Robin baiting

I buy these for the Robin storyline and get one frame of Robin! The last frame. I might be cancelling this series if this continues. Robin baiting!

I picked it up for the Fear State ties-in. All stories are parts 1 so I had no problem from not reading the 7 previous issues.

Batwoman story is a Fear State tie-in, and requires to know a little about Batwoman (that she had a sister who was Red Alice) from her own past series (not from recent Detective Comics runs). The Outsiders story is both a Fear State tie-in and a follow on some of the backup stories from the Future State event. There is enough background re-explained here though. I enjoyed it.

Then there is the part 1 of a 3 parts Azrael story that seems to be a prelude to Arkham City The Order of the World that started earlier in October? I am not reading that so I am not sure this is really a required reading. As I will only pick up the issues labeled Fear State, I don't think I will be able to read the part 3 anyway.

The Professor Pyg story was the same than any Professor Pyg story. This is maybe one of the most cruel villain and also weakest, I do not understand how Batman can let him come back again and again or how he is not incarcerated forever... Stupid.

I miss Batwoman having her own title and enjoyed seeing her story continue with Beth in "recovery," and also interacting more organically with the Bat family, Cass in this case. In her own title, Batwoman tends to operate more on her own.

Professor Pyg was ok. Seemed like a filler story, but it was a better use of the character than the last episode of Batwoman. :/

Azrael was too short, but eggs in an interesting note.

I don't read the Outsiders, but I am familiar with The Next Batman. This one seems like a mess from the start, but then gets better. I didn't care for the first half, despite it being somewhat necessary for the second half, which is good, but not enough to make me pick up the title to see where it goes.

Disinformation Campaign (1 of 2): Nice action and paneling, but a bland read otherwise. The best thing I can say about this story is that it went by fast.

Little Pyg, Little Pyg: Pretty much exactly what I want out of UL's one-shots. Great art, nice little story, and Batman centric.

Dark Knight of the Soul (1 of 3): Nice to see a well written Azrael. Flowery inner monologue feels true to the spirit of the character. Fun art, too.

The Fearful (1 of 2): Oh look, it's Tim.

Mixed bag issue. Went by fast, but not too engaging beyond Little Pyg, Little Pyg.
