Freelancer: Year One is a practical guide written for freelancers who want to launch and grow a sustainable career working for themselves.
When I started freelancing 15 years ago, I knew nothing about how to find clients, what to charge, or how to build a business. My goal with Freelancer: Year One is to give you the practical insights that I wish someone had given me back then, to give you an advantage as you set off on this new and exciting journey!
the book is helpful and provides some nice tips, but it's expensive for a 40 page ebook. it feels a bit like an influencer scam to get as much money as possible. even though there are some helpful ideas for building your freelance business, it doesn't seem to tell too much more than his instagram already does.
unfortunately, I can only give it 2 stars. While the book did contain some helpful information, I don't believe it offered enough value for its price point.
Firstly, the content was quite basic and self-explanatory. I was expecting more insider tips and strategies for navigating the freelance world, but instead, the book seemed to cover the basics that any beginner freelancer could easily find with a quick Google search.
Additionally, I found the length of the book to be quite short for the price. I don't believe the content justified the cost, and I wouldn't pay more than 10 euros for it in hindsight.
Overall, while Freelancer: Year One had some useful information, I don't think it's worth the price tag. There are better resources out there for those looking to break into the freelance world or improve their existing freelance business.
This book was such an easy read and is filled with great advice for those of us stepping out on our own. It handles everything from the nervous jitters of getting that first client to negotiating contracts to finding out what the client's needs are. A must-read for anyone thinking of being self-employed.
