Holden The last time Beckett walked out on him, Holden knew it was time to let him go.
Since the day they’d met, he’d known they were meant for one another, but Beckett doesn’t feel the same. Now, it’s time to call it quits, only Beckett is in trouble and Holden can’t walk away until the man is out of danger. If truth be told, maybe not even then.
Beckett It’s not easy fighting powerful forces and juggling things with Holden.
He knows Holden wants more, but he’s skittish about commitment and he has his reasons. Right now though, those reasons take a back seat to the trouble he’s got brewing. So he wants, no he needs, Holden fighting by his side and honestly, he doesn’t want to think about Holden walking away.
It’s all about the timing… With time running out, it’s a race to catch the bad guys before they start killing hostages. Can a commitment phobic, ex-army, talkative lieutenant and an active duty, easy going, patient sergeant put their rocky relationship on hold to take on corrupt law enforcement? And if they do, when the dust settles, will they fully commit to each other or call it quits?
**Call it Quits is the final book in the Code of Honor series. While the book can be read as a standalone, previously established characters do make appearances.
Reese Knightley spends her time creating stories from the characters rattling around in her head. Her love of reading mystery, action and adventure, and fantasy books led to her love of writing. Reese works as a full time writer. She loves to hear from her readers.
I know these types of books are all about the big alpha men, military special forces and how they all fall for each other, kicking the bad guys down on the way.
But the plot for this one went beyond the usual suspend disbelief and way off into the "absolutely ridiculous" stratosphere.
I'm sorry but it takes some stomaching to accept that a Texan Sherriff could pull the kind of outrageous behaviour that goes on in this book without any kind of fall-out prior to Beckett's involvement.
I know corruption exists, but sorry, nothing that goes close to the bad guy in this getting away with shooting people willy nilly and leaving a trail of dead henchmen behind each time they cross paths with the guys of Infinity, Phoenix and Cobalt Security.
So that kinda put the dampers on this book to the point that I couldn't really get behind Beckett and Holden's romance either.
Especially because two years of it's happened off page and we're just told they have this epic secret relationship.
Overall this series has been middle of the road, with just a couple of books standing out for me, although the men themselves and the found family aspects have kept me reading.
There are so many lines of dialogue that are going well and then veers into unnecessary “I am very badass” type talk. It’s all over the book. Every single line introduces characters like a video game, with their stats and ‘badass-ness’ more important than who they actually are. I finished it because I had to. But this was not an enjoyable experience. I hope to read more from this author when they are much improved but this is the 8th book and I can’t imagine the first 7 are better.
Most military focused books in this genre tend to be a slog to read through because of the fetishization and worship most American authors have of the military. But this one was especially annoying. And gotta love the line “taking out the trash”.
I found this book draining, boring and really dragged out. I liked the connection in the beginning but then it got so unnecessarily long. I really didn't like this at all.
If only it was a romance and not action adventure plus romance. The relationship between the two MCs is secondary in this story. Which is too bad, as they are well written and attractive. The chemistry between them is hot and satisfying to read. I’m at 48% and have started to skim read because after chapters of the MCs being apart, they are now together, but every alone moment is ripped apart by a vengeful psycho who wants MC Bennett. I would go more into the plot line, but it is heavy going with a seemingly untouchable bad guy who wears a badge. The book has far more killings and lethal action than the previous and it’s not my jam. I’m calling it quits!

This was a very dramatic story the Beckett did whatever he could to stay alive as Holden and the rest of the team tried to help him while trying to catch the aggressor after him. Lots of passion and violence in this story. A fitting final book in the series. Easy to read, feel and understand. This was an MM story with mature content.
I liked it! It was a nice wrap up of this series. Finally we get the reason why, even though there was so much chemistry between Beckett and Holden, they couldn't be together in the previous books and why Beckett was so hell-bent on pushing Holden off. Definitely this book was on the darker side so if you're sensitive this might not be for you so look for the warnings and if you're sure you can read it then do it ;). It was also fun to have an appearance from the Phoenix team somewhere at the end. Fortunately, the series redeemed itself after I was so-not-in-love with the 3rd book. I was on the verge of not reading the next books, but I'm glad I did, cause they were lovely. The 7th book also didn't quite grip me that hard but overall, the series was good and I enjoyed reading it. I'm off to read the next series, it being Operation Justice!
Final pairing ranking: 1. Liam & Spencer 2. Justin & Elijah 3. Zane & Isaac 4. Holden & Beckett 5. Luke & Dillon 6. Maddox & River 7. Greene & Forest 8. Diesel & Triton
Call it Quits is the last book in the Code of Honor Series. Not ready for the series to end but looking forward and can’t wait for the next chapter with Pegasus to start. I enjoyed how all the books characters interconnect to make finding the enemy of Beckett and destroying him. Beckett and Holden had a secret love affair that they kept hidden from their friends and teammates. Beckett was on an undercover mission for the capture of Rick Stolls. Beckett had rescued three young girls that Stolls had kidnapped and two teenagers that he had kidnapped and abused. The storyline was will make you they would hurry and destroy Rick for what he did to the kids. Families are losing so man loved ones to human trafficking and it is awesome that someone is out trying to stop it. I have enjoyed the entire series of Code of Honor, Out for Justice and Cobalt Security. I would like to read more stories around the Cobalt Securities series. Reese Knightly is amazing in how she brings the story to life. You can imagine and visualize the scene playing out.
This was one of the best action-adventures of the series, bordering on thriller in some places. Holden and Beckett, contrary to what we and the rest of Infinity believed, have been seeing each other secretly all along and when Beckett is in danger, Holden steps up to find him and will leave no stone unturned. It's exciting and fast-paced and features most of the other couples in the series and their spouses.
The chase was complex and convoluted as just as they think they have bad guy Rick Stohl ready to be pinned down, he slips away. Family members and friends are in jeopardy, making it exciting. And for those who enjoy it, there's plenty of (gratuitous) sex. And I mean plenty!
Overall, the series was decent, the writing leaves much to be desired though, and the narrator was quite good. I doubt I'll revisit it or other works by the author as I like a lot more story now that I'm aging, but that's me. New to MM? I'm sure you'll enjoy the action in and out of the bedroom.
“I couldn’t call it quits with you if I wanted. Which I don’t, because, well…you’re the one for me.” This world, these men, the action, the suspense, the thrills, I love it all to pieces and back again. Hang on tight though because Holden and Beckett’s adrenaline- and passion-fueled HEA is a mail-biting ride. I adore how these two can go from fierce, lethal protectors to tender, caring sweethearts in the blink of an eye, and sometimes all at the same time. They’re inevitable, like a sunrise, and while I’m sad this series is over *sniff sniff* I can’t wait to see what danger awaits us next next from Reese Knightley.
Beckett and Holden are friends with benefits but only because he has a secret that means he must keep the man he cares about at arms length. Holden loves Beckett but he's tired of being the man's dirty little secret. Maybe it's time to call it quits. But when Beckett's secret is revealed and his life is under threat Holden resolves to stick to him like glue.
With many of Infinity having moved on, or talking of moving on maybe it's time for both men to think of the future. But first they must survive the bad guys.
An excellent end of the series, a thoroughly enjoyable Free Kindle Unlimited story.
This is a great series wrap up. We get the last of the Infinity soldiers paired up and the segue to another new spin off series where we will meet new couples but also continue seeing some old friends.
This book brings together Holden and Beckett, finally. We get background on both men and find out why Beckett keeps ghosting Holden. The crime in this book comes out of Beckett’s past and features a corrupt criminal Texas Sheriff who is obsessed with Beckett. There are some really good action scenes and eventually we get to taking care of the villain and the HEA for the MCs. I’m looking forward to this next series.
Reese is closing out her Code of Honor Series with this one right here. I personally have been waiting forever to figure out why Beckett and Holden are not getting together.
You get murder, intrigue, kidnapping, mentions of trafficking and drug running, and of course lots of hard hitting action. I know the book says it can be read as a stand alone, but not really, there is too much back story and world building that has taken place in the first 7 books. Do yourself a favour and read the rest of the series, it's awesome anyway.
I enjoye so much Reese Knightley book. In this one, we finally discover why they were only tiptoing each others for 2 fr*cking years.
There was so much to catch on, so much action.
I love how she stretch the kidnapping to make sure how real it make to set up a strategy with all the group, how the mc remain calm and his possession bc he was sure about his own abilities to keep himselve safe.
8 books in this Epic Series - and more in several spin-off series. They are all interconnected by the MC's who work together but could probably be read as stand-alone, you would just miss a lot of the nuances of the secondary characters, who have had their own story or will have their own story. All the MC's keep popping up in each other's stories and I love them all!
I read the Out for Justice series and next is the Cobalt series, then Operation Justice Force. So many books, so many great MC's and so many enthralling stories.
That was a wild ride. Definitely enjoyed Holden and Beckett and the chaos they got involved in. The epilogue was a sweet wrap-up of the series and I look forward to the next series. I do feel like it's worth pointing out that the editing/proofing in this one was less on point than usual. Repeated lines, typos, and the like. Would I have noticed if I weren't a self-published author who has to think about these things? Dunno. Didn't make the book less enjoyable, just wonder if this one was a rushed release, I guess.
Call It Quits is the Eighth and last book in the Code of Honor series by Reese Knightley. It centers around Beckett and HoIden's relationship. Beckett is undercover trying to catch a psychopath. Holden is just trying to get Beckett to be with him, but love is never easy. This has everything you could ever want in a book, action, romance, comedy, strong Characters and a great plot. I highly recommend this book. It can be read as a standalone but it's better to read the whole series.
Well, I binge read my way through the Code Of Honor books, so this is more a series review than a standalone for Holden and Beckett's story.
Whilst I may have cared more for some main characters than others in this series, it's undoubtedly a fast-paced whirlwind of adventures and romances. Of course, the missions and huge cast of characters are all on the extreme/larger than life side so suspension of belief is a necessary but as pure entertainment these books do just work for me...in exactly the same way as over the top action movies do. 4* overall.
It never gets old when I read on of Reese's fantastic military level love stories! Holden has so much patience when it comes to anything with Beckett. Beckett has been working undercover for the last couple years trying to bring down a monster discuised as a sheriff. Hold on to your seat because once you open this book it is a rough and tumble ride that will take your breath away!
Beautiful final book in this series and I was not disappointed. This is Holden and Beckett's story, once again Beckett has walked out of Holden's life and this time Holden is prepared to let him go as Beckett cannot do commitment an Holden decides enough is enough or is it. This story between these two is amazing and so worth a read but to enjoy this book it is advisable by me to start at the beginning.
Love, love, love Holden!!! His patience and stoicism are beautiful to experience. Beckett is so lucky that he didn't mess up and lost Holdens trust with his shenanigans an wishy-washy treatment of Holden's love. Their love story is so beautiful and I can't wait for Mason's story.
Thank you Ms Knightley for bringing us their story, I wish we could have attended Holden and Beckett's wedding I think we missed out!!
This was another great book. It's very refreshing to read books that mesh together with individual stories but are part of a series. I love that about this series and not some dragged out plot twist that boring. So I appreciate the writer for this series for the individuality of each book with the focus on the love characters, and not some dragged out plot twist.
did I just read all of Reese Knightley's books just because i fell in love with all her characters!! yes yes i did.
this was the absolute perfect way to wrap up this series. sadly i read these books in like reverse order but i still loved every single one!!! i need to more!
reading operation justice had me like how do i get Holden & Becketts book! looved them they deserved their full happy ending especially with the boys! cannot wait to see what reese brings nex
I’m very sad to see the end of the Code of the Honor series. I’ve grown to love the infinity team and I’m sad for their journey to be over but I look forward to reading about the new team and all the new characters with some of my favorites thrown in the mix! Really enjoyed Holden and Beckett story, they have been towing around each other for sometime and I knew eventually I’d find out what happens!
I have followed these guys journey for a while and am sad that it's the end of the series. Loved this special forces team. Great action and love stories. Not hard to fall for these men as they fell for each other and having the others team up with them when needed. Super exicted for the new series. Keep them coming Reese😍😍
This was awesome. Fast paced action, great connections and a gripping plotline brought Beckett and Holden's story to life. Watching the two of them go from occasional hookups to finally claiming each other, while dodging bullets and bringing the teams together was fabulous. Definitely a heck of a way to close a series with a bang!
Holden and Beckett pissed me off so much. Stop with the wishy washy stuff. Please act like adults and if you're mad at someone, it's okay to stay mad. You don't need to forgive so easily. This book could've had THE BEST groveling and sadly there was none. I'm tired of the whole "I'm sorry" and that's it after YEARS of hurt.
An awesome end to a wonderful series. I loved all the guys stories and they were all well written. That characters were great the storylines exciting and the steamy scenes got better and better as the books went along. Thanks for a great time! Onto the security boys next....
Reese Knightley, knows how to wrote about the Soldier’s and some of the jobs they do behind the scenes to help protect our country and in the midst of don’t ask don’t tell these guys still managed romance. It’s a series everyone should read, but Holden and Beckett is one of my favorites.
