This goes beyond AirBnb for dummies, which might have good information. This is AirBnb for morons. Tips like “make sure to clean before you take pictures of your property” and “make sure to have silverware”. This book is a complete waste of time. I am sure the only reason the publisher allowed it was they knew people would buy it….fortunately I did not. Save your money and save your time. Find something else.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

A very easy-to-follow book that won't overwhelm you if you are just starting to consider an Airbnb business. The book will give you the ins and outs of getting started.

This book is also helpful for people who rent through Airbnb. It gives you ideas of what you should expect as clients, like the house rules and location manual.

I liked that the book is written in plain language without jargon. It is a perfect introduction for a newbie and a good book for people who may have started an Airbnb business but need a bit of help growing their income.

I like books that share real insider tips and tricks, and this book did that. I learned:

-- you don't have to accept all guests,
-- there are tools to track pricing and set up your business on automation (MarketMinder, PriceLabs),
-- you don't have to own a property to get involved (lease then rent or start as a property manager & get a cut of the profits),
-- you will need additional property insurance,
-- you may need to set up an LLC,
-- there are other options besides the standard Airbnb as Airbnb Experiences and Airbnb Plus.

The book will help you set realistic expectations of how much work an Airbnb business is. The authors don't claim it is easy and will make you a millionaire, but instead tell you the many things you have to take care of (reviews, cleaning, automation and pricing strategies, management, key exchanges, customer communication, etc.) to be successful. It takes a lot to make any business successful, which is no different from an Airbnb business.

There are two things that I wish were in the book:

1. actual examples with numbers and
2. real customer/owner stories

It would be great to have an example of a property bringing a certain amount of money, how often it was rented out, and its expenses and profits. Even better would be reading about a property that was losing money and turning profitable after implementing some of the strategies. That would be powerful. Also, having stories of challenging situations as an owner would have provided a face to the actual business. Stories can be compelling.

This book had fairly good information, but almost all of it could be found for free in just a few YouTube videos. It wasn’t necessarily basic, but there wasn’t anything groundbreaking about the information provided. If you have already done a fair amount of research on how to start and run an Airbnb, I’d recommend skipping this book.

This does a great job of covering all the basics. It seems like it's missing the elements that make it great, but I don't know what it is. There's no mention of costs or potential profits, which is important. I think much of this is covered in AirBnB's website. Maybe another edition will help this book.

Thanks very much for the free ARC for review!!

3.75 🌟 Great overall overview of how to set things up without going into the nitty gritty. A little repetitive at times but still good if you need an aerial view of things. Further reading is needed to get into the deeper stuff though. And I found the linked references in the back to be useful.

Basic but Good Information

This is a great book for the true beginner. If you have some business experience much of this is common sense but also provides some good reminders. I liked the tool recommendations and will definitely be looking into them.

Overall it's worth the read.

This is a good book for new Aibnb owner/managers. I would want more input on SEO outside the platform, marketing strategies, customer retention strategies etc.
