A century ago, the Sea King made a deal with the gods to hide the underwater kingdom of Nendavia from mankind. Endymion, youngest of the Sea King’s seven sons, has more cause to despise humans than most of his people.
Despite this, when a woman somehow finds Nendavia during a dive, Endymion hesitates to kill her. Unable to risk Nendavia’s exposure but refusing to harm her, Endymion’s only option is to bring the human back to Nendavia.
Confined to the boundaries of the kingdom as a ‘guest’, Nendavia’s patriarchal tendencies make River outspoken and stubborn, testing Endymion’s patience and irritating his brothers. But after overhearing plans of an uprising, she realizes she must convince Endymion of the coming storm…without causing one herself. As she grows more attached to the enigmatic sea prince, River’s ties to the human world become less sure every day.
One thing is sure though. Don’t ever call them mermen.
This was a really well written book. If this is truly your first, OMG i can’t wait to see what you have in store for us. There’s a ton of world building, along with historical mythology & then l, of course, the actual story itself. It was done well. While I didn’t go fact check the dive detail specifics, I did look up myth related info. (Done I knew, some was new to me.) It was consistent with known information & stayed consistent within the story. (Which seems to be a real struggle these days.) In addition to being a well written, paced & creative story, my grammar Nazi didn’t have to come out while reading. (Once, for a misuse of there, but that’s nothing for the length of this story.) I don’t give 5 stars, (except for say a very, very rare , perfect book. Like something by Jane Austen.) or you’d get them.
I read this on Galatea a year or two ago, and fell in love with it. I recently tried to read a similar book, but it paled in comparison, and left me wanting to read this again. I really hope there’s more coming in this series!!
Update: checked her website and there’s a second one coming. I will die slowly until I can get my hands on it.
I liked it. River, a deep diver, is captured and taken “prisoner” by Endymion (the youngest but most powerful of the Sea King’s sons. They fall in love. They survive a plot of rebellion. They discover River’s heritage. Wish there was a lot more to the HEA epilogue, but it was a decent end.
Well written! I’m usually someone who can predict an ending or main events in a story, but not this book! The plot was well laid out and organized with purpose. I love the Greek mythology that you tied into everything. I cant wait to read more books written by you! 😁
