a photographic assignment, the stranger occupies a prominent place in his thoughts and he tries, unsuccessfully, to track him down to find out who he is. Through a series of random events (can any event be random when Jesus is involved?), Philip ends up in Paris and finds Pierre - the man who was sitting on the rock in Karnak. Over the course of a year, and under the guidance and leading of Jesus, the two men discover things about each other that both shock and please them as a strong, brotherly bond is forged between them.
Born and bred in South Africa, Bryan completed his high schooling in Pietermaritzburg before moving to Cape Town, where he studied drama and worked in theatre for a number of years.
In 1973, he came to a saving knowledge of his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ and has walked with him for the past 42 years.
Later in that year he married his college girlfriend, Corinne and, together, they have had 5 children and 12 grandchildren – all of whom are walking with the Lord.
In 1979, he and Corinne moved their family to Johannesburg, where they joined Rosebank Union Church, which has been their spiritual home ever since.
Before retiring in 2014, Bryan worked in both PR and the Travel Industry, where he specialised in Christian tours – particularly to Israel and Turkey. He has visited 33 countries and has gained extensive knowledge which filters its way through into his writings. Not someone who can sit on the “voorstoep” and do nothing in his retirement, Bryan has opened his own travel company and divides his time between travel and writing.
He has a Bachelor’s Degree in History and Psychology from UNISA and a number of diplomas in drama, public relations and industrial editing. He also holds a certificate from the Rosebank Bible College, where he taught drama as an optional subject for 10 years.
